Drunk Alcoholics Anonymous Daytona Florida man crashed airport gate and tried to board aircraft after drinking, smoking weed and doing cocaine after Daytona AA Meeting

A “highly intoxicated” Holly Hill Florida man was arrested on March 25, after he left an AA meeting; ingested cocaine, alcohol, and marijuana; and allegedly rammed his car through an airport gate and entered two unoccupied planes, according to police. Body-worn camera captured the arrest of 58-year-old Holly Hill resident Bryan J Parker, who allegedly crashed through a locked perimeter gate at Daytona Beach International Airport, authorities said. The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said Parker was “highly intoxicated” when the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon. Officials said Parker rammed his blue Ford Mustang through the gate of a perimeter fence and almost struck an Embry-Riddle plane that was taxiing. Parker attempted to enter the occupied jet. “As Parker ran to other aircraft in the area, an airport operations technician chased him down, pulled him out of a plane and sat him on his truck’s tailgate,” the Volusia Sheriff’s Office said. “However, Parker jumped off the tailgate and ran toward another plane before he was once again apprehended and placed in handcuffs.” Parker was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail and faces charges including attempted aircraft piracy, burglary, felony trespass, exposure of a sexual organ, criminal mischief, DUI property damage, and refusal to submit to testing.

In a video released by the sheriff’s office, Parker told authorities he had attended an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting before using drugs and alcohol.

“I went to an AA meeting, and next thing I know, I’m doing cocaine, drinking, and smoking pot,” Parker said while being questioned. “I’m lucky I didn’t get on my … motorcycle.”

Parker was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail on multiple charges, including attempted aircraft piracy, burglary of a conveyance, felony trespass, indecent exposure, criminal mischief, DUI with property damage, and refusal to submit to testing.

Airport operations were not impacted by the incident, officials said.

Deputies said Parker first tried to board a running airplane that was occupied, but the doors were locked. He then ran to another plane, where an airport operations technician chased him down, removed him from the aircraft and briefly detained him on a truck’s tailgate.

Authorities said Parker managed to break free and ran toward another plane before security officers intervened and placed him in custody.

Deputies said Parker’s car was heavily damaged when they arrived at the gate.
