Neighbors Had Complained To Police Before About George Zimmerman Who Killed Teen Trayvon Martin

Here is a case where neighbors of George Zimmerman had went to police and complained about his aggressive tactics as Captain of his community watch group. He encouraged others to carry firearms. Yet police did not follow up on those complaints. After the killing of teenager Trayvon Martin, 17 by George Zimmerman, police told the family he had a squeaky clean record. This was not true as he had entered into a differed court program , at this time we do not know if he was mandated to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings or not. It did involve violence with a police officer over his friend selling alcohol to minors. Time will tell.

Sanford in Seminole County is not far from Holly Hill Florida, where we have a similar situation where Police Chief Barker totally dismisses the complaints from local citizens about aggressive behavior from Daytona Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings and Daytona Narcotics Anonymous members in our Parks. Citizens http://nadaytona.org/rude-awakening/  have been threatened to use a gun against Holly Hill Residents and businesses. Maybe the City of Holly Hill will see the error in their ways, and protect the public that visits our parks. The Sanford Police Chief has stepped down. Good idea!

George Zimmerman Neighbors Complained About Aggressive Tactics Before Trayvon Martin Killing

A volunteer community watch captain who shot an unarmed Florida teenager to death last month had been the subject of complaints by neighbors in his gated community for aggressive tactics, a homeowner said.

George Zimmerman has not been charged in the Feb. 26 shooting of Trayvon Martin, 17, who was walking home from a convenience store in Sanford, Fla., near Orlando. Zimmerman, who patrolled the Retreat at Twin Lakes development in his own car, had been called aggressive in earlier complaints to the local police and the homeowner’s association, according to a homeowner who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

At an emergency homeowner’s association meeting on March 1, “one man was escorted out because he openly expressed his frustration because he had previously contacted the Sanford Police Department about Zimmerman approaching him and even coming to his home,” the resident wrote in an email to HuffPost. “It was also made known that there had been several complaints about George Zimmerman and his tactics” in his neighborhood watch captain role.

The meeting was attended by Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee, the detective assigned to the investigation and an unnamed member of the city council, according to the homeowner’s association newsletter. The chief couldn’t immediately be reached for comment about the complaints. A member of the homeowner’s association board, who asked not to be quoted by name, said she “hadn’t heard about any complaints” about Zimmerman. Zimmerman’s phone number is disconnected and efforts to reach him have been unsuccessful.

Talk of prior complaints against Zimmerman comes as pressure mounts on law enforcement. Protesters have gathered outside Sanford police headquarters. The Martin’s family and attorneys have held press conferences calling the killing an outrage and pleading for Zimmerman’s arrest. High school classmates and citizens are granting interviews to reporters asking why no one has been charged. And as the story continues to gain national media attention, civil rights leaders, including members of the NAACP and the Rev. Al Sharpton, said they are preparing to join the family of Martin, who was black. Zimmerman is white.

“This case is disturbing to say the least,” Sharpton told Huffpost. “This is appalling, to think that this guy admitted to initiating the conversation and that there was no crime other than the killing of this young man. Yet, [Zimmerman] is walking around with no threat of an arrest.”

Sharpton said he will travel to Florida this week.

Here is a case where neighbors of Georgr Zimmerman had went to police and complained about his aggressive tactics as Captain. George Zimmerman Arrested 11/18/2013.

Zimmerman called police the evening of the shooting to report Martin as a suspicious person, police have said. A dispatcher told Zimmerman to stand down and an officer was on the way. Zimmerman confronted the youth anyway and Martin was shot in the chest with Zimmerman’s 9 mm pistol, police said. Police questioned Zimmerman, then released him.

According to Martin’s family, police initially told them that Zimmerman said he acted in self-defense and that his record was “squeaky-clean.” Public records show he was arrested in Orange County in 2005 on charges of resisting arrest with violence and battery on a law enforcement officer. Those charges were later dropped.

Benjamin Crump, the Martin family’s attorney, filed a public records lawsuit last week seeking the 911 recordings for the night of the shooting. Crump said people with access to the tapes told him Zimmerman made a comment about Martin’s race during the call and said he had no intention of letting the youth get away because, “they always get away.”

“I don’t think they have any intention on arresting this white man for killing this black boy,” Crump said on Sharpton’s radio show Monday.

Chief Lee said during a Monday afternoon news conference that his department’s investigation should be concluded by Tuesday and delivered to the Seminole County State Attorney’s Office. Lynne Bumpus-Hooper, a spokeswoman for the State Attorney’s Office, said once the case is handed over “it will be thoroughly digested and we will make decisions.”

