A Saskatchewan woman has been sentenced for participating in sexual acts with her son, who is in the care of the Ministry of Social Services. NA Daytona meeting schedule.

The 41-year-old woman from La Ronge cannot be named because it could reveal the identity of her teenage son, whose name is banned from publication.

Judge Marilyn Gray accepted the joint-submission of 120 days time served followed by 18 months of probation for sexual assault and sexual interference.

Court heard the charges stem from 2011. The boy, who lives at a Ranch Ehrlo group home, said he would be forced to “hump” his mother while she sat in a chair, demonstrating several other sexual positions the two had engaged in. He also said his mother would stroke his genitals over top of his clothing.

Despite coming forward, the Crown said he was still worried his mother would get in trouble. Even if the boy had seemingly participated willingly, “she should have known better,” according to the Crown. St. Johns County Florida Drug Court AA Meetings.

Defence lawyer Wanda Towstego told the court the woman has struggled with addiction for most of her life, and is ready to deal with her issues.

As part of her probation conditions, the woman must attend any required counselling sessions, including sex offender treatment and Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.

Mystery solved: A man whose identity remained a mystery for 12 years after he slumped over dead in a 2001 Milwaukee AA meeting has been identified as this man, 53-year-old Oliveros Perdomo

What I find sad about this story is here is a man who wanted to quit drinking, and quit drinking without proper medical treatment. He went to an AA meeting instead and died. MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee County officials have identified a man who died more than 12 years ago while trying to get help for his drinking problem at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.

No one knew the name of 53-year-old Oliveros Perdomo when he walked into the Milwaukee meeting in 2001, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

He also had no identification on him when he collapsed beneath a sign that read, “But for the grace of God…”

Tests later revealed he died from a withdrawal seizure due to chronic alcoholism.

“It was like he ran out of breath,” AA member Jose Gonzalez said at the time.

For months, authorities tried to identify him. Police showed his morgue photo to people in the neighborhood where he was last seen. The same photo appeared in newspapers and on television. People searching for missing loved ones became aware of the case, but left the morgue disappointed. Continue reading

Man gets jail and probation for child porn

 November 08, 2013 11:00 pm  •  Andrea J. Cook Journal staff

A Rapid City man will spend time in jail and on probation after pleading guilty to child pornography charges.

Circuit Judge Robert Mandel suspended the execution of two concurrent five-year prison sentences for 41-year-old Waylen S. Block, but imposed a 10-day jail sentence and three years probation when Block appeared for sentencing Friday.

Block was charged with three counts of possession, manufacture and distribution of child pornography in March. He pleaded guilty to two charges, related to images found on his computer.

Pennington County State’s Attorney Gina Nelson left the sentencing to Mandel but informed him that it was the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that alerted local officers to Block’s conduct. He was posting graphic downloaded images of small children on an adult site, she said. AA Meetings in Holly Hill Parks

Nelson recommended a prison sentence.

His client joined Alcoholics Anonymous and Sex Addicts Anonymous, the attorney said. Block faced a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine on each of the two counts he pleaded guilty to. Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous a Gathering Place for Predators by Amber Weinacht Yahoo Contributer

So glad this excellent article writes about the 12 step organizations of AA and NA.

