NA DAYTONA MEMBER THREATENS LIVES OF LOCALS IN SUNRISE PARK HOLLY HILL FLORIDA

Here we are at the 5 year anniversary of this Daytona NA nightmare event. Since this occurred there have been additional events of harassment of local Holly Hill citizens and business owners. AA Volusia County Intergroup has bullied multiple times people out of pavilions, including threatening and harassing locals.  They had an incident where an NA member tried to hit another member with a baseball bat! They continue to run people out of pavilions, and recently have been breaking the new No Smoking rules implemented by The City of Holly Hill. We commend Holly Hill for moving forward with this new Park rule!  We Hope they respect Holly Hill more than Daytona Groups do. Continue reading

Daytona Beach “Just For Today” Narcotics Anonymous Meeting at Hollyland Park Continues to Harass Citizens

439

This story told by 4thechildren about the Just For Today NA Meeting in Holly Hill deserved it’s own post.

On Memorial day weekend, a volunteer who was cleaning up trash at Hollyland Park, had to listen to excessive swearing from members of the Daytona Beach NA group, “JUST FOR TODAY” who were holding their large meeting directly in the middle of the playground.

Someone had properly rented the park’s main pavilion for a family reunion gathering. This Daytona NA group’s non-traditional chairperson decided to take over the pavilion in the middle of the playground which was about 30 to 40 feet from the family reunion event!

Too bad if the children of the family reunion were hoping to use the playground!

The volunteer was so sick of hearing the foul language and witnessing the inappropriate behavior from this group on Memorial day weekend that he decided not to visit the Holly Hill park last Sunday.

He considered not going again this weekend but then asked himself, why should any citizen allow this group, who takes over the park every Sunday morning, to deny one from enjoying a typical park experience because of their foul language and inappropriate aggressive behavior?

So at about 11:30 a.m., after purchasing a sub from Subway, he decided to stop by and eat his brunch in the park at a nice shady picnic table across the field and away from the meeting.

He got out with his book to read and paused from time to time to watch some batting practice going in the ball field as he ate his food.

The citizen just continued to read his book. Even at this distance one could not help but hear swearing. He also heard a lady who apparently was walking with a small child coming closer to where he was sitting. As she got closer she heckled the citizen with an extremely derogatory and critical remark.

Then two other Daytona NA members came by where the citizen was sitting and muttered derogatory comments about him to one another as they passed.

I guess they are retaliating because this citizen has had to call the police in the past when Daytona Beach NA members illegally smoke and harass citizens etc.

What happened next was much worse! AA Daytona Meetings in Daytona Beach Florida Volusia County

As the citizen continued with his book and some NA members were getting in their vehicles, a newer, tan diesel truck drove toward the citizen. The truck pulled up tightly behind the citizen’s car, which was the last one in the parking area. THEN THE DRIVER AGGRESSIVELY MANEUVERED THIS TRUCK AROUND THE CAR, WAY UP ON TO THE GRASS, TIGHT TO AND PART WAY AROUND THE TREE AND PICNIC TABLE!

HE THEN SAT STARING RIGHT AT THE CITIZEN, WHILE PARKED APPROXIMATELY 10 FEET FROM THE CITIZEN’S SIDE OF PICNIC TABLE, ON THE GRASS WITH HIS DIESEL MOTOR RUNNING! Every time the citizen looked up from his book, the aggressive man in the truck was staring right at him!

After many minutes had gone by the citizen started to pick up his food and book to put it in his car. The man in the truck just kept staring and then pulled his truck sideways right behind the car, blocking it. The citizen just calmly continued to put his things in his car and then thought it best to check the license tag of this truck!

At that point the Daytona NA man in the truck made some aggressive and unusual maneuvers, backing his truck up across the grass, way over towards the nursery. The man in the truck continued to stare at the citizen from his truck. The citizen then walked diagonally across the field to get the license number from the truck. After realizing that the citizen was getting his tag number the truck quickly left the area.

The citizen stayed a while longer and watched some batting practice to relax but then it began to rain so he decided to leave.

As the citizen reached the stop sign at the edge of the park and prepared to pull out, the same truck pulled slowly in front of him on the street and then stopped in the road just past the intersection.

