Idaho AA Member Jon Anderson Commits Murder-Suicide

Former Mayor Jon Anderson, who was an AA member shot his x-wife and then killed himself in a murder-suicide.

Maybe Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous should reconsider their laid back attitude on allowing their members to discourage professional therapy and meds.

Autopsy results confirm murder-suicide theory
Police say former mayor was shooter

Mayor Jon Anderson

Preliminary autopsy results confirm earlier suspicions that former Bellevue Mayor Jon Anderson and his ex-wife, Linda Vaughan, were the victims last week of a murder-suicide perpetrated by Anderson.
“The autopsy made it clear that he was the person that committed the act and she was the victim,” Blaine County Coroner Russell Mikel said Monday. “The indication is that it was a murder-suicide.”
Mikel said both Anderson, 55, and Vaughan, 58, died from gunshot wounds to the head.

Anderson was on probation at the time of his death for a felony DUI conviction. He pleaded guilty to the crime in July and was sentenced by 5th District Court Judge Robert J. Elgee in August.
Elgee gave Anderson the minimum punishment of 30 days in jail, but suspended execution of the sentence pending the outcome of an appeal filed by Anderson’s attorney, Douglas Nelson.
Anderson was also given a suspended five-year prison sentence, placed on probation for three years, fined $1,500, had his driver’s license suspended for one year and was ordered to continue attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings for at least eight months.

Drunk Alcoholics Anonymous Member Causes Serious Injury To 19 Year-Old In Crash

The night Brian LaRose decided not to go to his Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting and get drunk instead, was a terrible decision. He seriously injured a young woman.

This article points out to those that think all AA members are sober individuals, and are no longer a threat to society is a myth, plain and simple. The reason teens or children should not be sent to co-mingle with adult alcoholics or drug abusers. Many are still using, thus still making these meetings not an appropriate venue for minors.

Also, AA was NOT working for this man. Maybe had he known of other alternatives to stop drinking, he might not of been driving highly intoxicated that night.

SAN DIEGO — A driver whose blood-alcohol level was 4 1/2 times the legal limit when his vehicle slammed into the back of a car in Rancho Bernardo, seriously injuring a young woman, will not go to prison.

Instead, Brian LaRose was ordered to spend a year in a work furlough program where he will work during the day and return to jail at night.

LaRose, 39, pleaded guilty in November to DUI causing injury and admitted an allegation that he drove with a blood-alcohol level above 0.15 percent.

Deputy District Attorney Chandelle Konstanzer argued that LaRose should go to prison for five years, calling the defendant an “extreme danger” to society. LaRose was supposed to be at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting the night he caused the accident that left 19-year-old Heidi Wise with a brain injury and other serious injuries.

Toddler Rapist / AA Member Is Now Released From Jail

Even though this child sex predator, Dexter Charles Williams was still considered to be a danger to children, he was granted his request to be released from prison. He got brownie points for attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and looks like that will continue now that he is released.

Release hope for toddler rapist

A child protection advocate has attacked suggestions that a dangerous sex offender jailed indefinitely could be released, despite a psychiatrist saying he has a high risk of reoffending.Hetty Johnston, founder of the Brisbane-based child protection group Braveheart, said “a child will pay the price” if convicted rapist Dexter Charles Williams, 43, is released.

“This man is a repeat offender of the worst possible nature. There is no research anywhere in the world that says these people will be safe. No-one can say that,” Ms Johnston told 6PR radio this morning.

“The question is not if but when (he will reoffend). If he is a high risk of reoffending he should not be released. The only place he is safe is in jail.” Williams was locked up indefinitely after raping a two-year-old girl.

He is one of about a dozen WA criminals considered so dangerous they have no set release date, but Supreme Court Justice Eric Heenan said yesterday he might return him to the community if a suitable place for him to live could be found. “Release into the community under a strict supervision order may be tolerable but a number of factors need further investigation,” Justice Heenan said.

James McTaggart, from the Director of Public Prosecutions, said psychiatrist Mark Hall assessed that Williams had a high risk of reoffending but could be released under strict conditions. His report showed Williams made positive progress in the past year, including regularly attending Alcoholics Anonymous, though there were still serious “underlying issues of sexual deviancy”.

