David Adamson, 47, admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm, assault and drink-driving and was given a five-year restraining order

A recovering alcoholic has been banned from contacting his estranged wife after he assaulted her, causing her a broken hip.

David Adamson was challenged by his adult daughter about his behaviour after his wife said she couldn’t cope with him anymore.

He was foul-mouthed and abusive to his daughter for waking him up at about 2am, Teesside Crown Court heard. NA Daytona Meetings in Holly Hill and Port Orange.

His daughter went downstairs and picked up a breadknife to protect herself from what might happen, said prosecutor David Crook yesterday.

She said she had no intention of using it, just to scare him.

Adamson, 47, threw a chair at his daughter and tried to punch her, but did not hit her, the court was told. AA Daytona Sunrise Group Volusia County Intergroup.

He walked to the front door and when his wife followed him, he pushed her, it was said. She fell to the floor unconscious, fracturing her hip.

Men need to be careful too attending AA meetings, as female killers attend as well to impress the judge to get lighter sentences. She attended AA for 3 years after stabbing her lover death before her plea deal.

A woman who killed her lover during a booze-fueled night in 2010 has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and requested her bail be revoked so she can begin serving her expected six-year sentence. NA and AA Daytona Beach Meeting.

Renee Laurence, 34, who admitted guilt in the 2010 stabbing death of Greg Goodeve, called an end to court proceedings that were expected to continue until 2015, had it not been for the Nov. 1 plea bargain. Continue reading →

Man Accused Of Tying Up And Kidnapping Two People In Grayson County

GRAYSON COUNTY, TX — A West Texas man is accused of taking two people on a wild ride after tying them up with cords.

Troy Stills, 30, of Roby, Tex., was indicted on two counts of aggravated kidnapping.  According to court documents, Stills tied up his mom and her boyfriend in June while he was staying on their property, using cords from a lamp and a hot plate.

He allegedly told them he wanted a ride to abilene to kill his ex-wife and children because he was told he couldn’t see them.

They wound up at his Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor’s house near Van Alstyne, where he got out, and the alleged victims got away, documents state.

Stills is being held in lieu of $150,000 bond while awaiting trial.  If convicted, he could face from five years to life in prison.

A couple of years ago I went to the Atlantic Group in New York. It was springtime, and the moneyed Upper East Side was in full bloom. The AA meeting, known as AG, was holding its anniversary party. The large Christ Church on Park Avenue had members milling about in its courtyard, sipping the Starbucks coffee the group serves, a few smoking on the sidewalk. The men wore suits and ties. Inside, a beaming young woman offered me a name tag, and wished me luck in finding a seat. I knew the meeting was well attended, but the church was overflowing with members. Volusia County Drug Court and AA and NA Meetings in Daytona Beach.

AG is well known in New York AA. Depending on who’s talking, it either represents “Real Recovery” or an off-putting, overly rigid interpretation of AA doctrine. AG members have strongly worded suggestions about sobriety: You should have a sponsor who has a sponsor who has gone through the 12 Steps with another AG member; when you speak at any AA meeting you should wear a suit and tie or the female equivalent; the use of anti-depressants is discouraged; and the use of profanity is not allowed during qualifications.