The citizen then pulled out onto the road and went in the opposite direction of the truck to avoid further aggression from this man. At that point the man in the tan, crew cab, diesel truck quickly pulled into Centennial Park and stopped right in the entrance way.

As the citizen headed east, the man in the truck peeled out of Centennial Park and you could hear his tires squealing 3+ blocks away!!

VERY AGGRESSIVE !!

Knowing the long criminal and violent history of some of these anonymous members and the completely unsupervised nature of their meetings, it boggles the mind to think of them being permitted to take over a playground just to avoid paying for an appropriate space.

This would not be allowed in Daytona, Ormond or Volusia County Parks!

Their organization’s 7th tradition expects them to pay their own way and they always recite how their traditions are
NON-NEGOTIABLE!

DAYTONA BEACH — A convicted murderer on parole went back to jail earlier this week because he was late getting home.

Terry Frison Freeman was arrested Wednesday night during a Daytona Beach police probation and parole sweep — the department’s first in more than a year due to budget constraints.

The 41-year-old Freeman, was convicted of second degree murder for beating an 81-year-old grocer to death in 1996. He was also convicted of robbery.

One of the conditions of his parole when he was released from the Tomoka Correctional Institution in May, included that he be home every evening by 7 p.m., said Police Capt. Craig Capri.

A Daytona Beach detective, a uniformed officer and a Probation and Parole officer, knocked on Freeman’s door on Wednesday evening, and he was nowhere to be found, said Police Chief Mike Chitwood and Capri.

“We waited for him until 7:15 p.m. and he didn’t come back,” Capri said Thursday. “We didn’t see him until after 8. He said he was looking for an NA (Narcotics Anonymous) meeting.”  Donnie Moore Commissioner of Holly Hill calls critics nutjobs.

Wednesday’s arrest of Freeman was a significant one for police. Continue reading

Gabrielle Glaser in her book explains why AA is not the answer for many women and also interviewed Monica Richardson for her book that she devotes an entire chapter to.

http://gabrielleglaser.com/

Monica Richardson discusses as a previous 36 year AA member about the dangers of court mandates and the crime that happens when you co mingle vulnerable members of society and violent court mandates and sexual predators. Court mandating is being done against people’s constitutional rights as AA has been determined to be religious enough that no one should be forced to go. Yet this happens in our courts every day by Judges.

This information about the ineffectiveness and the real dangers of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous is much needed to inform the public that there is more effective treatment and that AA or NA is not a safe place to send your loved ones- especially teens.

Monica Richarson has a website   www.leavingaa.com  and http://stop13stepinaa.wordpress.com/  that is a must read for those that want to learn more about these important issues. She also has her own popular Blog Talk Radio at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/saferecovery

She was interviewed by Big John Radio Show in Daytona Beach about 2 years ago that sent a wake up call to many listeners. Monica did an interview herself with a local business owner who had been threatened by Daytona AA and Daytona NA members in the City of Holly Hill with no help from Holly Hill PD or the City of Holly Hill in Volusia County Florida. Those events inspired the website www.nadaytona.org about the  12 step madness in Holly Hill and around the world.

Park Employees Intimidated By Narcotics Anonymous And Alcoholics Anonymous Groups

Even though there has been a smoking ban at Newport Beach for over 7 years, park employees were too intimidated to tell the AA/NA Groups to not smoke. Commissioners said that the AA/NA groups were just too confrontational for park employees, and need police to enforce the ban. First citizens asked the 12 steppers not to smoke and obey the law, but was brushed off. Typical behavior of 12 steppers acting like they are unique and special, and that they do not have to follow the law. The citizens of Holly Hill Florida certainly can relate towards this attitude of ‘Recovery Groups’. We have been dealing with The Sunrise Group, which is part of the Volusia County Intergroup Alcoholics Anonymous, as well as the Daytona Narcotics Anonymous meetings in Holly Land Park, Centennial Park and Sunrise Park. We have to deal with parking issues, litter , vulgarity, cigarette butts, assaults, death threats and the list goes on.

Maybe the Holly Hill City Commission will listen to the all the complaints from our locals and take action!

Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous groups can’t smoke at Newport beaches

City Council
By JON CASSIDY / THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER

NEWPORT BEACH – Recovery groups that smoke during meetings on the beach are facing a crackdown, after the City Council rejected a plan to give them smoking permits for their weekly meetings.Smoking on the beach has been banned in Newport Beach for more than seven years, but the City Council took up the issue Tuesday as part of a revision to its rules on parks and beach use.