Williams was jailed for 11 years in 2000 after admitting the abduction, rape and bashing of the two-year-old girl in Esperance in 1998 and sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl in Katanning in 1997.He was released in 2007 but was free only six weeks before breaching parole conditions when he failed to report to police and was found unsupervised with three children.

Catholic Priest Mandated To Alcoholics Anonymous For DWI

Australia’s Catholic Priest was busted for a DWI with a blood alcohol level 7 times the legal limit of 0.341!

How could he drive at all! This priest received no jail time as long as he goes to Australia Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.

Priest avoids jail time

Catholic Priest DWI

Father Peter Jones.

SOUTH Grafton Catholic priest Peter Jones has avoided jail time despite driving with seven times the legal limit of alcohol in his blood stream on one of Australia’s biggest highways on October 19 last year.

The St Patrick’s Parish priest pleaded guilty to having 0.341 blood alcohol content at an earlier court appearance and has since undergone extensive rehabilitation including attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.

Magistrate David Heilpern gave Jones, 58, a 12-month suspended jail sentence upon condition of a section 12 good behavior bond and suspended his licence for two years and eight months.

Fr Jones was convicted of high range PCA in May, 2001 at Macksville.

At his previous court appearance on December 12, Fr Jones was warned he could face a jail term by presiding Magistrate Shane McAnulty.

“This is a serious matter because the reading is so high,” Mr McAnulty said.

“Ordinarily, people with a reading that high should expect to go to jail.”

“It was such a high reading that it is inconceivable that a person could drive (in that state).”
Mr McAnulty said the fact that it was Fr Jones’ second high-range PCA offence was causing him “some concern” and suggested the holy man may need to do some “soul searching” on his behaviour.

Police facts tendered to the court said Fr Jones was driving north on the Pacific Hwy at Cowper about 1.15pm on Wednesday, October 19 when a driver rang police concerned that the white Toyota Camry Fr Jones was driving was being driven unsafely.

A police patrol car waited for Fr Jones at Ferry Park, Maclean and followed him for a short time. After some road works, police activated lights and sirens.

“While following the driver police also observed the driver’s actions to be swerving left to right all over the road,” said Senior Constable Stephen Bennett in his report.”The driver appeared to not see police and continued along the highway.” Fr Jones eventually pulled over on Yamba Rd under the Harwood Bridge and stumbled next to his car, the evidence said.

Bogus Labeling Of Adolescents As Addicts And Having A Brain Disease

All this talk about Whitney Houston’s death has brought out a plethora of talking 12 step heads hyperventilating about how addiction is a life long disease and the children of addicts have “The Gene”. This can become a self fulfilling prophecy. Dr Drew and Jane Velez-Mitchell are all over TV spouting lots of information as if it is fact.

The fact is many people do not agree with the 12 step dogma at all. What is most upsetting though is how they are stigmatizing our children into thinking they have a disease and inherited a gene from there addicted parents.
The Fix has an excellent article about this below.

We need to stand up to this 12 step madness and save the kids from emotional harm from this brainwashing from 12 step zealots.

How a Bogus Addiction Panic is Criminalizing Our Kids
The new official definition of addiction will likely label many more young Americans with the disease. Do we really want to dump this on the next generation?

By Maia Szalavitz
02/15/12

The DSM V—the next edition of psychiatry’s diagnostic bible—will redefine addiction in ways likely to have long-lasting, real-world consequences. As I explored in my column last week, psychiatrists are eliminating the seriously problematic terms “Substance Abuse” and “Substance Dependence” and placing all related conditions into a single new category: “Substance Use and Addictive Disorders.”

snip

Indeed, research shows that some people who meet the full criteria for alcoholism or addiction can return to controlled use—though this proportion decreases as severity of the problem increases. The data also shows that a large proportion of people who would currently be diagnosed as “substance dependent” recover without any type of treatment or self-help involvement at all.

In short, no one can predict which college drunk will go on to skid row—and which one will become President.

snip

Even now, however, a great deal of treatment energy and time is currently aimed at trying to get people in recovery to admit that they have “the disease of addiction” and to label themselves as “addicts” or “alcoholics” in therapy groups. Counselors and other staff press clients to confess to a greater and greater problem severity, due to the pervasive suspicion that most people with addiction lie about how much they use. (This continues to be done in the face of research showing that doing so does not benefit recovery—if anything, “confronting denial” is linked with more relapse, not less.)