Protestors jeered Lee during the news conference when he said he does not believe his investigators have enough evidence to charge Zimmerman in the killing, according to local news accounts. Lee said that he believes that “we can get through all the ugly thoughts and all the disagreements and all the ill will and hard feelings and truly come together as a community.”

“It is with that thought that we want to make sure that we due a fair and complete and thorough investigation so that we can reach some form of justice with this event,” Lee said. He added “that there is the right for someone that has a concealed weapons permit to carry that weapon” and that police support the neighborhood watch program.

“In this case Mr. Zimmerman has made the statement of self defense,” Lee said. “Until we can establish probable cause to dispute that, we don’t have the grounds to arrest him.”

One person shouted, “The black community sees your department protecting the shooter,” and “a little black boy is dead.”

  1. George Zimmerman Arrested Novemver 18th 2013

    Surprise! Surprise!

(CNN) — [Breaking news alert at 5:08 p.m. ET
George Zimmerman, who was acquitted earlier this year of murdering teenager Trayvon Martin, was arrested Monday after he allegedly pointed a shotgun at his girlfriend, a spokesman for the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office said.

    George Zimmerman arrested in Florida
(CNN) — George Zimmerman was arrested Monday afternoon in central Florida “after deputies responded to a disturbance call,” the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Further details about Zimmerman’s arrest in Apopka, Florida, were not immediately released. He will be booked at the county’s correctional facility, the sheriff’s office said.
This is one of several brushes that Zimmerman has had with law enforcement since he was acquitted this year of murder and manslaughter in the 2012 shooting death of teenager Trayvon Martin.
Earlier this month, police in Lake Mary, Florida, said no charges will result from an alleged domestic dispute in September between George Zimmerman and his estranged wife, Shellie Zimmerman.
Shellie Zimmerman said in September that she has doubts about his innocence in the Trayvon Martin case.
Since his acquittal in the Martin case, Zimmerman also has been stopped for speeding twice. He was pulled over the first time in Forney, Texas, in July and told the police officer he had a concealed weapon permit and a gun in his glove compartment. The officer wrote on his incident report that he gave Zimmerman a verbal warning.
Zimmerman was pulled over in early September going 60 mph in a 45-mph zone in Lake Mary and received a $256 ticket. He was not carrying a weapon at the time.
His attorney in the murder trial, Mark O’Mara, no longer represents him.

  2. Every time I find out more about this case, it confirms that Trayvon Martin was an innocent teenager who was killed by someone with a violent record who profiled Blacks as suspicious.

We need to keep fighting for justice for Trayvon Martin. This is not over.

  3. George Zimmerman Is a ‘Liar’ Who Should Be Convicted of Murder, Prosecutor Says

By SENI TIENABESO (@seniABC) and MATT GUTMAN (@mattgutmanABC)
    SANFORD, Fla. July 11, 2013
George Zimmerman stared straight ahead for most of the afternoon as a prosecutor told the Florida jury that Zimmerman is a “liar” who should be convicted of second degree murder for shooting Trayvon Martin.

“A teenager is dead and he is dead through no fault of his own. He is dead because another man made assumptions,” said prosecutor Bernie de la Rionda.

De la Rionda told the all-female jury that Zimmerman, a former neighborhood watch captain, was an aspiring police officer who assumed incorrectly that Martin, 17, was a criminal.

Catch up on all the details from the George Zimmerman murder trial.

“What was his crime?” de la Rionda asked the jury about Martin. “He bought Skittles?”

Zimmerman, 29, faces second degree murder and manslaughter charges. If convicted of the top charge he could face up to life in prison.

The racially charged case began on Feb. 26, 2012 when Zimmerman called police to report what he said was a suspicious person in his neighborhood on a rainy night. He got out of his car to follow Martin, but claims he stopped when police asked him not to follow, but wanted to get an address for police.

Zimmerman told police that Martin confronted him, knocked him down and banged his head on the sidewalk and then started to reach for Zimmerman’s gun. Zimmerman grabbed the gun and shot Martin in self defense, he said.

  4. Zimmerman on Drugs With Violent Side Effects When He Killed Trayvon

May 20, 2012 By Kirsten West Savali

While the mainstream media made sure to report with exclamations and gasps that marijuana was found in Trayvon Martin‘s system on the night that he was killed, many outlets failed to also report that the level was well below what medical studies show cause “performance impairment.” The same can not be said for George Zimmerman. According to the paramedic report, the vigilante neighborhood watch captain was on the prescription drug Temazepam, reports MSNBC.com.

Temazepam, also known as Restoril, is known to cause insomnia and anxiety, reports MSNBC. But there are more important side effects that were not mentioned.

