Whitney Houston Dead at 48
R.I.P. WHITNEY
Whitney Houston died this afternoon at age 48, a rep for the singer told the Associated Press.
Publicist Kristen Foster said Saturday that the singer had passed, and it was later learned that she died in her fourth floor hotel room at the Beverly Hilton where Clive Davis‘ annual Grammy party is scheduled tonight. The cause of death has not been revealed.
At her peak in the 1980s and ’90s, Houston the golden girl of the music industry and one of the world’s best-selling artists. Among her hits were “How Will I Know,” “Saving All My Love for You” and “I Will Always Love You.” She won multiple Grammys including album and record of the year.
By the end of her career, she became a tabloid headline, ravaged by drug use, erratic behavior and a tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown. The singer also confessed to abusing cocaine, marijuana and pills.
ABC News says she her last public sighting was this past Thursday, “when she appeared disheveled and disoriented in front of a Hollywood nightclub.” Celebuzz has those, among other pics of Whitney in her final days below:
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Whitney was involved in some type of argument with with X Factor finalist Stacy Francis that same night at an event. She was reportedly acting “belligerent.”
CNN is reporting that Ray J was with the singer and was the one who found her dead. This is according to a friend of his that spoke to CNN.
TMZ reports that she was found dead in the bathtub of her room. Police arrived within minutes of the call, but when paramedics performed CPR it was unsuccessful. She was pronounced dead at 3:55p.m.
Whitney was working on a new project, a remake of the movie Sparkle with Jordin Sparks and Cee Lo Green. JustJared reports that she was expected to arrive in studio for a photo shoot this afternoon. She was also scheduled to attend Clive Davis’ Annual Grammy Party this evening.
She was the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston, the cousin of Dionne Warwick and the goddaughter of Aretha Franklin.
Quincy Jones tells Celebuzz of her loss: “I am absolutely heartbroken at the news of Whitney’s passing. Ashford & Simpson first made me aware of Whitney when she was just sixteen, and I always regretted not having had the opportunity to work with her. She was a true original and a talent beyond compare. I will miss her terribly.”

Bobbie Kristina Brown Rushed To Hospital-
Whitney Houston’s 18-year-old daughter was rushed to a hospital from the same hotel where her mother died, according to reports in Los Angeles.
TMZ and People Magazine reported that Bobbi Kristina Brown was taken to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles on a stretcher after having a breakdown.
Houston’s only child from husband Bobby Brown was widely described as distraught after her mom was found dead Saturday.
TMZ reported she got into an angry shouting match Saturday night with the cops guarding the hotel room where her mother died.