This push to adopt an addict identity happens even in adolescent treatment— despite the fact that most teens in treatment do not meet criteria for being addicted (some don’t even meet criteria for drug abuse!). Indeed, the vast majority are, not surprisingly, nondaily binge users of booze and pot. Nonetheless, at ever-younger ages, these kids are being pressured to view themselves primarily as addicts and alcoholics and to admit to having a chronic, lifelong illness with a 90% chance of relapse. Very little research has been done on the effects of this “treatment”—but given what we know about the fluidity of adolescent identity, it certainly has the potential to do significant harm.

For one, it can be a self-fulfilling prophecy—and I’ve spoken with quite a few people who have gone into adolescent treatment as marijuana users and emerged as cocaine or prescription drug misusers, in part because they felt that they were “already addicts anyway.” Second, since research cannot predict which teens will outgrow their problems and which will have a chronic course, does it really make sense to have them all embrace a stigmatized identity centered around a disease?

Alcoholics Anonymous Sponsor Arrested For Sexual Assault

This recent arrest of Boulder Colorado AA Sponsor for sexual assault against his sponsee, is yet another example of the increasing sexual assaults being committed by Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous members. You cannot trust the sponsors. They are given way to much power and trust, considering many of them have criminal backgrounds and are still dealing with many unresolved drug and emotional problems.

This woman who was going to confess her sins to this low life, instead she says he sexually assaulted her! Confessing your sins in AA is a ridiculous practice. You do that if you are Catholic and go to confession, not to some stranger that has no training in dealing in the mental health field, or even training on a ministry level.

Laureano Sifuentes Arrested On Suspicion Of Sexual Unlawful Sexual Contact

BOULDER, Colo. — A sponsor for an Alcoholics Anonymous group in Boulder is accused of sexually assaulting a member he had offered to help.
Longmont police arrested Laureano Sifuentes, 64, Wednesday night on suspicion of unlawful sexual contact. Sifuentes posted bond Thursday morning.
Boulder detectives have been investigating Sifuentes since November 2011 when a woman reported that Sifuentes had touched her inappropriately during a meeting that he had scheduled at a Boulder hotel.

The woman said he persuaded two women in the AA group that he would help them through one of the AA steps. That step is about disclosing information about past wrongs to one other person, and it’s usually done one-on-one in a private setting, Boulder police spokeswoman Kim Kobel said.
Sifuentes arranged a meeting at a hotel in Boulder and the victim, along with another female in the AA group, agreed to attend, Kobel said.
The victim said that during their meeting, Sifuentes touched her sexually. She fled the hotel and called to have someone pick her up at another location.

Sifuentes has previous arrests in 1998 and 2000 for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Detective Colleen Wilcox at 303-441-4483. Those who have information but wish to remain anonymous may contact the Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or 1-800-444-3776.
Tips can also be submitted through the Crime Stoppers website. Those submitting tips through Crime Stoppers that lead to the arrest and filing of charges on a suspect(s) may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000 from Crime Stoppers.

Is Progress Being Made In America’s Treatment Of Drug Users ?

This story talks about changes in the current treatment of drug users. There are signs of more compassion, but at the same time the hard core War On Drugs mentality is still very prevalent. The article talks about Drug Court, which is trying to point out one way society has changed to being more compassionate. In some cases yes, and in many cases no.

Drug Courts are a highly structured and strict program that mandates participants to attend Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous among a host of other conditions. There are a lot of Drug Court practices that are not actually compassionate at all. Sometimes it ends up being much worse for the participant than if they would of not agreed to Drug Court in the first place.

More states are releasing prisoners for over crowding, which is creating it’s own set of problems. Many of these prisoners are on probation once released and mandated to attend AA/NA. This creates many of the safety problems and crimes we are seeing in AA/NA today. These problems are only getting worse and not better for the rooms of AA/NA, as this practice continues of mandating sexual offenders and violent felons to 12 step meetings in droves.

Pills and progress
Signs of compassion mixed with pragmatism are emerging in America’s treatment of drug users, who are also changing their habits

Feb 11th 2012 | ATLANTA AND AUSTIN

Pill Mills

ON A recent evening, some 50 people turned up for their weekly reckoning at Judge Joel Bennett’s drug court in Austin, Texas. Those who had had a good week—gone to their Narcotics Anonymous meetings and stayed out of trouble—got a round of applause. The ones who had stumbled received small punishments: a few hours of community service, a weekend in jail, a referral to inpatient treatment. Most were sanguine about that. Completing the programme will mean a year of sobriety and the dismissal of their criminal charges.

