Retired Catholic Priest Charged In Holly Hill Sex Sting At Ross Point Park

Holly Hill undercover police nabs 6 men in sex sting, including Paige A.Blakely a retired Catholic Priest! He told police that this was not an uncommon event for him as he goes “cruising” to meet up with men. This has been a problem in Holly Hill Parks for many years. Even though local citizens and businesses have complained to Holly Hill PD about activity at Sunrise Park for years, the department has done little to stop the crime there. Daytona Beach Narcotics Anonymous members even thwarted efforts by the community by removing Security Camera Signs! It seems they felt it might deter their court mandated felons and other criminals from coming to their Park meetings. How incredibly selfish is that? The police and AA/NA know that level 3 sex offenders and violent criminals are mandated to AA Daytona and NA Daytona thoughout Volusia County and the United States. Holly Hill PD has been notified that Sunrise Park is listed online as a “cruising area” for years. They are also aware of sex crimes at Sunrise Park, Holly Land Park and Centennial Park for a very long time.

Accused was a former Catholic priest at St. Ann’s R.C. Church in DeBary

Paige BlakelyCourtesy photos / Paige A. Blakely, 61, shown in handcuffs in the larger photo by Holly Hill police, and in an earlier photo when he was a Catholic priest at St. Ann’s Church in DeBary, was among half a dozen men charged in a gay sex sting Thursday in a park restroom.

HOLLY HILL — A 61-year-old former pastor and retired Catholic priest who lives in New Smyrna Beach, is among a group of men rounded up in a sting alleging gay sex in a restroom at Ross Point Park in Holly, police said.

Blakely, a former pastor at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in DeBary, exposed himself to an undercover cop and allegedly told him he was “trying to experience what it was like,” and that was trying to get a “thrill” at the same time, police said. He also made a reference to “cruising,” a term men use when looking for gay sex, according to his charging affidavit.

Blakely was issued a summons charging him with exposure of sexual organs. However, Blakely was subsequently released from police custody without transport to the Volusia County Branch Jail where he would have had to post bail. He and the other five men were issued trespass warnings not to return to the park. NSBNews.net has been unable to reach him for comment.

The Diocese of Orlando released a statement stating Blakely had contacted Bishop John Noonan and informed him that he had “received a summons from the Holly Hill Police Department for a misdemeanor allegation regarding indecent exposure.” The diocese said the bishop barred Blakely from acting o functioning as a priest, pending the legal outcome of the criminal case against him.

The other five men arrested in the Holly Hill sting include:

Bernard Henry Cowart, 52, of Holly Hill, exposure of sexual organs and resisting arrest without violence;

Pope Benedict XVI speaking of child sex abuse is not exclusive to the Catholic Church. All institutions need to address the problem with’exacting standards’.This would also include Corporate Alcoholics Anonymous and Corporate Narcotics Anonymous that has been known for sexual abuse by their members, yet they cover it up and actually encourage minors to attend meetings alongside sexual offenders.

NA MEMBER-PEDOPHILE RAPES 15 YEAR OLD AT CENTENNIAL PARK HOLLY HILL FLORIDA

Here we have a man James E.Walker, convicted sexual offender raped a minor again in Centennial Park back in 2007. James Walker is now a convicted sex predator after the rape of this boy. Holly Hill allows sexual offenders in their parks. Mark Barker of the Police Department stating that sex crimes in Holly Hill Parks are common. They had made 9 arrests already that year. Fast forward November 2011 and Holly Hill is having a sex crime sting in Ross Point. Four years later and the City of Holly Hill has not stopped allowing sexual offenders in our parks?

What is wrong with this picture? Daytona Beach has strict sexual offender/predator laws and do not allow drug rehab businesses like AA to set up shop in their parks. Why is the City of Holly Hill so laid back about protecting the citizens and allowing pedophiles and sex predators in our parks?

A registered sex offender is back in jail after Holly Hill police charged him with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy in a park restroom Friday.
Police said the boy missed the bus and was walking to Mainland High School in nearby Daytona Beach when he stopped at Centennial Park about 8 a.m. to use the bathroom.

The boy had just sat down in a stall when police said James E. Walker, 38, of Holly Hill, slid underneath.

Walker pinned the youth to the wall, performed a sex act on him and then fled, said Cmdr. Mark Barker of the Holly Hill Police Department.