A Gathering Place for Predators

Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous

What if, at the lowest time in your life, those who are supposed to help you, prey on you? It happens every day, in countless AA and NA rooms across the world. The story has the same lame routine and ring to it every time. The new, freshly sober gal comes to a meeting, hoping for clarity and a new way of life, and before you know it, there’s a man schmoozing her up, trying to get on her good side, with more than just good intentions at hand. This has been termed “13th stepping” and most women new to the program have no idea what 13th stepping even is. The one thing most freshly sobered up AA and NA patrons usually don’t count on is meeting other people who are more sick than themselves. They come in with rose colored glasses on, ready to see the world with new eyes and never figure that the problems they might encounter in the rooms themselves may be as bad or worse than the problems they already have. The question is, why don’t the old-timers and those who have been around the program for a while help these women? Better yet, why doesn’t the World Board in both programs set forth clear rules on this issue?  AA and NA Daytona Meetings in Holly Hill, Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach. Those within the walls of AA and NA include those that want to be sober and are there of their own free will, those that aren’t sure if they even have a problem but want to check out a meeting or two, those ordered to attend by judges in cases such as drunk driving, and then there are those who have to come as part of a treatment program for other problems such as sexual crimes or other felonies they have committed. There are countless felons in AA, who by all standards are not all bad, but there are those who have committed sexual abuse, there those that have tried to kill their wives and girlfriends, those who have raped, and pedophiles. The list goes on and on. Perhaps judges in criminal courtrooms should stop ordering those who have committed sexual offenses into these programs and instead insist that they get individual counseling or inpatient treatment. Sadly, that wouldn’t entirely solve the problem even if such orders were issued however, because once those with sexual addictions figure out that meetings are a place to meet vulnerable women, they keep going back, even after court ordered sanctions have ended.Frequently in the rooms, people say, “Keep your own side of the street clean, and take your own inventory.” What this means essentially is don’t worry about what others are doing. It is none of your concern. This is precisely the response that one newcomer got from from the World Board of NA after calling to call attention to a man with seventeen years of sobriety that made 13th stepping a regular habit. “What this man does is single out the newcomers. He’s around fifty years old and keeps an eye open for any fresh meat that comes through the doors. Doesn’t matter their age. They could be his age, or even under 18. If they look good to him, he pounces. He got to me when I had about thirty days sober. What these guys do is take women like me who have to leave everything behind in order to start a new life, and they sort of brainwash us I guess, make us feel like we can depend on someone and that all is not lost. What eventually ends up happening is that these girls and women build their foundation upon him and other men like him, and eventually they find out that not only is he lying to her, he’s screwing just about every other chick in the room. I’ve talked to women who wanted to kill themselves over this guy, and let me be real clear about this, it’s not just the guy that makes them feel this way. It’s the head game. These women are already at their lowest and desperately just need to feel like someone cares and we all know that’s human nature. This one man in particular is known on a national level in NA and has even gone as far as to pick up a sponsor on the World Board. I have no doubt that was intentional. He serves on state boards in Nebraska and attends national conferences where he is invited to speak often. Everyone knows about him, and when I called the World Board to report him and the damage he was causing, I was essentially told to go call someone who cares, that they don’t take anyone’s inventory. This isn’t a joke. The guy has something like 14 felonies, is one of the most manipulative men I’ve ever met and people just laugh it off while high-fiving him for being the guy that has three girlfriends in every state in the U.S. Meanwhile women keep relapsing over it. Some have relapsed over and over because he just doesn’t stop. This one guy and his actions have the potential to kill several, and he’s only one of hundreds, if not thousands who are lurking,” said one anonymous NA member. Continue reading

AA Sponsor Convicted of 24 Counts Of Sex Abuse of Children he was Sponsoring in Alcoholics Anonymous California

pacific_health_systems_1381972470493.jpg

In 2009, Poizner was a volunteer counselor at Pacific Health Systems, a substance abuse rehabilitation center. There, he introduced himself to and befriended adolescent boys who were attending Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and other group meetings, telling one of the boys he was there to help keep himself sober and assist other teenage boys. He then brought the boys to his apartment where he committed acts summarized below and for which he was convicted of the above-referenced offenses. At trial, each victim testified about Poizner’s conduct and touching, and the circumstances that otherwise led to the charges against him. Like Poizner’s opening brief, our factual summary focuses mainly on the evidence supporting the felony sexual assault offenses against Austin G., Brandon P., Evan W., and Andrew D.

Robert Poizner convicted on 24 counts of sex abuse towards children with at least two 13 year old boys he was taking to Alcoholics Anonymous as an AA Sponsor, while they were under the care of Pacific Health Systems in National City, California.

Lawsuit claims National City treatment facility did not protect young patients

Robert Poizner convicted of molesting patients

NATIONAL CITY, Calif. – A lawsuit has been filed against a treatment facility in National City after one of its volunteer counselors was convicted of sexually abusing young patients.

Robert Poizner was convicted of 24 counts of sex abuse against children, and two of his victims were 13-year-old patients at Pacific Health Systems, a facility that treats a variety of mental health issues and additions.

According to court documents obtained by 10News, Poizner was a volunteer at PHS and was supposed to be taking teenage boys to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Instead, he took them back to his apartment and molested them, the documents stated.

“The program requires for them to get an AA sponsor … We do a lot of these cases; I’ve seen these predators, it’s unbelievable. They know where to go and which kids they can groom. These are vulnerable kids and they are at their most vulnerable state, and PHS had an obligation to keep these kids safe and they failed in this regard,” said attorney Stephen Estey, who is now representing one of Poizner’s teenage victims.