After the session, Mr Bennett noted that the drugs problem has grown worse during his nearly 20 years on the bench, largely due to poverty, poor education and cycles of abuse. Still, he reckoned, less punitive approaches to drug users are gaining acceptance. That is largely because the punitive approach has failed.

Political policy
More than 40 years have passed since Richard Nixon declared a federal “war on drugs”, and drug use is still a big problem. In 2008 roughly 8.9% of Americans aged 12 and older used an illegal drug, up from 5.8% in 1991-93. Nor have the consequences abated: in 2008, according to preliminary data from the Centres for Disease Control (CDC), there were 37,792 drug-induced deaths, compared with 14,218 in 1995.

snip

The cost of jailing so many people, particularly in straitened times, together with a lessening in the pressure on politicians (because of the declining violence) have led to a change in the tough-on-crime rhetoric. In 2009 Gil Kerlikowske, the director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, announced that the office would no longer use the phrase “war on drugs”. Sixteen states have legalised marijuana for medical use, and over a dozen have similar legislation pending. In 2010 Barack Obama signed the Fair Sentencing Act, which lets judges take mitigating factors into account when sentencing a prisoner, reversing the mandatory-minimum policies that led to long jail terms for non-violent crimes. It also reversed the sentencing disparity between convictions for crack and powder cocaine, enacted in 1986 when crack was believed to be more addictive and dangerous than powder (as well as more popular with poor blacks than rich whites).

At least 23 states have passed or are considering similar reforms. Proposals vary, but many would grant judges more leeway in sentencing and also steer low-level, non-violent drug offenders away from prison and toward alternatives: community-supervised treatment, probation, halfway houses and daily reporting. Drug treatment is included in Mr Obama’s health-care reforms, with effect from 2014.

Whitney Houston Dies At 48 February 11th 2012

Whitney Houston Dead at 48

R.I.P. WHITNEY

Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston died this afternoon at age 48, a rep for the singer told the Associated Press.

Publicist Kristen Foster said Saturday that the singer had passed, and it was later learned that she died in her fourth floor hotel room at the Beverly Hilton where Clive Davis‘ annual Grammy party is scheduled tonight. The cause of death has not been revealed.

At her peak in the 1980s and ’90s, Houston the golden girl of the music industry and one of the world’s best-selling artists. Among her hits were “How Will I Know,” “Saving All My Love for You” and “I Will Always Love You.” She won multiple Grammys including album and record of the year.

By the end of her career, she became a tabloid headline, ravaged by drug use, erratic behavior and a tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown. The singer also confessed to abusing cocaine, marijuana and pills.

ABC News says she her last public sighting was this past Thursday, “when she appeared disheveled and disoriented in front of a Hollywood nightclub.” Celebuzz has those, among other pics of Whitney in her final days below:

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Whitney was involved in some type of argument with with X Factor finalist Stacy Francis that same night at an event. She was reportedly acting “belligerent.”

CNN is reporting that Ray J was with the singer and was the one who found her dead. This is according to a friend of his that spoke to CNN.

TMZ reports that she was found dead in the bathtub of her room. Police arrived within minutes of the call, but when paramedics performed CPR it was unsuccessful. She was pronounced dead at 3:55p.m.

Whitney was working on a new project, a remake of the movie Sparkle with Jordin Sparks and Cee Lo Green. JustJared reports that she was expected to arrive in studio for a photo shoot this afternoon. She was also scheduled to attend Clive Davis’ Annual Grammy Party this evening.

She was the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston, the cousin of Dionne Warwick and the goddaughter of Aretha Franklin.

Quincy Jones tells Celebuzz of her loss: “I am absolutely heartbroken at the news of Whitney’s passing. Ashford & Simpson first made me aware of Whitney when she was just sixteen, and I always regretted not having had the opportunity to work with her. She was a true original and a talent beyond compare. I will miss her terribly.”

Some Blacks Feel Alcoholics Anonymous Is Too White

This article describes a black woman who refused to go to AA but did have support from her church. It brings up an interesting point that Blacks view that confessing your sins in AA, and airing your dirty laundry as foreign to them, and goes against their belief system. Actually I think many people of all races probably are not thrilled with this part of AA! It is also I think a very dangerous practice. Scientology practices this too.

