Father Sentenced to Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings and Weekends in Jail for Felony Child Abuse of Baby Daughter

Father sentenced to a year of weekends in jail for child abuse

By Katy Barnitz / Journal Staff Writer Saturday, May 28th, 2016
A Rio Rancho father convicted of child abuse must spend the next 52 weekends in county jail, a Sandoval County judge ruled Monday.
Matthew Najar, 32, pleaded guilty in February to one count of reckless child abuse, a third-degree felony, according to court documents.

Najar was originally indicted in November 2012 on four counts of child abuse. Rio Rancho police reported being called to a local hospital in December 2011 after health care workers reported that an 11-week-old girl had a skull fracture, according to a Rio Rancho Observer report from 2012. Employees also reportedly said they found healing fractures of the girl’s ribs, left leg and collarbone.

During a sentencing hearing Monday afternoon, Najar told state District Court Judge George Eichwald that he’d made mistakes in his life, but said substance abuse was the root of the problem. He said he’d been clean for three years and asked the judge to allow him to maintain his relationship with his children.

“I want to be a father to these girls,” Najar said. “Give me a chance to be the father that these girls need.”

Najar’s defense attorney Leonard Foster said that, in the many years since the charges first arose, Najar started attending Narcotics and Alcoholics Anonymous classes, and he’s gone through group therapy sessions with the state Children, Youth and Families Department. He even started his own business with his brother, which allows him to make child support payments and support his children, Foster said. He asked the judge to place Najar on probation. Daytona AA and NA meetings have violent felons, please beware!

Prosecutor Aaron Aragon asked for 18 months of incarceration, combined with substance abuse and anger management courses. Holly Hill Sunrise Park NA Meetings complaints.

Eichwald sentenced Najar to 104 days in custody, “one year of weekends,” he said. He also told Najar to enroll in and complete anger management courses, and to continue attending NA and AA meetings.

“I’m keeping you from losing your job,” Eichwald said.

In a brief interview after the hearing, Najar said he was disappointed with the sentence and nervous about returning to jail every week.

“I was loaded and I dropped my daughter,” he said, adding that he took the infant to the emergency room immediately.

Najar said he’s scared to go back to jail.

“Jail’s ugly,” he said, calling it a “drug- and violence-infested area.”

He said he hopes spending the weekends in custody will remind him why he changed his life.

“I’m scared,” he told the judge. “I don’t want to lose all this.”

AA Fails To Protect Minors From Predators They Invite To Meetings

Now this is rich, some AA members are actually showing concern for minors at meetings and wanting to do something about it. Yet they are shot down, because of liability concerns. If they admit there is a problem with minors not being safe at AA meetings, then you are looking at liability concerns. For anyone reading this in AA, let it be known that MANY people are aware of this problem including AA headquarters In New York City. We know you know! There is no way to pretend that you do not know. It is an outrageous statement to come back with. They put it all on the groups themselves. To protect minors in AA should be a priority that includes AA headquarters.  Of course anything each group decides to do to protect minors in meetings would be helpful. They can stop inviting minors, not allow mandated minors and stop having youth outreach campaigns to have minors come to adult AA meetings!  You need to look at what Alateen does to protect minors.

Here are some of the highlights presented by our Southeast Regional Trustee

The General Service Board received a request to develop a policy on making the rooms safe for young people who are coming to AA. They wanted to be sure minors are being protected. We received all kinds of background material as to why our rooms aren’t safe from predators. The idea was sent to the General Service Board, and the board sent it to a committee. The committee deliberated and said we want the rooms safe for everybody. The question is, is that just in the AA meeting room or is that outside the meeting room’ The Board had a discussion as to what do we do’ The decision was that it was the responsibility of each group. All that we could do as a Board is to say that it is the responsibility of each group. Part of that is because we have no authority to tell groups how they need to function or what they need to do. That’s the groups’ autonomy. The other part is that we may not know what the issues may be in your group or your community. We need to work hard to make sure the rooms are safe.

Question ‘ Would it be reasonable to have a service piece on the safety in the rooms of AA that might open the eyes of the fellowship’
Answer ‘ I am not an attorney but we have had counsel indicate that if you say there may be a problem and you don’t do something about it, and there is a problem, then you may be liable because you have said there may be a problem. The best way of saying it is, if we print anything that says there may be a problem then if there is a problem then we got a problem. We not only struggle with the spiritual responsibilities but the legal responsibilities in providing information. So the board decided to send people out, like me, and you to do something about it. If your Area feels like we need a written piece, then that is where the voice needs to come.

