DAYTONA NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS MEETINGS IN HOLLY HILL PARKS REFUSE TO PAY RENT

2511

Daytona Narcotics Anonymous Meetings Just For Today in Hollyland Park and The Third Tradition at Centennial Park refuse to pay rent for their weekly meetings.  They are not honoring their 7th tradition that states  “Every NA group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside contributions.”   Both The Third Tradition and Just For Today meetings have been collecting money at  meeting for years in Holly Hill Florida Parks and continue to refuse to pay rent.

The City of Holly Hill asked NA Daytona years ago when Oel Wingo was City Manager to pay rent and they refused. Every time they are asked to pay, the members of these Narcotics Anonymous meetings refuse to pay.

Daytona NA is also fully aware of how much they have upset the community with not only not paying rent, but they also continue to smoke since our parks became NO SMOKING last fall.  They have also been many incidences in our parks with these NA groups and an AA group harassing and threatening locals trying to enjoy the park. You can read many of the horror stories here that citizens of Holly Hill have endured  http://nadaytona.org/rude-awakening/

Ex-Con Alcoholics Anonymous Member Arrested During Drug Raid That Uncovered Drugs And Handgun

AA member Leslie Mitchell who was an ex-con had his home raided and he had eight small marijuana plants, cocaine, steroid pills, liquid steroids, drug paraphernalia, $3,590 in cash, a .22 caliber handgun and a magazine containing seven rounds of ammunition. He had been on probation for having 16 ounces of heroin! He only served 9 months in jail.

AA Member Busted

VINELAND — An ex-con enrolled in the state’s intensive supervision program (ISP) who was arrested March 7 on drug and weapons charges had been visited just four days earlier by an ISP officer, a state judiciary spokeswoman said.

Leslie H. Mitchell, 43, was charged with multiple counts of drug possession and distribution offenses, as well as violation of parole after police made the discovery March 7. He is accused of growing marijuana, possessing a handgun and selling cocaine and two types of steroids.

“The last visit was March 3,” said Tamara Kendig, spokeswoman for the New Jersey State Judiciary, which runs the intensive supervision program.

“This person had reported to the ISP office on March 5, two days before the arrest. An officer was scheduled to visit the home later in the evening on March 7. He had already observed the arrest though and so did not go through with the visit.” Mitchell was allowed into the ISP on Jan. 27, 2011. He had originally been imprisoned on May 11, 2010, after he was convicted of possession of more than five ounces of heroin. Captain Thomas Ulrich of the Vineland Police Department said he had been caught with 16-ounces of the substance.

He could have received a maximum sentence of eight years, but was released after less than nine months in prison.
ISP is a program in which convicts are released early from prison and are allowed to stay out so long as they follow a set of guidelines.

“Generally speaking, the guidelines are the same,” said Kendig. “You’re required to maintain employment, and he was employed. Curfews are imposed, although the curfew can change. Depending on whether someone’s compliant, as you move along they may change your curfew a little bit. You’re required to pay outstanding fines.”

She added that Mitchell did have one violation during his release for possession of alcohol in April 2011.

“He was required to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and had been in attendance,” she said.

He also had paid $4,380 out of $4,630 in fines that he owed.

When police executed a warrant and raided Mitchell’s apartment, he had eight small marijuana plants, cocaine, steroid pills, liquid steroids, drug paraphernalia, $3,590 in cash, a .22 caliber handgun and a magazine containing seven rounds of ammunition.

The ATF is tracing the weapon.

Mitchell was lodged in the Cumberland County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail as well as a no-bail warrant for violating his parole.

DAYTONA NA MEMBER SWINGS BASEBALL BAT AT FELLOW NA MEMBER AT HOLLYLAND PARK

On September 10th 2011 Hollyland Park, Holly Hill Florida, The Daytona Beach Narcotics Anonymous Area Group sponsored a softball tournament that included NA Groups from other Florida counties. There was a fight that broke out between two Daytona NA members, and one of the members responded by swinging an aluminum baseball bat at this person. According to an inside source that was a witness, if the guy would not have ducked when he saw the bat coming at him, it would have killed him. NA members broke up the fight. There were many witnesses, and the victim called the police. Now wouldn’t you know that Holly Hill PD did not get the name of the person who tried to kill this guy? No official report was written on this incident. No charges were filed.