AA does have a higher % of whites than blacks according to Alcoholics Anonymous Statistics. I know I have witnessed in Volusia County Drug Courts that the participants were predominately white, and they are mandated to AA/NA/CA. The meetings I have seen over the years in our Holly Hill Parks our also predominately white. So when I came across this article I found it interesting.

Of course the author of the article is of the opinion that the woman would of been better off going to AA, no mention of SMART that does NOT ask you to confess your sins.

Black Church

snip

‘This attitude is fairly common among African-Americans addicts in poor neighborhoods in most large US cities; ironically, while the biggest complaint about AA and NA among skeptical middle-class white addicts is the dependence on a Higher Power, in urban black communities 12-step recovery groups are marginalized because they aren’t explicitly allied with any church. In addition, the confessional mode of “sharing” that defines the AA fellowship is alien to the ethic of African- neighborhoods, where airing your dirty laundry in public is disappoved of rather than viewed as a method of establishing trust and fellowship. For the same reason, professional psychotherapy is frequently dismissed as a “white” treatment; given the church’s influence, mental health issues are widely viewed as caused by a lack of faith remedied by more regular attendance at Bible study.

When I was new to doing social work in the black community, this widespread attitude confused me and frustrated my efforts to help my black clients. An an ex-junkie, I could vow for the benefits to be gained from both recovery groups and therapy. A North Philly church lady coworker set me straight. “A lot of black don’t feel that AA and therapy are alien to everything they know,” she told me. “If you got problems you just go to church on Sunday and scream your head off and then everything’s fine.”

But for Susan, it turned out, everything wasn’t fine. While Jesus and the church were pulling her in one direction, the judicial system had made an unwelcome appearance and was pulling her in another. The entire time Susan was in prison, the state of Pennsylvania was running a tab on all the welfare dollars her mother received in her children’s names. Consequently, per state law, Susan was held responsible for the total amount upon her release, and soon the welfare department came calling to get its money back.’

New Zealand NA Member Pleads Guilty To Manslaughter

This NA Member got to stay Anonymous even in court!

Identity kept secret in drug death case

The son of a well-known New Zealand wine-making family has been granted name suppression and released on bail despite pleading guilty to manslaughter. The 40-year-old man pleaded guilty in the High Court at Auckland yesterday to the manslaughter of a drug associate he injected with morphine.

The man retained name suppression after arguing the effect could be detrimental to an unwell family member.
Court documents said the man met the victim at Narcotics Anonymous in Auckland and they agreed to swap a tent for drugs.

They met in the Auckland suburb of Sandringham in March 2010, drank beer and took a diazepam tablet together.
The accused then dissolved a 100mg morphine sulphate tablet and injected half of it in his own neck before injecting the remaining portion in the victim’s right arm.

He went outside and spoke to his girlfriend on his cellphone and when he returned his friend was slumped under the table he had been sitting at. Chest compressions and slaps failed to revive him so the man gathered his drug paraphernalia and left the house.

The man’s girlfriend later persuaded him to return and call an ambulance, by which time the friend was dead.
It took six months for the man to be charged.

In the time before he was charged, the man had offered to pay his girlfriend $50,000 not to testify against him.

A charge of perverting the course of justice was dropped after the man pleaded guilty yesterday.

Defence lawyer Greg Morison said the man had completed a residential drug treatment programme since the crime.

He was undertaking another residential programme in Dunedin which is where he was bailed to.

Justice Timothy Brewer said cases of manslaughter by injecting people with drugs were not as rare as defence counsel had said.

He rejected that naming the man could endanger the jobs of people at the family’s winery as he doubted people would stop drinking the family’s wines as a result of the case.

The judge said he doubted that name suppression would continue after sentencing but he continued interim suppression after Morison said he wanted to obtain affidavits from the man’s sick relative’s specialist.

A home detention report was ordered and the man was bailed to the Dunedin drug treatment programme until sentencing in March.

AA Member Who Bilked Millions Is Sentenced In Ponzi Scheme

New Jersey Alcoholics Anonymous member Jenifer Devine ripped off millions from some of the people she met at her New Jersey AA meetings. She is described to be an alcoholic, bipolar and suicidal and is now hospitalized to get help. Jenifer still had the mental ability to  deviously lure AA members into her web of lies and gain their trust to bilk them.