Volusia County Fl Lead War on Internet Sexual Predators

Law enforcement agencies partnering with the Florida Sheriff’s Association have started carrying out online stings to catch sex offenders, said Sheriff Ben Johnson, president of the association.

“The Internet makes the world so small that people are targeting children everywhere,” Johnson said. “We are going to go wherever we can to get them off the streets.”

On Sept. 12, the Florida Sheriff’s Association announced it was “declaring war on the online predator epidemic by sharing its Cyber Sexual Predator Initiative with any Florida law enforcement organizations that would like to implement this program in their communities.”

Six days earlier, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office announced it arrested 15 men in an undercover Internet sting in Volusia.

“The sad thing is how quickly these offenders jumped on it,” Johnson said. “It makes you wonder how many times they have gone out and made a victim.”

What was alarming about the sting was how willing the sex offenders were to accept offers of children for sex from detectives posing as parents.’

Now if these sexual predators of children are convicted, and they have any sort of drug or alcohol problem-where do you think the courts send them to? Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, with no warning to the groups or the minors. Both AA/NA promote people and minors to come to these meetings when they are fully aware the dangerous demographic make-up of many AA/NA meetings. The Sheriffs Office should investigate how many sexual predators are attending meetings with children and teens present in Daytona Beach Florida and the rest of the state.Actually this is a national issue. The judicial system needs to stop mandating AA/NA attendance to sexual offenders and violent felons, especially with the judicial system and probation officers having full knowledge of this practice that puts minors in great danger. Many minors have been harmed and will continue to until this practice of mixing sexual offenders and minors together stops.

NA MEMBER CONVICTED IN CHESIRE CONNECTITCUT MURDERS

2011_10_jkosh.jpg

A Connecticut jury found Joshua Komisarjevsky guilty of 17 counts, including the murders of Jennifer Hawke-Petit and her daughters Hayley and Michaela Petit, nearly wrapping up the legal end of the horrific 2007 home invasion robbery-gone-wrong in Cheshire, Connecticut. Komisarjevsky now faces the death penalty in sentencing.

Steven Hayes who had already been convicted and was Komisarjevsky accomplice had met at Narcotics Anonymous meetings and Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and also stayed at a halfway house together.                                              http://gothamist.com/2011/10/13/jury_finds_2nd_man_guilty_of_connec.php

NA MEMBER THREATENS TO KILL CHILDREN WITH AK-47

Troy Kegel 47, threatened to use a AK 47 to shoot up his NA Meeting and children in a playground. He threatened to kill his sponsor etc etc. What is that expression AA/NA love to use? Oh yea-keep coming back! Cant wait!

AA MEMBER RAPES CHILD OF FELLOW AA MEMBER IN NORTH CAROLINA

John Thomas Nackab

John Thomas Nackab an AA member, met a woman at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting in North Carolina. He was a registered sex offender. Because he does not have to disclose this information to anyone in AA, the woman had no warning of what horrific sexual abuse was going to happen. The two started dating a few weeks later. The man ended up raping the womans daughter and sexually abusing her other children. He was convicted of first degree rape.

He was not happy with the light sentence he got for raping and sodomizing a little girl and tried to appeal his sentence!

Keep in mind that AA/NA headquarters are fully aware of these crimes and still tell teens to come to meetings. They water down any concerns to parents as well.

John Thomas Nackab (“defendant”) appeals from judgments entered upon jury verdicts finding him guilty of first degree rape of a child, first degree sex offense with a child, and three counts of taking indecent liberties with a child. We find no error.

I. Background
In July 2006, defendant met a woman named Martha at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. Defendant and Martha began dating a few weeks later. At that time, Martha lived with her five minor children: two boys and three girls, Catherine, Barbara, and Amanda (collectively “the victims”). While defendant and Martha were dating, defendant would frequently spend the night at Martha’s home. Catherine would sometimes sleep in the same bed with Martha and defendant. On several occasions while they were in bed together, defendant touched Catherine in her genital area over her clothing. On 19 November 2006, defendant and Amanda were alone together at defendant’s mother’s home. Defendant called Amanda into his room and told her to take her clothes off and lie on his bed.

The rest is just too graphic, but the Court report is here-

Holly Hill Florida Looks at AA NA Meeting Procedures in the Parks

Holly Hill Looks at Park Meeting Procedures

AUDREY PARENTE – STAFF WRITER
January 10, 2011

HOLLY HILL – Children romping on playground equipment at Sunrise Park giggled and shouted in the dark recently, under the watchful eyes of their aunt, Beth Thomason.