Those new rules included a ban on smoking in parks, as well as broader language covering permits for park use.
Two groups, one from Alcoholics Anonymous and another from Narcotics Anonymous, have been gathering at the beach near 15th Street for years, City Manager Dave Kiff said. Many of the group members smoke, he said.

“A law is only as good as our ability to enforce it,” Kiff said, adding that parks employees were too intimidated to give tickets to the large recovery groups. His proposal was to allow the groups to apply for smoking permits that cover just their meeting time, but the idea was rejected.”There’s other people that (would) see them smoking there and think now it’s OK to smoke here,” Councilman Steve Rosansky said. Councilman Mike Henn said police would be needed to enforce the law.

“Clearly what we are left with is increased enforcement and we need to figure out a way to make that happen,” he said. “I don’t think it can realistically happen with park patrol people because the people that are smoking, I know, are just too confrontational when they’re asked to stop. So we’re going to have to figure out a way to get the proper police enforcement there.”

Two residents spoke against Kiff’s exception. Resident Denys Oberman said that she had been asking group members not to smoke for years, but that they usually ignored her or told her, “Get off of it” or “Go about your life.”

Two others came to ask that the basketball court at 38th Street Park on Balboa be closed at 7 p.m. rather than sunset; the council agreed. Those were the only two changes to a package of revised regulations approved on a 5-1 vote, with Councilman Ed Selich opposing and Rosansky not voting. The new regulations for parks include a smoking ban, a permit requirement for commercial use by coaches or trainers, and a permit requirement for “any games” played in the city’s 73 parks.

Daytona Beach NA Member Busted For Meth Lab In Ormond Beach Florida

Ormond Beach Florida resident Christopher Greenbaum and Daytona Beach Narcotics Anonymous member was busted for having a meth lab at his house. Christopher Greenbaum is a convicted felon with previous arrests for drugs and DUI’s.
When he was busted this week they also found a firearm.

Just the kind of dangerous criminal that you want going to NA meetings in our Holly Hill Fl parks and playgrounds. It goes to show that many who attend NA/AA meetings, have not quit drugs or alcohol at all. This one carried firearms and had a meth lab.

An Ormond Beach man was arrested today on multiple drug-related charges after deputies found a methamphetamine lab in his home, a sheriff’s spokesman said.

Volusia County sheriff’s narcotics investigators along with agents with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration raided the home at 73 River Beach Drive about 2:30 p.m. after sheriff’s officials received a tip about possible drug activity in the home, sheriff’s spokesman Brandon Haught said.

When deputies entered the residence, Christopher Greenbaum, 35, was quickly taken into custody. He was the only person inside the home.

Haught said agents found a meth lab in the upstairs bathroom of the home, which required a specially trained cleanup team to safely secure the chemicals. Investigators also recovered 95 grams of meth oil as well as a firearm and ammunition, Haught said.

Greenbaum was charged with manufacture of meth, possession of listed chemicals, trafficking in meth, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon. He was taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail and is being held without bail.

DAYTONA BEACH NA MEMBER THREATENS THE LIVES OF CITIZENS IN SUNRISE PARK HOLLY HILL FLORIDA

PHOTO- Daytona Beach Narcotics Anonymous / Alcoholics Anonymous Member, Sunrise Park Holly Hill Florida

The day was November 21st 2010 in Volusia County, Sunrise Park in Holly Hill Florida. The local community had rented the pavilion for a Thanksgiving celebration cookout. It was a beautiful Sunday morning, and there were ribbons around the pavilion to notify others it had been reserved. Law abiding, local business owners and well respected long time residents were preparing to cook a turkey. Steve who had recently run for the position of Mayor of Holly Hill and had been a long time Boy Scout Master was there to cook the turkey.

At around 11:00 a.m., when The Daytona Beach Area Narcotics Anonymous members were starting to arrive for their Sunday meeting, many NA members were quite upset that the citizens of Holly Hill had actually rented the pavilion. Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous continually refuse to pay rent to secure the pavilion for their scheduled meetings. It was available to rent for those that chose to pay the City of Holly Hill the required fees to reserve it for November 21st 2010.