Stories of AA members getting financially scammed by fellow members is nothing new. It is on the list of the many 12 step predatory behaviors that have been documented.

If you go to AA/NA/CA meetings, please be wary of people asking to borrow money or encourage you to invest in their financial schemes. Don’t do it! You are not an ATM machine. Addicts by nature are very manipulative and deceitful. Protect yourself financially and physically. No need to let your guard down for sponsors either!

Fair Lawn resident receives sentence in Ponzi scheme

Fair Lawn – A borough resident who bilked investors out of $2 million in a Ponzi scheme was sentenced to more than three years last week.

Jenifer Devine, 39, of Fair Lawn – the owner and operator of Devine Wholesale in Carlstadt – admitted to wire fraud charges in U.S. District Court on Sept. 15 in connection to her $8 million Ponzi scheme. She was ordered by U.S. District Court Judge Claire C. Cecchi on Jan. 11 to pay more than $2 million in restitution to her 10 victims, some of whom she meet through Alcoholics Anonymous.

Cecchi rejected pleas that Devine be allowed to say goodbye to her two children and immediately remanded her into custody. Devine, who has a history of alcoholism and bipolar disorder, was hospitalized last week for suicidal thoughts, authorities said.

Cecchi said Devine would be sent to a facility where she can receive appropriate care.

Devine raised more than $8 million from investors between December 2008 and September 2010 by promising high returns – approximately 25 percent – to investors in New Jersey and throughout the United States within 30 to 60 days. Devine convinced investors that she was in the business of buying and selling wholesale clothing and electronics for profit, but actually did virtually no legitimate business, authorities said.

Scientology Scams and the Predatory Cult Of Narconon

Warning to those thinking they are seeking out Narcotics Anonymous and stumble across Narconon ads in the US, Canada or abroad- BEWARE!  People getting involved with AA or NA will have enough problems with those Organizations without having to get harmed by this arm of Scientology.

Narconon – Predatory Cult

Posted on January 21, 2012
“The lucrative market for predatory cults and interventionists to fill their coffers with fast cash appears to be expanding faster than a get rich quick, pyramid scheme. A simple Google search for an “interventionist” or “addiction help”, immediately entraps the vulnerable into the money machine of cons and quackery.” A recent Narconon documentary exposing the health risks and dangers at Narconon and Scientology in Quebec, has stirred an ongoing controversy, resulting in government intervention at Narconon Trois-Rivieres. The Ministry of Health and Social Services is investigating numerous complaints arising from patients being mistreated and abused. The Quebec Human Rights Commission is moving forward with several cases, including Narconon exploiting disabled patients, forced labour without remuneration, as well as intimidation and other abuses. http://narcononcanada.com/2012/01/21/narconon-predatory-cult/

Narconon Scam- ‘Narconon websites and brochures profess that Narconon has qualified professional counselors who tend to the individual needs of each patient, when, in fact, many of these Narconon “counselors” have no training whatsoever, except for the Scientology courses taken at each Narconon and a certificate printed in fancy colors. This alone is what Narconon means by “certified counselor”.   As a Narconon Trois-Rivières patient and staff member, I experienced my private life being stripped away and my dignity reduced to a state of obedience under the control of Scientology gradient indoctrinations. As a staff member, I enrolled in the Scientology-Narconon courses to help suffering patients lead a drug free life — I cared with my entire being. To become a course room supervisor was an easy task, although extremely boring, and most of the training material made absolutely no sense as far as drug treatment and rehab therapies are concerned. Listening to 12 hours of tape recordings by the founder of Scientology, L. Ron Hubbard, was a prescription equivalent to a handful of Valium or bottle of barbiturates; my efforts to avoid falling asleep failed me on several occasions. As a former owner/operator of a rehab facility back in the early 1990’s, I wondered what the hell this absurd course had to do with treating addicts. For twelve days, I listened to Hubbard ramble on about his photography experiences and I had to “word-clear”ridiculous words such as “nomenclature”, “it”, “the”, etc. — having to define with dictionary-like perfection what these words mean. “Oh, this should really help a distraught, suffering addict,” I mused. I later learned that it was all about being able to control others, as well as obeying the control commands of superiors. A gradient of brainwashing may well be the best way to describe this process. When patients complete the Narconon program, which consists of studying eight Scientology books with Narconon stamped on them and completing the toxic sauna Purification Rundown, many are more confused and unable to cope than when they first arrived. In this vulnerable state, being recruited onto staff by a keen Scientology staff member is no big chore. “Saving lives” is the motto each morning at the military-style roll-call. Playing God in a science-fiction adventure of deception and abuse may be a fitting way to describe the plot of the Narconon story.’ http://narcononcanada.com/2012/02/01/narconon-aftercare-relapses/ Narconon on the Rip Off Report- http://www.ripoffreport.com/directory/Narconon.aspx

