Woman Shot At Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting On Church Property

When are the churches going to wise up to the dangers they are bringing into their churches by renting to AA and NA groups ? Many groups do not carry insurance, and the insurance carriers are typically unaware of these agreements the churches have with court mandated felons(including sexual predators) receiving the required meetings in their meeting halls. Many meetings take place while activities involving children are on church property. Some pastors have been made aware of sexual offenders at the AA/NA meetings when children are on church property, and they have refused to do anything. When are these people going to put the children first?

Woman Shot in the Head After Fight Spills Out of AA Meeting

A fight broke out between two AA members—and the wife of one of them took a bullet in the head.

11/11/11 A woman was shot in the head as she sat in a car outside an AA meeting in Baldwin Park, LA County, Thursday night. A fistfight broke out between two men during the meeting at First Presbyterian Church of Baldwin Park at around 7:30pm. Cops said one of the combatants was the woman’s husband. The struggle spilled out into the parking lot, where one of the men pulled a handgun. His shot was aimed at the husband, but hit the woman in the car instead, as the vehicle veered across the street and into a fence on the other side. The suspect, described as a Latino male around 20 years old, fled the scene. The victim was taken to LA County USC Medical Center, where her condition was described as stable. Shocking as the incident may seem, it’s far from the firstoutbreak of AA-related violence.

Volusia County Fl Lead War on Internet Sexual Predators

Law enforcement agencies partnering with the Florida Sheriff’s Association have started carrying out online stings to catch sex offenders, said Sheriff Ben Johnson, president of the association.

“The Internet makes the world so small that people are targeting children everywhere,” Johnson said. “We are going to go wherever we can to get them off the streets.”

On Sept. 12, the Florida Sheriff’s Association announced it was “declaring war on the online predator epidemic by sharing its Cyber Sexual Predator Initiative with any Florida law enforcement organizations that would like to implement this program in their communities.”

Six days earlier, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office announced it arrested 15 men in an undercover Internet sting in Volusia.

“The sad thing is how quickly these offenders jumped on it,” Johnson said. “It makes you wonder how many times they have gone out and made a victim.”

What was alarming about the sting was how willing the sex offenders were to accept offers of children for sex from detectives posing as parents.’

Now if these sexual predators of children are convicted, and they have any sort of drug or alcohol problem-where do you think the courts send them to? Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, with no warning to the groups or the minors. Both AA/NA promote people and minors to come to these meetings when they are fully aware the dangerous demographic make-up of many AA/NA meetings. The Sheriffs Office should investigate how many sexual predators are attending meetings with children and teens present in Daytona Beach Florida and the rest of the state.Actually this is a national issue. The judicial system needs to stop mandating AA/NA attendance to sexual offenders and violent felons, especially with the judicial system and probation officers having full knowledge of this practice that puts minors in great danger. Many minors have been harmed and will continue to until this practice of mixing sexual offenders and minors together stops.

12 Step Psychologist Arrested On Attempted Rape Of 10 Year Old Boy

12 step AA/NA promoting Psychologist charged in attempting to rape a 10 year old boy.

AA turns a Blind Eye to Sexual Predators In Meetings

AA states clearly that they have problems with sexual predators within AA groups.Yet they have stated as an organization they have no responsibility to do doing anything to prevent or warn minors or other members about this danger.

This is disturbing that AA refuses to take any responsibility or accountability for the safety of members. If you feel this is wrong call AA headquarters in New York City. There phone number is 212-870-3400.

On top of this, AA encourages teens to come to meetings not warning them, knowing sexual predators are a growing problem, as the judicial system is adding this danger to members.

AA does not belong in parks and playgrounds where children are at risk.

NA Daytona Member Just Released From Prison Charged With Attempted Rape

As court records show, NA Member Brandon Boruty shortly after being released from state prison tried to violently rape a woman in Daytona Beach Fl. Brandon Boruty had been arrested over 20 times in the past for domestic assault, cocaine charges and many other crimes.

The Drug Courts need to have AA/NA meetings just for people charged with felonies. They should not be sending them to meetings where the AA/NA members are clueless to their crimes and where minors are put in great danger by being exposed to these criminals. Boruty is a very dangerous man with a very long rap sheet. Check him out on www.volusia.org and click on inmate information on the right hand side.

DAYTONA BEACH — A man just released from prison tried to rape a woman in her apartment Thursday morning moments after he met her, police said.

A woman told police she was introduced about 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning to the man, later identified as Brandon Boruty, according to an arrest affidavit from the Daytona Beach Police Department.

The woman told officers she and Boruty and two other people were in her apartment. But when the others left, Boruty locked the apartment door and told the woman he had just gotten out of prison and was going to have sex with her, according to the affidavit.

The woman tried to escape the apartment but Boruty hit her on the head and knocked her to the floor, the affidavit states. Boruty got on top of the woman and placed his hand on her mouth but she was able to scream for help and someone began knocking on the door, authorities said.

Authorities said the woman was able to get out of the apartment and Boruty fled as well. He was later apprehended by officers and identified by the woman and two witnesses who saw Boruty run out of the apartment, police said.

Boruty, of Daytona Beach, was charged Thursday with attempted rape, false imprisonment and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was being held Thursday night on $20,500 bail at the Volusia County Branch Jail.

According to Department of Corrections records, Boruty was sentenced on a cocaine charge to one year and two months in prison in February but was released Saturday. He has been imprisoned three other times, according to state records.

Crown breaks down describing rape victim’s devastation

A Manitoba Crown attorney wept Monday as she described how a rape victim has been devastated by the attack.

Jocelyn Ritchot had to pause several times as she struggled to read a statement on behalf of the woman, whose 46-year-old former boyfriend pleaded guilty to several charges. He was sentenced to three years in prison in addition to 18 months of time already served. His name isn’t being published to protect the identity of the victim.

“I trusted you. I cared for you. I only wanted the best for you. Why, why, why?” the woman wrote. “Emotionally I felt dirty, used, guilty that somehow I allowed it to happen, and very degraded. I feel like my soul has been robbed.”

The victim — who wasn’t present for the sentencing hearing — began dating the man after they met at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting in 2007, court was told. They ended their romance in July 2008 but continued to be friends. However, everything changed when the woman went to his Beausejour-area home in September 2008 and found him intoxicated.

“I wanted to help him. I felt sorry for him. Then it became a nightmare,” she wrote.

The man put duct tape over her face, bound her hands and legs together and then sodomized her. He also demanded she call her 18-year-old daughter to come over so he could sexually assault her while she watched. She was repeatedly beaten when she refused. The man also threatened to hit her with a lead pipe.

“No mother should ever be put in that position,” Ritchot told court. “He had no regard for the feelings or personal integrity of the victim.”