We were unprepared and shocked for what happened next. A tall biker guy named Terrence, actually walked into the center of the pavilion and started to flex his muscles as if he were Hulk Hogan. He said the words from a beatles song that went,  ” Bang, Bang Maxwell silver hammer came down upon her head, Bang bang Maxwell silver hammer made sure she was dead ” while he continued to flex his muscles. Terrence then did a bow to those of us in the pavilion and said, ” I am feeling generous today and will allow you to live another day!”. Needless to say all of us were pretty shocked.

Pictures were taken of this man as he was leaving. He turned and flipped us the bird in a very menacing manner. He then went to his motorcycle and came BACK into the pavilion a 2nd time and told a local Holly Hill citizen, who was a court employee, that he could squash him like a bug. He took out his cell phone, got in our faces and started to take pictures of us. Then he walked over to the NA meeting that was taking place in another part of the park. The Holly Hill Police were called and 3 officers responded to the call. What a relief (we thought).

Little did we know that we would be revictimized again by the very police officers that were called to protect us. They started questioning us in a very hostile tone. Officer Thornton kept demanding to know why we were there. Puzzled by their hostile and odd behavior we kept explaining to her that we had rented the pavilion for a Thanksgiving cookout. We showed them the big Turkey that we were cooking as well. The police were asked by one of the victim’s “is there a problem with the citizens renting out the pavilion? ” Officer Thornton answered quickly, that she thought it was ” MALICIOUS” to rent the pavilion! This was one of many inappropriate and shocking comments coming from Officer Thornton and the other policeman. ( Formal complaints have been filed against Officer Thornton and The Holly Hill Police Department). Officer Angelo Alexogiannis stated that he used to work at The Stewart Marchman Rehab Center and sympathized with the NA members. They showed no concern or interest whatsoever for our safety, or in what had just happened. They exhibited a strong bias in favor of the NA group. They seemed to be joined at the hip. Later it started to make more sense as we learned of Officer Thornton’s own colorful background.

When we had identified the man who had harassed and threatened us, the police said that they knew who he was. They then went over to the large NA meeting taking place and talked and laughed with them a bit, including the member that threatened and harassed us. The officers came back and said to stay away from one another, and allowed this man to remain at the park! He was not arrested or trespassed from the park. One officer asked if their was anything else he could do. We asked if charges could be pressed for threatening us. They said no, there was nothing we could do. Could we fill out a report? No-we could not fill out a report. Then Officer Angelo Alexogiannis was asked if he would at least fill out a report stating what had happened. He promised he would indeed do that.

Well this initially put a damper on the festivities, we made the best out of it and enjoyed a delicious Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings. It was enjoyed by many from the local community.

The following week the police report was requested from the Holly Hill PD. There was a report # given and the incident call, but no actual report. We were later told by staff that the officer decided not to do a report after all! This was  knowing that a report was requested and it had been promised. This appears to be an attempt to cover up the incident to protect the image of Daytona Narcotics Anonymous and the identity of Terrence, the long time NA member that harassed us.

To our complete surprise there were 2 incidents that day at the park. One had a report and the other did not. Both of them shocked us. Where local citizens were threatened there was no report, only a short statement in the incident log stating that the incident was caused by the victim who was threatened and called the police! Also, even though the police stated they knew who the perpetrator was and spoke to him, they did not put his name in the incident log. It’s a good thing citizens were wise enough to get the licence plate of the man,and were able to identify him, Terrence T. This was another rude awaking as to how the police were protecting the NA members, and what a cozy relationship they had with them. We knew then, that the Holly Hill PD and Chief Mark Barker were not going to protect the citizens and local business owners from the harassment and threats by NA members.

Then there was the 2nd report. A woman named Danielle went to the police station later in the afternoon on the day of the incident and filed a report stating that a woman was following her 8 year old daughter around the park with a video camera! At the time it was was not known, but it became clear in the following months that Danielle was the treasurer for the entire Daytona Area Narcotics Anonymous. No where in the report did she state any connection to the earlier incident or that she was affiliated with NA.This was a false report filed by Danielle. This is a crime. She said in her report that the person who she accused of filming her daughter was the lady who owned the store across the street. The owner of the store across the street just happened to be the same person that called the police on Terrence the NA member, and was part of the Thanksgiving party at the pavilion. The owner of the store did not own a video camera. No pictures were taken of her daughter, and certainly the owner was not following a child around taking pictures! This was an obvious attempt by Danielle to start her initial process of setting up the convenience store owner for retaliation. Diabolical indeed! Mark Barker went along with it hook line and sinker. This was the beginning of Danielle making multiple false accusations when calling police against the owner, along with lying to the the commissioners at a City Hall meeting, stating we were dumping cigarette butts on the ground, and blaming it on NA members was just one of the outlandish claims.