When the Daytona Beach Narcotics Anonymous Group reserved the field they did not take out a special use permit for this very large event with over 100 people. This happened in Hollyland Park / Centennial Park right across the street from the Holly Hill PD. With an event that size  there should have been a special event form filled out, and police present at the event. Failing to hold this event according to Holly Hill’s special use permit guidelines almost cost someone their life! It could still cost someone their life in the future, because this nut is still on the loose and has already shown he is capable of trying to kill someone.

There were no arrests made. I would bet Daytona Beach Narcotics Anonymous members talked the victim out of pressing charges, as an attempt to keep bad press down and not to expose members identity. They already know that much has been written about their horrendous behavior in Holly Hill Parks. Some things are hard to keep a secret when you have a ton of witnesses. It’s a good thing this NA member lived to tell about this fight, not all Narcotics Anonymous members do. Hiding this just enables this sort of behavior, letting dangerous perpetrators hide behind anonymity.

Is the City of Holly Hill going to wait until someones’ head is bashed in before they try to make the parks a safer place?

Here is an article where an AA sponsor was killed when attacked with a baseball bat by his court mandated mentally ill AA sponsee.

Daytona NA Member Indicted in First Degree Murder of 14 Year Old Bryce Parson

Richard Lyle Newkirk 32 of Holly Hill Fl and Daytona Beach NA member-arrested
May 31st 2011 in the death of 14 year-old Bryce Parson. This man has a long history of violence and drug abuse charges and convictions. Now it looks like First Degree Murder charges will be filed once the toxicology reports are back. Initially they could tell that Bryce had THC, opiates and barbiturates in his urine. It is believed to be a methadone overdose. Bryce had also taken a Xanax that evening as well. UPDATE-INDICTED FOR FIRST DEGREE MURDER

Friends say Bryce Parson loved to fish, surf and sail. (Photo | Parson family)
It is believed that Richard Newkirk also gave Bryce Xanax, and told him it would be okay to mix the 2 drugs. He told him this after Bryce asked if it would be okay.
Mixing adult drug addicts with minors is wrong. Daytona NA and AA need to stop promoting teens and minors to their meetings where they can meet the likes of people like Richard Newkirk who are violent felons. It is horrible that NA continues to put adolescents in harms way. Daytona AA / NA continue to have meetings in playgrounds/parks in Holly Hill Fl and Palm Coast Fl . Holly Hill City Commissioners need to put an end to this practice, and prevent more deaths of children like poor Bryce Parson. Bryce was afraid to go to sleep that night because he was afraid he would not wake up. He was right. I wish he would of called 911.

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. — A local man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a teenager in Ormond Beach, authorities said Tuesday.Ormond Beach police said Richard Newkirk, 32, is facing first-degree murder charges in connection with the death of Bryce Parson, 14. Investigators said Newkirk gave Bryce and another teen a mixture made with methadone hydrochloride. Police said Newkirk provided the toxic cocktail to the teen in May, and Parson went to sleep and never woke up. Newkirk had been staying with a family in the neighborhood, and police said he took Parson and a 17-year-old to a nearby laboratory where he instructed the boys to dumpster dive. Police said Newkirk told the boys to get discarded bottles of methadone, and when they were back home, Newkirk allegedly added water to extract meth residue and then gave each boy a cup.”It was definitely a lethal dose. It was over 1,000 milliliters or milligrams of methadone in the boys’ system, which is probably 10 times the lethal dose,” said Lt. Kenny Hayes, of the Ormond Beach Police Department.Read more: http://www.wesh.com/news/29031661/detail.html#ixzz1hD4fJF00

Teenager Meets 36 Year Old Man at Florida NA Meeting Ends in Murder

Here is a Florida story about a teenager getting caught up with the wrong crowd by attending a Florida NA meeting. NA is not a ‘safe place’ for your kids, teenagers or anyone for that matter !

In a tangled web of sex tapes and vengeance, a 38-year-old construction supervisor told police he killed an East Lakeland man while trying to protect his teenage girlfriend’s reputation.

Joey Delbert Midgett went to 36-year-old Jonas Ward’s house at 3:40 a.m. Tuesday to retrieve a videotape of Ward and Denise Bradshaw, Midgett’s girlfriend, having sex, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said Thursday.

Minutes after Ward refused to hand over the tape, he lay dead near the front door of his house with a .45-caliber slug through his head. The events that led to that fatal moment began a month ago, detectives determined.