The suit alleges PHS did not do enough to protect its young patients.

Estey said by law, the facility is required to conduct criminal background screenings on anyone working or volunteering with children. Poizner had several felony convictions ranging from burglaries to three “peeping Tom” charges, where a judge had ordered him to a year in a sex offender program.

“If the facility uses volunteers, they are obligated to screen them and supervise them too, and they did neither,” said Estey.

According to court documents, Poizner offered the boys cigarettes and pornography. He lured the boys to his home, where he gained access to two of their friends, who he also sexually assaulted, the documents said. Continue reading

Sex offenders on probation across the state received unannounced visits Halloween night from their Probation Officers to ensure that they did not open their doors to trick or treaters.

Probation Officers had taken a number of precautionary measures to prevent sex offenders on probation from coming into contact with children, 16 and under, this Halloween.

In addition to the unannounced visits Sunday evening, Probation Officers began warning sex offenders over the past two weeks to not answer their doors, turn on porch lights, or set-up Halloween decorations outside of their homes.

Probation Officers have also instructed the offenders to attend an AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) or NA (Narcotics Anonymous) meeting during the peak trick or treating time period.

A homeless man suspected of robbing an East Naples bank at gunpoint Monday morning turned the gun on himself when Collier County sheriff’s deputies tracked him down at a Naples hotel later that day.

Gary Stewart, 55, died of the self-inflicted gunshot wound at Lee Memorial Hospital.

Less than an hour before the robbery, Stewart had attended an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting with others from the St. Matthew’s House homeless shelter, another resident said. After the meeting, he left on his bike.

Wearing a long-sleeve shirt and a black ski mask, authorities believe Stewart walked into the Wells Fargo 125 N. Airport-Pulling Road just before 10 a.m., and demanded money from a teller at gunpoint.

Stewart spotted deputies as they approached the hotel room where he was holed up later that day, reports said. Deputies reported hearing gunfire. When they eventually entered the room, they reported finding Stewart suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

“It’s a loss,” said James Henry, a St. Matthew’s House resident who knew Stewart and happened to be in the bank at the time it was robbed. “It’s sad that his life had to end like that.”

on September 24, 2013

Tory Bryant’s mother Rosalyn Bryant asked Judge Tina S. Page in Hampden Superior Court on Tuesday to find a way to get him help he needs.

Rosalyn Bryant said her son would never have set her house on fire – with her, his 5-year-old daughter, and another 7-year-old inside – if he hadn’t been drunk and high on drugs.

Page said since she was appointed to the bench 15 years ago, she has repeatedly talked about the need for a secure facility to which she could sentence people with mental-health issues such as the 24-year-old Bryant.

But since there is no such facility, Page imposed a 2 1/2- to four-year sentence to state prison. Tory Bryan pleaded guilty to charges, admitting he set the fire at the family home.

Another AA Member Financially Scams an Elderly Man he Met at Alcoholics Anonymous

AA is a hot spot for Crooks Scamming Senior Citizens. Yet AA has voted to do nothing to protect the Elderly in AA Meetings.

Man stole from elderly, avoids prison sentence but must repay money

SANDUSKY REGISTER STAFF PORT CLINTON SEPTEMBER 22nd, 2013

A Norwalk man who stole $11,000 from an 78-year-old man he met at Alcoholics Anonymous received a suspended prison sentence, but was ordered to repay the money, according to Ottawa County court records
Timothy Gilbert, 42, was charged after bank employees called police in December 2011 when they noticed the elderly man making unusual withdrawals from his bank account.

Gilbert had fed the man a story about needing $11,000 to get his father’s inheritance, and the victim agreed to lend him the money, according to police reports.

Gilbert was eventually charged with theft from the elderly. He was sentenced Thursday to more than three years in prison on the theft case and a 2011 theft case.

The prison time was suspended, and Gilbert was instead placed on three years probation and ordered to repay the $11,000, according to court records. He was also ordered to complete 100 hours of community service. NA Daytona Beach Area Schedule.

NA Meetings Disrupts California Chico State University Student Neighborhood by Harassing Young Women

This building on Cherry Street holds Narcotics Anonymous meetings in a student neighborhood. PHOTO BY TOM GASCOYNE

Here is another neighborhood having problems with NA Meetings. We can sure relate to this in our parks in Holly Hill Florida Volusia County. We have both AA and NA meetings with a long history of violating park rules and threatening and harassing citizens. I hope these Chico students can get some relief.