On the same night a woman’s low voice nearby murmured about her drug problem. She sat at a picnic table with a camp lantern glowing on nearly 20 adult faces, many under hoodies and knit caps in the cold. Thomason said she knew it was a self-help group, because she once attended similar meetings in support of a relative. No incidents occurred Friday at Sunrise. But recent conflicts over park use by large groups caused citizens to request commissioners look at stronger regulations for the city’s parks.
Park rules and policies will be discussed at a public workshop 5 p.m. Tuesday in City Commission Chambers.
According to a flier on a City Hall table, anonymous self-help groups meet daily at Sunrise and other Parks in Holly Hill. AA Daytona Beach Meetings in Daytona.
In Holly Hill, park reservations by large groups aren’t required, but an option to assure a spot is available for $25, said Acting City Manager Mark Barker.
An individual at Friday night’s meeting, who didn’t want a name used because the group prefers anonymity, said the number of people at a meeting varies and many who attend are required to be there by drug court.

Commissioner Rick Glass said he’s anticipating help from the city attorney at the workshop. “I have had many, many people call, and I just got off the phone with a citizen who was talking about it,” Glass said. “They want (sign-up) procedures put in place for parties – basic policies like other cities have, where parties of 20 or 25 people have to pull a permit.” Park regulations for municipalities at municode.com show other cities, including Ormond Beach and Edgewater, regulate many issues from conduct and park hours to penalties. Barker said “right now, to control certain behaviors,” other regulations are used – not park specific – such as laws covering alcoholic beverages, firearms and public safety issues.

Commissioner Liz Towsley Patton said the issue has been discussed before – not at length. “We will look at all sides and decide,” she said. “I am open to that, but, do I think we need to shut parks off to groups or go through a certain process? No.” Commissioner Donnie Moore said: “As it stands right now . . . I do see some issues, and we can work on that.” Moore said requiring reservations by large groups might be considered, but he also hopes to designate playgrounds as non-smoking areas. Commissioner Roy Johnson said he aims to find “what is best for everybody,” but not “restrict people from using the park.” A local business operator across from the park believes the city should regulate park use. “I am in a little store where people stop to get their whatnots, and they say what’s on their mind. I have heard grumblings,” said Mr. Sanderford. He spends seven weekdays operating Holly Hill River Mart, and said local residents complain about meeting groups monopolizing the park and the parking. The complaints resulted in a petition asking city lawmakers to look at the issue, he said.

Former mayoral candidate Steve Smith presented the petition. Barker said an unsigned copy of the petition is on record. Smith said his trouble at the park began while running for mayor. He reserved the pavilion once a week for 10 weeks, having cookouts and campaigning, but encountered harassment and disagreeable persons in a group meeting at the park pavilion with no reservation, he said. “The city should limit (the number of) times,” of use by large groups, Smith said, and all groups “should be submitting some remittance to the city for the maintenance of the park.”

Smith also had a solution.

“The thing that is missing is, we don’t have a leisure services or parks director, so there is nothing scheduled.” Organized activities would help, he said.

AA turns a Blind Eye to Sexual Predators In Meetings

AA states clearly that they have problems with sexual predators within AA groups.Yet they have stated as an organization they have no responsibility to do doing anything to prevent or warn minors or other members about this danger.

This is disturbing that AA refuses to take any responsibility or accountability for the safety of members. If you feel this is wrong call AA headquarters in New York City. There phone number is 212-870-3400.

On top of this, AA encourages teens to come to meetings not warning them, knowing sexual predators are a growing problem, as the judicial system is adding this danger to members.

AA does not belong in parks and playgrounds where children are at risk.

NA Member In Washington State Rapes Two 15 Year-Old Boys

Robert Darrell Strickland gained the trust of the 15 year old boys who were dealing with drug and alcohol issues. He lured them to his house in Centralia, Washington where he raped them. This is a shocking account of another crime committed by an NA member against minors. NA headquarters in California are well aware of these crimes against children taking place. They have decided to do nothing about it as an organization. They feel it is a police matter, and they have no responsibility to put guidelines in place or warnings to protect minors. They are shameful organization that turn their back on the children.

