This recent arrest of Boulder Colorado AA Sponsor for sexual assault against his sponsee, is yet another example of the increasing sexual assaults being committed by Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous members. You cannot trust the sponsors. They are given way to much power and trust, considering many of them have criminal backgrounds and are still dealing with many unresolved drug and emotional problems.
This woman who was going to confess her sins to this low life, instead she says he sexually assaulted her! Confessing your sins in AA is a ridiculous practice. You do that if you are Catholic and go to confession, not to some stranger that has no training in dealing in the mental health field, or even training on a ministry level.

BOULDER, Colo. — A sponsor for an Alcoholics Anonymous group in Boulder is accused of sexually assaulting a member he had offered to help.
Longmont police arrested Laureano Sifuentes, 64, Wednesday night on suspicion of unlawful sexual contact. Sifuentes posted bond Thursday morning.
Boulder detectives have been investigating Sifuentes since November 2011 when a woman reported that Sifuentes had touched her inappropriately during a meeting that he had scheduled at a Boulder hotel.
The woman said he persuaded two women in the AA group that he would help them through one of the AA steps. That step is about disclosing information about past wrongs to one other person, and it’s usually done one-on-one in a private setting, Boulder police spokeswoman Kim Kobel said.
Sifuentes arranged a meeting at a hotel in Boulder and the victim, along with another female in the AA group, agreed to attend, Kobel said.
The victim said that during their meeting, Sifuentes touched her sexually. She fled the hotel and called to have someone pick her up at another location.
Sifuentes has previous arrests in 1998 and 2000 for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Detective Colleen Wilcox at 303-441-4483. Those who have information but wish to remain anonymous may contact the Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or 1-800-444-3776.
Tips can also be submitted through the Crime Stoppers website. Those submitting tips through Crime Stoppers that lead to the arrest and filing of charges on a suspect(s) may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000 from Crime Stoppers.

It is so great to see the press starting to loosen up and are starting to report the crimes of 12 step programs. If any press is reading this, PLEASE report these stories, and stop protecting the criminals in Alcoholics Anonymous. You will be helping to save lives to report the truth.
In the Youtube video, the news anchor says police fear there are more AA victims of ” AA Leader” Laureano Sifuentes because of the time served in AA as a ” Leader”.
I hope the victims will come forward to help put this man behind bars.
Also I want to note that the man did not deny sexually assaulting this poor woman and actually stated that he did it “to see her reaction” ! What a 13 stepping, sexually assaulting AA creep!
whosincharge- Agreed! Great post.
You can file a complaint to The Attorney General of NY about AA as a whole. A few of us already did this. You can sign my petitions to make aa safer. ALthough I have left to do the work outside of AA being that AA headquarters and local areas think they can turn a blind eye …forever….WRONG!
The gig is up. ABC NEWS is finally reporting. There will be no stopping it now.
One more thing…EVERY top News and TV Executive IS NOT IN AA. SO maybe the truth will get out about AA.
This story reminds me of the “Midtown AA abuse articles in Newsweek and the Washington Post! There really is quite the anonymous, abusive culture of non-accountability running rampant here. Maybe the administrator of this site will post a link to these articles with my comment so readers can learn more about this and start to see the reality of the pattern of non-accountability within these organizations!
It is truly beyond belief that the headquarters of these organizations won’t implement policies to make their meetings safe for these vulnerable attendees! They have let anonymous be retranslated into something that I’m sure Bill W. would roll in his grave over! Anonymous now far too often means, NOT ACCOUNTABLE and pretty much anything goes and nobody’s going to know. Each group has their own “GROUP CONSCIENCE” and headquarters just keeps turning the other way when people call them for help concerning abusive practices.
The courts and law enforcement also, far too often, turn the other way to protect the image of these groups. This is obviously in their interest because AA\NA are the recipients of ever greater numbers of repeat offenders who are put back in the streets through drug courts to save the cost of incarceration. Things are out-of-control but the powers that be would like to keep a lid on that to prevent the public from realizing the public safety hazard that has developed!
What’s really going on when it comes to successful recovery, since that’s what this is all supposed to be about? The success rates of these groups are pathetic so these people who are so desperately in need of getting real help to turn their lives around and move on are finding more dysfunction instead! Alarming numbers of people just go around and around through this broken system, many just playing the game to stay out of jail again. Emboldened, large high-risk groups of people who chose to get out of jail “the good old AA\NA way” are discovering that they are, in a very real way, above the law as long as they are involved with these cultish groups. This is not the kind of message these people need to be getting!
This is a story that I heard face to face at PRAASA ( The Pacific Region AA Service Assembly) in Los Angeles, Ca March 2009. There was a round Table Workshop held called Sexual and Financial Predators in AA. Over 130 people squeezed into the room. Everyone shared for 3 minutes each. 99 % of the sharing talked about sexual or violent behavior that was ruining AA.
Before this event I was asked to speak to the Spanish community that was there and I agreed and they had a translator there. After I talked, they told me what was going on in the spanish speaking community. Men were doing this left and right and telling the woman they had to have sex with them as part of their 5th Step. ( this is a step where you tell all your wrong doings to someone) I highly advise against this now. Just stay away from crazy 1936 AA where the book has never been updated. They are living in the dark ages.
Try Smart Recovery, SOS or Women in Sobriety.
I Created a blog when NY’s General Headquarters would do nothing about this huge rampant problem in AA. http://www.stop13stepinaa.wordpress.com We created literature called Make AA Safer which is really great and we held Workshops which brought light to rape going on in AA culture.
I want to remind everyone something I recently learned at a Screen Actors Guild meeting. If a Board member of a non profit has knowledge of wrong doing going on they have a responsibility to go to the members, the police and protect the members.
The Board members are actually personally liable is they do nothing.
If you have been harmed, A previous board member already warned them, I warned them and they have done nothing.
GO after them. Make them accountable. They take in $12 million dollars a year and they are covered by insurance.