The boy, who was otherwise uninjured, alerted a groundskeeper at the lakefront park on 10th Street. Authorities said a police officer found Walker in the parking lot of his apartment complex about a half-mile away.

Parks in Holly Hill are not off-limits to sex offenders, only sexual predators, who have committed more violent crimes and can’t live near parks.

Walker got out of prison in April after serving less than half of a 15-year sentence for lewd and lascivious assault on a child under age 16, according to the Florida Department of Corrections.

In 1996, he was among the Volusia County men who were the focus of a six-month Orlando Sentinel investigation of pedophiles in the Daytona area.

Walker was able to leave prison early in part because the laws in effect at the time of his offense allowed him to earn considerably more time off his sentence for good behavior, said Jo Ellyn Rackleff, a spokeswoman for the Florida Department of Corrections.

Today, prisoners cannot work off more than 15 percent of their jail time, she said.

Walker also has been arrested on drug charges in Bay County, in Florida’s Panhandle.

Barker said sex crimes in parks aren’t unusual. Police made nine arrests this year.

Walker is being held without bail at the Volusia County Branch Jail on charges of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child under 16, exposure of sexual organs, false imprisonment, simple battery and resisting arrest with violence.

Sex Offender Accused Of Assaulting Boy In Bathroom

HOLLY HILL, Fla. — November 10th 2007

A convicted sex offender sexually attacked a boy in a public bathroom Friday morning when the boy stopped to use the restroom at Centennial Park on his way to school, according to Holly Hill police. SLIDESHOW: Images Of Suspect’s Arrest, Park BathroomOFFENDER FLYER:Info On Suspect From FDLESEARCH:Do Sex Offenders Live In Your Neighborhood? The suspect already served a seven-year prison sentence for lewd conduct with a child and he just got out in April. He lived about a half-mile from the park restroom where police said he molested the 15-year-old boy.James Walker, 38, was defiant after his arrest.”I did not do this. You’re full of s***,” Walker told Eyewitness News as he was taken into custody, adamant that he had nothing to do with the sexual attack.

“Mr. Walker represents truly the worst of the worst,” said Mark Barker, Holly Hill Police Department.

Police collected evidence from the scene Friday where they say the registered sex offender attacked a 15-year-old boy. The teen was on his way to school, stopped to use the bathroom and investigators said Walker climbed up underneath the door of the stall. Once in the stall, police said, Walker struggled with the boy and held him against the wall while he touched himself.

After the attack, the boy found a park employee who called police.

“I can’t begin to tell you the level of frustration that I and my officers feel on the heels of this incident,” Barker said.

Police immediately spread out to look for the suspect and a sergeant noticed Walker at a nearby intersection. As soon as he stopped to try to talk to Walker, he ran. The officer tried to stop him with a taser, but missed the shot. He ended up catching Walker in the back parking lot of the apartment building where Walker lived.

Only out of prison for seven months, Walker faces five charges now that could put him back behind bars.

“I was never in no bathroom,” Walker insisted.

The news is already spurring calls for a change in Holly Hill. The mayor told Eyewitness News he will suggest changing all public bathrooms to single rooms with locking doors to prevent similar incidents.

UPDATE-AA MEMBER WAS COURT ORDERED WHO SHOT WOMAN AT ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS MEETING

This is becoming more and more common at AA meetings.Since Drug Courts started mandating AA/NA meetings over 20 years ago,and these courts have exploded across this country. So has the reporting of violence in relation to these meetings. Men,women and children have been traumatized for decades by 13 steppers, felons, financial and sexual predators that were their fellow members.

Is it going to take a tragedy in Holly Hill Florida for the City to protect children and families from court mandated, government sponsored 12 step meetings located in their playgrounds to do something? There has been cries for help from locals to the police and commissioners after threats of violence.Yet NOTHING. Liz Towsley Patton stated about the appearance of city officials looking like they are in bed with someone, she has a point. The City does looks like they are in bed with many folks.Where does it end? When will it end?

BALDWIN PARK – Police Thursday sought the public’s help in tracking down a Baldwin Park man who accused of shooting a pregnant woman in the head after getting into a fight with her husband at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.

Omar Martinez, 19, is wanted for attempted murder, Baldwin Park police Lt. David Reynoso said. He’s believed to be hiding in the West Covina or Los Angeles areas.