Citizens asked to fill out a report that November 21st day, we were denied this right. Yet Danielle was able to waltz into the police department later and file a false police report, which was very oddly written. Neither the police or Danielle were too worried about it, as no one ever came to talk to the owner of the store who was accused of following a child in the park and videotaping her. You would think that a concerned mother would ask the person themselves why they were taking pictures of their daughter, if it actually happened. Of course that was another lie. Danielle is not the mother of the child she was referring to to but her Aunt. She is the daughter of her brother who has a lengthy criminal background.

We soon realized the depth that Holly Hill PD would go to protect NA / AA members. NA members were fabricating stories and lying about the events of that day. Then Narcotics Anonymous World Services in California said that their policy was to do nothing about criminal matters by their own members. We then knew the extent of what we were up against. NAWS advice was to just call the police and that this was a police matter and has nothing to do with them. Well that was, and still is a joke as time would continue to demonstrate the bias of the Holly Hill PD. We knew then that a grass roots effort had to be initiated to expose this fiasco.

Photo of Daytona NA Member Terrence coming back into the pavilion a second time and threatening to squash a citizen like a bug.

NA MEMBER-PEDOPHILE RAPES 15 YEAR OLD AT CENTENNIAL PARK HOLLY HILL FLORIDA

Here we have a man James E.Walker, convicted sexual offender raped a minor again in Centennial Park back in 2007. James Walker is now a convicted sex predator after the rape of this boy. Holly Hill allows sexual offenders in their parks. Mark Barker of the Police Department stating that sex crimes in Holly Hill Parks are common. They had made 9 arrests already that year. Fast forward November 2011 and Holly Hill is having a sex crime sting in Ross Point. Four years later and the City of Holly Hill has not stopped allowing sexual offenders in our parks?

What is wrong with this picture? Daytona Beach has strict sexual offender/predator laws and do not allow drug rehab businesses like AA to set up shop in their parks. Why is the City of Holly Hill so laid back about protecting the citizens and allowing pedophiles and sex predators in our parks?

A registered sex offender is back in jail after Holly Hill police charged him with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy in a park restroom Friday.
Police said the boy missed the bus and was walking to Mainland High School in nearby Daytona Beach when he stopped at Centennial Park about 8 a.m. to use the bathroom.

The boy had just sat down in a stall when police said James E. Walker, 38, of Holly Hill, slid underneath.

Walker pinned the youth to the wall, performed a sex act on him and then fled, said Cmdr. Mark Barker of the Holly Hill Police Department.

The boy, who was otherwise uninjured, alerted a groundskeeper at the lakefront park on 10th Street. Authorities said a police officer found Walker in the parking lot of his apartment complex about a half-mile away.

Parks in Holly Hill are not off-limits to sex offenders, only sexual predators, who have committed more violent crimes and can’t live near parks.

Walker got out of prison in April after serving less than half of a 15-year sentence for lewd and lascivious assault on a child under age 16, according to the Florida Department of Corrections.

In 1996, he was among the Volusia County men who were the focus of a six-month Orlando Sentinel investigation of pedophiles in the Daytona area.

Walker was able to leave prison early in part because the laws in effect at the time of his offense allowed him to earn considerably more time off his sentence for good behavior, said Jo Ellyn Rackleff, a spokeswoman for the Florida Department of Corrections.

Today, prisoners cannot work off more than 15 percent of their jail time, she said.

Walker also has been arrested on drug charges in Bay County, in Florida’s Panhandle.

Barker said sex crimes in parks aren’t unusual. Police made nine arrests this year.

Walker is being held without bail at the Volusia County Branch Jail on charges of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child under 16, exposure of sexual organs, false imprisonment, simple battery and resisting arrest with violence.