Unease over location of Narcotics Anonymous meetings

The landlords and parents of Chico State students who reside near the intersection of Cherry and Sixth streets are a bit up in arms these days over a new neighbor who’s moved into the building that for years housed Ed’s Printing.

The new neighbor is technically the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, a local church that hosts Narcotics Anonymous meetings in the building. The meetings began in May. The building, located at 550 Cherry St., is owned by the “Gordon G. Living Grier Trust.”

The concerns voiced by the landlords and parents are directed at the people who come to the 17 weekly NA meetings, stand outside the building and smoke cigarettes, and, according to some, spread needles on the sidewalks. They also allegedly go through trash receptacles and make unsavory remarks to the young women who live nearby or walk past on their way to school. Robert Combs is the parent of a student currently attending Chico State. He says his daughter and roommate had to move out of a nearby house because of the presence of attendees at the NA meetings. Combs is a Chico State graduate and is president of the school’s Parent Advisory Council.

In an email titled “Has Chico Lost its Sense of Place?” Combs writes that his daughter “was very concerned to see those seeking counseling were loitering outside the facility prior to meetings, smoking, going through the students’ garbage and making lewd comments to our young adults, many of whom are on their own for the first time.” Continue reading

Dangerous and Religious AA Meetings Should Not Be The Only Option for Drug Addiction or Alcoholics

The news is finally getting out that this country needs better options than Alcoholics Anonymous or other 12 step programs for drug and alcohol addiction. AA is losing control over preventing anything negative being printed about them in the media. Thanks Chelsea Carmona for writing this excellent piece! AA has been an abysmal failure and the cause of many rapes, deaths and suicides.

Alcoholics Need More Options than AA

It’s no surprise that faith-based programs are particularly ill-suited to atheists and agnostics

By  @CarmonaChelsea    Sept. 19, 2013

Should atheists be forced to participate in faith-based recovery programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)? The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals recently said no, unanimously siding with drug offender Barry A. Hazle Jr. after state officials mandated his participation in AA. Court documents state that Hazle’s requests for a secular alternative were repeatedly denied by both his parole officer and representatives from the state-contracted mental health service provider, West Care. For violating his parole, Hazle was arrested and incarcerated for over 100 additional days. NA Daytona Meetings in Daytona.

The appeals court ordered a Sacramento district judge to consider preventing state officials from requiring 12-step treatment as a part of the parole program. But it’s going to be difficult, because this one-size-fits-all prescription – 12-step meetings and 12-step-based group therapy for everyone – reigns supreme in treatment today. Nearly eight out of ten private programs use 12-step recovery, with two-thirds compelling patients to attend meetings, according to researchers working on the University of Georgia’s National Treatment Center Study and cited in Inside Rehab by Anne Fletcher. Public programs, frequently starved for funding, aren’t much better. In fact, West Care, California’s sole drug treatment provider, only contracts with religious-based treatment programs.

But even if they’re rarely acknowledged in today’s treatment community, there are many alternatives to 12-step fellowships such as SMART Recovery, Secular Organizations for Sobriety, and Specifically For Women. This is important because a national survey published in 2007 concluded that an addicted person was just as likely to stay sober whether they were involved in AA or another support group. In fact, it would behoove treatment providers to match people with a support system that’s suitable to their preferences, because group participation is associated with increased abstinence. Daytona Beach NA Meeting The Third Tradition Continues to Smoke in Centennial Park Holly Hill

A typical Saturday night at Centennial Park in Holly Hill Florida with NA Daytona members meeting for a 12 step meeting called  “The Third Tradition”. They continue to smoke almost a year after the No Smoking Rules have gone into effect. What message does this send to the children they bring to the meetings when they see their parents totally ignoring City park rules? Daytona NA members sit right under the no smoking sign on the pavilion and just next to the large sign stating No Smoking. Plus they are parking on the grass and double parking with cars and motorcycles. What makes them think they are so special that they do not have to follow park rules? NA and AA Daytona Meetings in Holly Hill.

AA Grapevine talking about AA member stalking a 13 Year old Girl at an AA meeting in the AA Grapevine September 2013 edition entitled “Keeping AA Safe” and the story called “Unacceptable.” Very sick puppies, you don’t expect the AA members recruited from jails and prisons to protect 13 year old girls you prevent them from stepping foot in the rooms first. Too little, too late, they have been covering this stuff up for 78 years….