Martinez was attending a court-ordered AA meeting about 7:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at a church at Los Angeles Street and Stewart Avenue when he got into a fight with another man in his 20s who was attending the meeting, police said.

The fight was broken up and the men separated and left, Reynoso said.

“The intended victim left the meeting and entered a vehicle driven by his pregnant wife,” Baldwin Park police said in a written statement. “Suspect

Martinez followed the intended victim and shot twice at the vehicle as it left.”

The woman driving the car was struck in the back of the head, Reynoso said. She was initially hospitalized in critical condition, however she’s since been updated to stable condition.

Police have learned the woman was several weeks into a pregnancy at the time she was shot, and has since miscarried.

“At this time, we haven’t been able to determine if the miscarriage is related to the crime,” Reynoso said.

Martinez fled after the shooting and hasn’t been seen since, Reynoso said.

He was immediately identified as the shooter by witnesses who knew him

from the AA group, and he left his AA membership card behind when he fled the scene, the lieutenant said.

Woman Shot At Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting On Church Property

When are the churches going to wise up to the dangers they are bringing into their churches by renting to AA and NA groups ? Many groups do not carry insurance, and the insurance carriers are typically unaware of these agreements the churches have with court mandated felons(including sexual predators) receiving the required meetings in their meeting halls. Many meetings take place while activities involving children are on church property. Some pastors have been made aware of sexual offenders at the AA/NA meetings when children are on church property, and they have refused to do anything. When are these people going to put the children first?

Woman Shot in the Head After Fight Spills Out of AA Meeting

A fight broke out between two AA members—and the wife of one of them took a bullet in the head.

By Will Godfrey

11/11/11 A woman was shot in the head as she sat in a car outside an AA meeting in Baldwin Park, LA County, Thursday night. A fistfight broke out between two men during the meeting at First Presbyterian Church of Baldwin Park at around 7:30pm. Cops said one of the combatants was the woman’s husband. The struggle spilled out into the parking lot, where one of the men pulled a handgun. His shot was aimed at the husband, but hit the woman in the car instead, as the vehicle veered across the street and into a fence on the other side. The suspect, described as a Latino male around 20 years old, fled the scene. The victim was taken to LA County USC Medical Center, where her condition was described as stable. Shocking as the incident may seem, it’s far from the firstoutbreak of AA-related violence.

SEX OFFENDER OF GIRL MANDATED TO AA 3 TIMES A WEEK

This is actually the stepfather of the young girl who was convicted of sexually assaulting her.It is an unacceptable practice of mandating sexual offenders to AA/NA where children are often present along with underage teens. Also minors are actively encouraged by AA/NA themselves. They are even going into our high schools trying to expand their base !

KEARNEY — A Ravenna man is serving a 9-month jail sentence for sexually assaulting a girl.

The man was also placed on three years’ probation for a second charge of felony-attempted incest of the same girl. The man’s name is being withheld to protect the victim’s identify.

Under his probation, the man must complete intensive outpatient counseling, attend Alcoholic’s Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous three times a week and obtain his GED. Judge John Icenogle sentenced the man last week in Buffalo County District Court.

The man pleaded no contest to the charges in July. Both incidents happened in October 2009 in Ravenna and involved the same girl.

AA MEMBER SCAMMED FELLOW MEMBERS

Here is a man who bilked his fellow AA members out of lots of money! He would befriend those vulnerable in Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and gain their trust.

Richard Mayfield (credit: Larimer County Sheriff's Office)

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) – A man accused of bilking dozens of Coloradans out of tens of thousands of dollars told CBS4 they accusers were making legitimate investments.

Investigators say Richard Mayfield, 72, befriended the alleged victims at places including church and Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Investigators say Mayfield told investors in the Maverick Sales Group they were investing in his patented sales training program called “The Last Sales Seminar.”

“People were thinking they were buying some intellectual property. The problem was, there was no intellectual property,” :Sgt. Don Whitson with Fort Collins police said.

Whitson said they’ve been investigating Mayfield for several years.

“He would befriend people in places that people were vulnerable; alcoholics anonymous, church, friends of friends, family,” Whitson said. “He made a lot of references to how Jesus would be as a salesman. There were a lot of religious connotations to that and I think that in large part that’s how he befriended a lot of his victims.”
Police say there are at least 40 victims so far; many in their 70s, 80s and 90s. The arrest affidavit shows that at least six alleged victims lost more than $20,000 and one lost more than $50,000.