On Nov. 27, Bradshaw, 19, of Lakeland reported to deputies that Ward had raped her.
When investigators questioned Ward about it, Judd said, he admitted giving her some drugs and having sex. But Ward said Bradshaw had consented, and he had a videotape and photographs to prove it.

Earlier this month, authorities told Bradshaw they had viewed the video and determined there was no rape. She said she knew about the video but still thought she was raped.

Then she told Midgett and after a night of drinking, Midgett told Bradshaw and her roommate, Holly Evans, that he wanted to go see Ward and “get that filth.”The three drove to Ward’s house at 2943 Lunar Circle in Lakeland early Tuesday, and Midgett knocked on the door. “When Ward comes to the door, Joey Midgett said, ‘I’m here to get the videos,'” Judd said. “Ward cusses at him and tries to slam the door, and Midgett’s hand gets caught in the door.”

Midgett, nicknamed The Hangman, told detectives he brought his right hand up to free his trapped left hand, and the pistol in his right hand went off, the sheriff said. Ward died in his living room of a single gunshot wound to his head.

Midgett and Bradshaw returned to their house at 1706 Holly Road in Lakeland, where he punched a hole in a bedroom wall to hide the gun and ammunition. He then took a bath with Bradshaw while Evans watched, and he and Bradshaw had sex, Judd said. Judd described Midgett as a member of the Outlaw motorcycle gang, but the group’s lawyer in Tarpon Springs, Jerry Theophilopoulos, rebutted that claim.

Midgett, who has a tattoo across his back that reads “Support Your Local Outlaws,” spent time with members, but was not himself a member of the motorcycle club, he said. Theophilopoulos says he has access to a list of the group’s membership, and received many calls Thursday from members who were upset that Midgett had been described as a member.

“This is an inaccurate and false statement,” Theophilopoulos said. “The Outlaws basically are a motorcycle club that promotes brotherhood amongst the men.” In his statement to authorities, Midgett said he went to Ward’s house solely to retrieve the video and photographs, but Judd said the evidence doesn’t support that. “If that was the case,” Judd said, “why would he come with a .45-caliber and a trench coat?”

Sheriff’s detectives have charged Midgett with first-degree murder and armed burglary. Bradshaw hasn’t been arrested but remains under investigation, Judd said. Midgett met Bradshaw through her mother, Kimberly, with whom Midgett had a relationship, Judd said.

Ward, a tattoo artist, had met the younger Bradshaw at a Florida Narcotics Anonymous meeting and later did a tattoo for her. The two then became lovers, Judd said.

Bradshaw has a tattoo that reads “The Hangman’s Property” on her back, done by someone other than Ward, detectives said. Midgett and Ward didn’t know each other before the shooting, Judd said.

After authorities rejected her rape allegations, Bradshaw went to Ward’s house Dec. 10 and smashed his camera and computer with a hammer, then punched several holes in the exterior of his mobile home as she was leaving, according to sheriff’s reports. Three days later, authorities arrested her for criminal mischief, and she was released from the Polk County Jail on $500 bail.

Bradshaw initially denied allegations she had damaged his house, Judd said, but then said she had done it and that Ward “was going to get his.” Judd said authorities searched the Holly Road house after Ward was killed and found a pistol and ammunition in the hole in the bedroom wall. “We have every piece of evidence we could possibly want,” he said.

This isn’t Midgett’s first brush with the law. He carries an extensive criminal history in California dating to 1990, and most of the charges involve domestic abuse or harassment, drunken driving and resisting arrest. He was charged with aggravated assault in Polk County in July, but the case wasn’t prosecuted, according to court records.

He has a pretrial conference scheduled Jan. 26 in Polk County Court for two counts of domestic violence filed in September, court records show.

Concern Arises Over Criminal Histories Of Park Employees

Here we have someone that is concerned for the children in playgrounds
being exposed to park employees that have criminal backgrounds.
I wonder how they would feel about court mandated felons attending AA/NA in their park with children on a daily basis?

According to a Holly Hill police report, the 28-year-old woman was walking by Lee’s mobile home on 460 Ridgewood Ave. on Wednesday night when Lee approached her, took her phone, and forced her inside his residence.

Lee, who had known and smoked crack with the woman for six months, began punching her in the head, telling her “you’re not going to leave the house again” before getting a knife and holding it to her throat, the report states.