EMOTIONS RUN HIGH AT HOLLY HILL Fl MEETING DISCUSSING NA AA PARK MEETINGS

HOLLY HILL Florida — Holly Hill Police escorted two individuals pointing fingers and raising voices at each other out of a workshop on the issue of regulating public parks on Tuesday. The incident prompted Commissioner John Penny to remind the citizens attending the workshop the commission was “setting park policy irregardless of any individual group,” and that behavior and discussion should remain professional. In a rare move, the commission allowed the public to speak during the workshop, which is not the usual procedure. AA Daytona and NA Daytona Meetings in Daytona and Holly Hill Area.
Among 37 citizens who attended, some spoke their minds about wanting further and stronger regulations to include requiring any larger groups to reserve space and pay a fee for using the park, among other things. Steve Smith suggested having an educated and trained park director would help resolve some of the problems. Mr. Sanderford presented a petition with 88 signatures of citizens wanting stronger regulations. He operates a shop across from Sunrise Park.

A few individuals hinted at the value of self-help groups using the park often, and one person even said the groups using Sunrise Park on weekends had relocated. Not until the commission closed public discussion did the crux of the issue surface clearly. “This has turned into a battle of two worlds, and I don’t think we should be in the middle,” said Commissioner Liz Towsley Patton. “There’s no secret we are here because of the NA (Narcotics Anonymous) and AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) meetings at the park. I don’t think we are here to micromanage public parks.”

But Commissioner Donnie Moore had a different take, and said he had spent two hours speaking with park officials in Daytona Beach. He recommended the city attorney, who was not present, get with the Daytona Beach city attorney and park staff to come up with rules applicable to all who use the park.

The policy being discussed encompassed 13 rules laid out by acting Police Chief Steve Aldridge. The rules included such items as smoking in designated areas, pet rules, no alcoholic beverages except by permit at organized events, no littering, no discharge of firearms, designated parking and no children on the playground before sunrise or after sunset. Penny said he was comfortable with Aldridge’s list and recommended the list be forwarded for action at a future commission meeting.

Commissioners agreed to look at giving designated smoking areas a 90-day trial, and to ask the city attorney to speak with park officials in Daytona Beach to better understand the issues.

Comment- Citizens are demanding stronger regulations for the local parks
because of the increasing problems that have arisen because of the presence
of Large Party Groups and Daytona Beach Area Narcotics Anonymous and Daytona Beach Alcoholics Anonymous- Volusia County Intergroup.  Interesting that the City attorney was not present.Still no action has been taken by the City of Holly Hill regardless of the pleas from numerous local citizens.
Citizens have had their life threatened by Daytona Beach Narcotics Anonymous members and been confronted by Daytona Beach Alcoholics Anonymous Volusia County Intergroup. Others have been cussed out. Police have been called numerous times- yet Holly Hill only protects the felons that attend the meetings that have been mandated by Drug Court and the Department of Corrections.
Update- Even though Holly Hill has passed NO Smoking in the parks- AA and NA groups continue to smoke in our parks with no repercussions.

AA ‘Dealing with ‘Predators’ In Their Meetings

In 2001 Austrailia discussed the problems with Predators in AA.They start right off the bat stating it is not at all common. Not true-very common!

“Barring someone(predator)from a meeting is an extreme step’ REALLY?

They want to handle this on a group level only, as there is no discussion as to do anything other than to have alcoholics handle it locally who have no training in dealing with sexual predators, mental illness or pedophiles.

Walter Meyerle, 200 Criminal Counts In Huge Child Serial Rapist Charges

                        test4Walter Meyerle

Bristol Township PA,Bucks County. This is a horrific story that is difficult to read, of a man with a long criminal history involving drugs and DWI’s convictions. This monster took advantage of friends, girlfriends and neighbors children. He would give some drugs. With his long criminal history and drug convictions it is most likely that he had been mandated by the judicial system to go to Narcotics Anonymous. It is pretty much a rubber stamp demand when people are arrested for DWI or drugs.

Also known sexual predators that are released from prison are often sentenced to AA or NA. The judges and probation officers know children and minors attend these AA/NA meetings. Yet they continue to send the likes of Walter Meyerle to mandated meetings.

Let your public officials know how you feel about this outragious practice.

Please dont send your teen to AA/NA!

Alcoholics Anonymous Men Raped 7 year Old Girl For Years !

A heart wrenching story of a little girl who was raped by different men that were AA members that her mother brought home. She kept a diary. AA would say this is an outside issue. They do not want bad press.Well because of the world wide web, stories like this are going global. These are criminal actions on behalf of the AA headquarters-by not taking responsibility. Hopefully this little girl will get justice and the therapy she will need to heal.

Her mother Stacey Parnitzke 40, and her boyfriend Shane Casey 38, were arrested in reference to the sexual abuse.