Sex Offender Accused Of Assaulting Boy In Bathroom

HOLLY HILL, Fla. — November 10th 2007

A convicted sex offender sexually attacked a boy in a public bathroom Friday morning when the boy stopped to use the restroom at Centennial Park on his way to school, according to Holly Hill police. SLIDESHOW: Images Of Suspect’s Arrest, Park BathroomOFFENDER FLYER:Info On Suspect From FDLESEARCH:Do Sex Offenders Live In Your Neighborhood? The suspect already served a seven-year prison sentence for lewd conduct with a child and he just got out in April. He lived about a half-mile from the park restroom where police said he molested the 15-year-old boy.James Walker, 38, was defiant after his arrest.”I did not do this. You’re full of s***,” Walker told Eyewitness News as he was taken into custody, adamant that he had nothing to do with the sexual attack.

“Mr. Walker represents truly the worst of the worst,” said Mark Barker, Holly Hill Police Department.

Police collected evidence from the scene Friday where they say the registered sex offender attacked a 15-year-old boy. The teen was on his way to school, stopped to use the bathroom and investigators said Walker climbed up underneath the door of the stall. Once in the stall, police said, Walker struggled with the boy and held him against the wall while he touched himself.

After the attack, the boy found a park employee who called police.

“I can’t begin to tell you the level of frustration that I and my officers feel on the heels of this incident,” Barker said.

Police immediately spread out to look for the suspect and a sergeant noticed Walker at a nearby intersection. As soon as he stopped to try to talk to Walker, he ran. The officer tried to stop him with a taser, but missed the shot. He ended up catching Walker in the back parking lot of the apartment building where Walker lived.

Only out of prison for seven months, Walker faces five charges now that could put him back behind bars.

“I was never in no bathroom,” Walker insisted.

The news is already spurring calls for a change in Holly Hill. The mayor told Eyewitness News he will suggest changing all public bathrooms to single rooms with locking doors to prevent similar incidents.

Holly Hill Florida Looks at AA NA Meeting Procedures in the Parks

Holly Hill Looks at Park Meeting Procedures

AUDREY PARENTE – STAFF WRITER
January 10, 2011

HOLLY HILL – Children romping on playground equipment at Sunrise Park giggled and shouted in the dark recently, under the watchful eyes of their aunt, Beth Thomason.

On the same night a woman’s low voice nearby murmured about her drug problem. She sat at a picnic table with a camp lantern glowing on nearly 20 adult faces, many under hoodies and knit caps in the cold. Thomason said she knew it was a self-help group, because she once attended similar meetings in support of a relative. No incidents occurred Friday at Sunrise. But recent conflicts over park use by large groups caused citizens to request commissioners look at stronger regulations for the city’s parks.
Park rules and policies will be discussed at a public workshop 5 p.m. Tuesday in City Commission Chambers.
According to a flier on a City Hall table, anonymous self-help groups meet daily at Sunrise and other Parks in Holly Hill. AA Daytona Beach Meetings in Daytona.
In Holly Hill, park reservations by large groups aren’t required, but an option to assure a spot is available for $25, said Acting City Manager Mark Barker.
An individual at Friday night’s meeting, who didn’t want a name used because the group prefers anonymity, said the number of people at a meeting varies and many who attend are required to be there by drug court.

Commissioner Rick Glass said he’s anticipating help from the city attorney at the workshop. “I have had many, many people call, and I just got off the phone with a citizen who was talking about it,” Glass said. “They want (sign-up) procedures put in place for parties – basic policies like other cities have, where parties of 20 or 25 people have to pull a permit.” Park regulations for municipalities at municode.com show other cities, including Ormond Beach and Edgewater, regulate many issues from conduct and park hours to penalties. Barker said “right now, to control certain behaviors,” other regulations are used – not park specific – such as laws covering alcoholic beverages, firearms and public safety issues.