According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, the drug is also known to cause “aggressiveness” and “hallucinations,” among other problematic symptoms.

Maybe, now, the mainstream media will focus on Zimmerman — who not only has a prior violent criminal past, but was also on a mind-altering drug — instead of trying to vilify an innocent, 17-year-old child, who was murdered simply for trying to walk home to his father.

  5. SANFORD, Fla. — Trayvon Martin’s supporters fought for weeks to win an arrest after the 17-year-old was fatally shot by a neighborhood watch volunteer in Florida. Now George Zimmerman’s attorney has begun what could be a lengthy legal battle to free his client from the second-degree murder charge filed in the case.

The first step for Zimmerman attorney Mark O’Mara will be to try to get his client out of jail while the legal process continues. A hearing for the 28-year-old probably will be held on April 20 to determine if he will be allowed to post bail and leave jail, O’Mara said late Thursday.

Earlier Thursday, Zimmerman stood straight and held his shaved head high during a four-minute hearing at a jailhouse courtroom while prosecutors briefly outlined their murder case in court papers.

O’Mara said his client’s appearance and demeanor belies what he is going through.

“He is tired. He has gone through some tribulations,” said O’Mara after the court appearance. “He is facing second-degree murder charges now. He is frightened. That would frighten any of us.”

Zimmerman did not enter a plea during the hearing, although O’Mara previously said his client ultimately will plead not guilty. Zimmerman will be able to enter a plea during his May 29 arraignment

  6. It is reported that George Zimmerman went to an alcohol education program so charges would be dropped. I wonder if this was AA based? Was George an AA member? He had drinking issues and was known to be violent.

Video: Former Co-Worker Recalls George Zimmerman’s Violent Past

An unnamed former co-worker told the NY Daily News that George Zimmerman, who says he killed black teen Trayvon Martin out of self-defense, was paid under-the-table for providing security for illegal house parties between 2001 and 2005, but was fired because his anger issues “became a liability” and he was “being too aggressive.”

The former co-worker said: “Usually he was just a cool guy. He liked to drink and hang with the women like the rest of us. … But it was like Jekyll and Hyde. When the dude snapped, he snapped.”

“He had a temper and he became a liability. One time this woman was acting a little out of control. She was drunk. George lost his cool and totally overreacted. … It was weird, because he was such a cool guy, but he got all nuts. He picked her up and threw her. It was pure rage. She twisted her ankle. Everyone was flipping out.”

In 2005, the same year that Zimmerman lost his security guard job, he became involved in a scuffle with state alcohol agents. He was arrested for “resisting officer with violence” and “battery of law enforcement officer,” both third-degree felonies.

Those charges were dropped after he agreed to enter an alcohol education program.

MSNBC reported that his ex-fiancee, Veronica Zuazo, alleged domestic violence and filed a motion for a restraining order in 2005. Zimmerman then filed for a restraining order against Zuazo and both later dropped their motions.

  7. Obama weighs in on Sanford shooting; Flagler students stage gathering
    WIRE AND STAFF REPORT
    March 24, 2012 1:00 AM

From the White House and the campaign trail to a Flagler County high school and a Daytona Beach college campus, shows of support and calls for justice in the Trayvon Martin killing continue to mushroom.

President Barack Obama spoke in unusually personal terms Friday about the shooting death of the 17-year-old Martin, who was shot on Feb. 26 in Sanford by a neighborhood watch volunteer who said he was acting in self-defense.

“If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon,” Obama said, vowing to “get to the bottom of what happened.”

Closer to home, a few hundred students at Flagler Palm Coast High School walked out of class and gathered in the school’s courtyard Friday morning to pay their respects and pray for Martin.

The student-led gathering lasted about 30 to 40 minutes, said Janet Valentine, superintendent of Flagler County schools. She said school staff told her the students were “extremely respectful and cooperative.”

Though students organized the gathering independent of staff, school administrators told teachers not to discipline students for missing class.

“Once (school staff) heard about it, they wanted to make sure it was orderly and that students were respectful in this,” she said.

At Bethune-Cookman University, students sent out a campuswide notice on Friday of a “March for Trayvon Martin” on Monday at 4:30 p.m. from the university quad to First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach. An organizer said students from different organizations on campus are forming a justice coalition and decided they wanted to do a march in remembrance of the teen.

In Washington, Obama said that “every parent in America should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this and everybody pulls together, federal, state and local, to figure out exactly how this tragedy happened.”

Martin’s parents, Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton, thanked Obama for his support, saying in a statement the president’s words “touched us deeply and made us wonder: If his son looked like Trayvon and wore a hoodie, would he be suspicious too?”