Sexual Assaults Against Minors In Alcoholics Anonymous Continue

From what I can tell, Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous has not done what is needed to prevent the continuation of the sexual abuse that take place against minors or adults with the groups. What guidance are they getting from AA/NA headquarters? Until these 12 step organizations take responsibly and deal with this horrific situation,do not send your teens or bring your children to meetings. They are not safe! All members are at risk-but the most vulnerable are the children and teenagers. AA of Daytona Beach Fl, should stop having your meetings in playgrounds! In Hollyland and Sunrise Park Holly Hill Fl both groups thumb their nose at the safety of children and the community so they can smoke and not pay rent. It is a disgrace.
Here is an AA member that has tried to bring awareness to this tragedy. It does not appear anyone is listening about the crimes committed against children in both AA and NA worldwide. This is a global problem with these organization. They refuse to take responsibility for what is happening in the rooms or parks.

Struggles Within Alcoholics Anonymous

Sex abuse, financial abuse, and manipulation. It is all here where it is confirmed once again that AA headquarters exerts zero control over the criminal activity of its members.

Florida AA Member Arrested For Attempted Child Kidnapping

Gainsville Florida-Aniball Baris arrested at Florida AA meeting for attempted child kidnapping of a 3 year old child ! Baris was located in a Florida Church attending an AA meeting when arrested.Churches need to consider the safety of their congregation when renting space to 12 step programs.

How can the judicial system continue to mandate sexual predators to AA when they know minors attend meetings and other vulnerable members of society.

Why does both NA Daytona, AA Daytona and their parent Organization think it is okay to encourage minors of any age to attend their meetings? It unethical and shows total disregard for the safety of their members.

Parents Speak Out About Perverts In Park

Harlingen Texas. In Arroyo Park these parents are upset because they feel kids should feel safe in a park and not be exposed to sexual perverts. We feel the same way in Holly Hill Fl where sexual perverts roam the parks along with violent felons mandated by the courts.
Keeping children safe should be our top priority!

NA Daytona Member Richard Newkirk had been on Drug Offender Probation

Richard Newkirk 32, had a previous arrest for cocaine possession. He was on the drug offender program when he violated his probation agreement. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail and then no more probation. Then he met poor Bryce Parsons 14 who died of a methadone overdose after sharing Newkirks methadone concoction.

How does Daytona Beach/Holly Hill Narcotics Anonymous encourage children and teens to attend adult meetings when they know children have died and have been sexually abused at the hands of NA members that are violent felons and/or mentally ill. Their actions are criminal to continue this practice. They could be sued by the victims.NA/AA have been sued many times, but they they keep it quiet.

Washington D.C.AA Midtown Group Abuses Teens

Midtown Group In Washingtond D.C. is a classic example how AA has no accountability.Even though AA headquarters located in New York City was well aware of the financial and sexual abuses going on at the Midtown Group they continue to ignore and take no responsibility for the actions of it’s members that it takes money from to fatten it’s bank account to pay the executives in New York Big Bucks!

NA Daytona Beach/Holly Hill Fl ‘By Young Addicts For Young Addicts’

Here we go with NA promoting the attendance of teens with there own brochure just for youth. Read it and weep. Unbelievable. This should be against the law to treat minors without a substance abuse treatment license.

Here is a pathetic excerpt encouraging minors to talk to Narcotics Anonymous about their experiences with sex and orientation! NA has no business encouraging minors to speak to untrained and non professional members including sexual offenders and violent felons about their sex life. Sounds perverted.Cant believe NA has this in a printed booklet for minors.

Sex, Drugs, and . . .
As young members, coming to terms with our sexuality
in recovery can be difficult. Our experiences with sex
can include anything from our sexual orientation to
break-ups, pregnancy, unmanageability, confusion,
and shame or guilt about things we’ve done or things
that happened to us. We’ll hear lots of opinions and
suggestions about sex and relationships in recovery.
We may not always listen to what others have to say,
but we can make an effort to talk openly with our
sponsor and other members we trust. Sometimes
our feelings about sex and relationships make drugs
start to seem like a solution again. Instead, we share
what we’re going through and ask for guidance
and support. Recovery will help us get through
our feelings clean. When we share honestly about
ourselves, we’re an example for others.

This is a real piece of work. I guess it was just an oversight that they did not include what was told in the booklet for youths Where they encourage young people to talk about their sexual encounters and experiences. This is a shocking writing trying to water down the dangers in Florida NA and trying to put parents guard down to not worry about their children or teens attending meetings. This is a disgrace.