Commissioner Liz Towsley Patton said the issue has been discussed before – not at length. “We will look at all sides and decide,” she said. “I am open to that, but, do I think we need to shut parks off to groups or go through a certain process? No.” Commissioner Donnie Moore said: “As it stands right now . . . I do see some issues, and we can work on that.” Moore said requiring reservations by large groups might be considered, but he also hopes to designate playgrounds as non-smoking areas. Commissioner Roy Johnson said he aims to find “what is best for everybody,” but not “restrict people from using the park.” A local business operator across from the park believes the city should regulate park use. “I am in a little store where people stop to get their whatnots, and they say what’s on their mind. I have heard grumblings,” said Mr. Sanderford. He spends seven weekdays operating Holly Hill River Mart, and said local residents complain about meeting groups monopolizing the park and the parking. The complaints resulted in a petition asking city lawmakers to look at the issue, he said.

Former mayoral candidate Steve Smith presented the petition. Barker said an unsigned copy of the petition is on record. Smith said his trouble at the park began while running for mayor. He reserved the pavilion once a week for 10 weeks, having cookouts and campaigning, but encountered harassment and disagreeable persons in a group meeting at the park pavilion with no reservation, he said. “The city should limit (the number of) times,” of use by large groups, Smith said, and all groups “should be submitting some remittance to the city for the maintenance of the park.”

Smith also had a solution.

“The thing that is missing is, we don’t have a leisure services or parks director, so there is nothing scheduled.” Organized activities would help, he said.

Daytona NA Member Indicted in First Degree Murder of 14 Year Old Bryce Parson

Richard Lyle Newkirk 32 of Holly Hill Fl and Daytona Beach NA member-arrested
May 31st 2011 in the death of 14 year-old Bryce Parson. This man has a long history of violence and drug abuse charges and convictions. Now it looks like First Degree Murder charges will be filed once the toxicology reports are back. Initially they could tell that Bryce had THC, opiates and barbiturates in his urine. It is believed to be a methadone overdose. Bryce had also taken a Xanax that evening as well. UPDATE-INDICTED FOR FIRST DEGREE MURDER

Friends say Bryce Parson loved to fish, surf and sail. (Photo | Parson family)
It is believed that Richard Newkirk also gave Bryce Xanax, and told him it would be okay to mix the 2 drugs. He told him this after Bryce asked if it would be okay.
Mixing adult drug addicts with minors is wrong. Daytona NA and AA need to stop promoting teens and minors to their meetings where they can meet the likes of people like Richard Newkirk who are violent felons. It is horrible that NA continues to put adolescents in harms way. Daytona AA / NA continue to have meetings in playgrounds/parks in Holly Hill Fl and Palm Coast Fl . Holly Hill City Commissioners need to put an end to this practice, and prevent more deaths of children like poor Bryce Parson. Bryce was afraid to go to sleep that night because he was afraid he would not wake up. He was right. I wish he would of called 911.

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. — A local man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a teenager in Ormond Beach, authorities said Tuesday.Ormond Beach police said Richard Newkirk, 32, is facing first-degree murder charges in connection with the death of Bryce Parson, 14. Investigators said Newkirk gave Bryce and another teen a mixture made with methadone hydrochloride. Police said Newkirk provided the toxic cocktail to the teen in May, and Parson went to sleep and never woke up. Newkirk had been staying with a family in the neighborhood, and police said he took Parson and a 17-year-old to a nearby laboratory where he instructed the boys to dumpster dive. Police said Newkirk told the boys to get discarded bottles of methadone, and when they were back home, Newkirk allegedly added water to extract meth residue and then gave each boy a cup.”It was definitely a lethal dose. It was over 1,000 milliliters or milligrams of methadone in the boys’ system, which is probably 10 times the lethal dose,” said Lt. Kenny Hayes, of the Ormond Beach Police Department.Read more: http://www.wesh.com/news/29031661/detail.html#ixzz1hD4fJF00

JAMES McCROSKEY NEW HOLLY HILL CITY MANAGER

Below is an excerpt from Hollyhell.com.Looks like the writer was right. McCrowskey DID demand more money from Holly Hill and got it! Sounds like his days were numbered at Daytona Shores-So why is the City of Holly Hill overpaying McCrowskey even against very vocal citizens opposed to it? Seems like the citizens are getting chewed up and spit out! We dont even have safe parks but McCrowskey wanted a raise even though he has been quoted as saying Holly Hill doesnt have enough money to fix a pot hole!

PS-He wont protect the children or locals in the parks from the harassment of Daytona AA or NA meetings either……..

James McCroskey Named New Holly Hill City Manager – 1/31/11

PREDICTION from the “Inside”: James McCroskey New Holly Hill City Manager

Currently making about $125,000 per year as the Assistant City Manager in Daytona Beach Shores, Jim McCroskey is stepping up to become the City Manager on a six month trial basis in Holly Hill.

Despite the city offering a paltry $95,500 City Manager contract, and with no severance package, Holly Hill received over 25 applications but only a dozen or so met the criteria of a 4 years college degree and 5 years experience.

With Holly Hill uncermoniously firing their City Manager Oel Wingo and renegging on her severance package, one has to wonder what McCroskey’s motivation is. Obviously on the surface job security is not on the table, that is unless there is a deal “under” the table.

McCroskey handles the CRA in Daytona Beach Shores and his contract was nearing an end, plus with the property values in decline, the CRA was not in a healthy financial position and cannot continue to sustain paying McCroskey for his CRA duties. No money, no plan. But McCroskey is a very capable manager. Let’s hope he doesn’t get chewed up and spit out by commissioners who don’t get their way.

Remember that in 6 months McCroskey will be able to get more money or he will tell the commission to start looking again. Also, remember that three votes controls.

Watch close citizens, this hiring deal was made by more than one elected official out of the public eye and smacks of Sunshine Law violations.

Listen in to the negotiations and “voting” in the workshop of 2/1/11. Of course they cannot vote in a workshop, but they may choose and bring it to the agenda for Feb. 8th.

Watch and see. From the “See all – Know all” from the inside.

AA Florida Ormond Beach Woman Robbed By AA Florida Member

This woman met ‘Lonnie’ at a Florida AA meeting and was robbed. Because of AA’s secretiveness-last name is unknown. This is why you don’t need Daytona AA or Daytona NA meetings in our parks. No one is held accountable. They hide behind being Anonymous. Florida NA and AA have been known to not co-operate with police when a crime has happened to protect their members.

Dangers Of Teenagers and Children Attending Holly Hill Fl AA NA meetings

Local citizens have witnessed children and teens of all ages attend Daytona Beach AA and NA meetings. These minors are exposed to very detailed horror stories of drug and alcohol abuse. It is not healthy emotionally for children to be exposed to the adult nature of these meetings. Many people who attend are felons who have committed violent crimes, and even sexual predators that are mandated by the court system to go to Daytona Beach AA meetings. This is putting members at risk-but what is even worse is putting children and teens in harms way. Daytona AA and NA need to do what is in the best interest of children and teens, and protect them from emotional and physical harm. It is outrageous this is allowed to go on. These organizations know of the dangers minors are exposed to at meetings. Yet they turn a blind eye to this harmful practice of allowing young children and even encouraging teens to attend adult meetings. Your children or teenagers are NOT healthy or safe at Daytona Alcoholics Anonymous or Holly Hill Narcotics Anonymous meetings. Please do not take them to meetings.

Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood Death Threats Increase

Daytona Beach Florida May 11th 2011 Police Chief Mike Chitwood death threats increase after recent raids and multiple drug arrests of the city’s most hardened criminals.
Chitwood is known for being tough on crime. But the collateral damage is these people end up being mandated to Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings. In nearby Holly Hill Fl, Daytona Beach NA and AA come to our parks and playgrounds to have meetings. Chitwood does not tolerate this in his town where there are many more parks than Holly Hill has. There is not 1 meeting listed that is located in a Daytona Park/Playground. We are the dumping ground for these hardened criminals. When will the City of Holly Hill Fl address this safety issue crisis? They need to take a page from Chitwood’s book. Volusia County needs to look how there policies of mandated Daytona NA AA meetings are hurting the local communities and putting there citizens at risk.

Daytona Beach Florida Transient Wanted On Cocaine Charges

Alberta Pangburn, a transient is wanted for violation of probation for multiple drug related and prostitution charges. Alberta Pangburn is listed as having been arrested over 26 times in Volusia County Florida ! Another example of someone being failed by Narcotics Anonymous of Daytona Beach Fl. The judges including Judge Will need to realize mandated 12 step programs are not working out very well, and is against people’s constitutional right to be forced to attend religious programs.

Update– Alberta Pangburn has been arrested three times since this last bulletin.
That makes for a total of 29 arrests total. It would be nice to see her turn her life around,
but a playground is no place to have court mandated criminals going to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings!