GRAHAM, Wash. — Days after a judge ruled against him in a child custody hearing, a father and his two young sons were killed Sunday when police said he appeared to intentionally blow up a house with all three inside – a tragic ending to a bizarre case that began more than two years ago when the man’s wife went mysteriously missing in Utah.

A social worker brought the two boys to Josh Powell’s home for what was to be a supervised visit, and Powell let his sons inside – but then blocked the social worker from entering, Graham Fire and Rescue Chief Gary Franz told The Associated Press.

The social worker called her supervisors to report that she could smell gas, and moments later the home exploded.

Sgt. Ed Troyer, Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman, said emails that Powell sent authorities seemed to confirm that Powell planned the deadly blast. Troyer didn’t elaborate on the contents of the emails, but said they make police believe “this is intentional, this is planned.”

Authorities said they found three bodies in the home late Sunday afternoon as fire crews and police continued to search the rubble. Troyer said it appeared some sort of accelerant was used to make the house burn faster.

Jeffrey Bassett, who represented Powell in the custody case, said he received a brief email from his client just minutes before Powell and the two boys died. It said, “I’m sorry, goodbye.”

The email arrived at 12:05 p.m. Sunday, about 10 minutes before the explosion, but he didn’t see it until two hours later, when others told him Josh and the boys had been killed. He said he knew Josh was upset after being ordered to undergo a psycho-sexual evaluation recently, but he didn’t see this coming.

Powell was under investigation in the disappearance of his 28-year-old wife Susan from their West Valley City, Utah, home in December 2009. He claimed he had taken the boys on a midnight excursion in freezing temperatures when she vanished.

The children, 5-year-old Braden and 7-year-old Charles, had been living with Susan Powell’s parents since Josh Powell’s father, Steven, was arrested on child porn and voyeurism charges last fall. On Wednesday, a judge had denied an attempt by Josh Powell to regain custody, saying she wouldn’t consider returning the two boys to their father until he underwent a psycho-sexual evaluation.

The Big Book And Alcoholics Anonymous Saved My Life Says Newt Gingrich

Even though Newt Gingrich has denied having an alcohol problem,he says the Big Book saved his life. He might of even committed suicide without it. Rather strange for someone to turn to the Big Book who does not have a drinking problem, or admit to some form of addiction. Yet he does not offer any explanation. But based on his statements accusing our government of ‘ secular bigotry’ gives a hint to his radical views. This country actually routinely denies Americans secular alternatives in recovery, going against what our constitution states.

Newt Gingrich on the first day of office wants to wipe away every policy that adversely impacts religion. Wow. We are in big trouble for the small gains we have made in this country in separation of church and state issues. Newt wants to reverse all such gains.

Here is an in depth article about Newt and AA, including Newt’s position on the Drug War. He once believed in mass executions of drug dealers in this country. Really hard core stuff. The Fix is a pro-AA site, yet they do not seem impressed with Gingrich.

Newt Gingrich: ‘AA Saved My Life’

The much-maligned Republican front-runner says the Big Book made him see the light. But his critics are not convinced.

By Walter Armstrong

12/12/11

When presidential candidates—especially the current crop of Republican hopefuls—need to cite a text on spirituality, they usually thumb through carefully selected Bible passages or the Ten Commandments. But Newt Gingrich has always liked defying convention. A startling video of the former House Speaker, who’s enjoying a widening double-digit lead over Mitt Romney just three weeks before the Iowa Caucuses, shows the Roman Catholic convert speaking not of God or Jesus, but of a “greater authority,” as described in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. Although careful to avoid official AA language like a “higher power,” Gingrich offers plenty of clues that in the two decades since he left the House of Representatives, he’s acquired a more than passing familiarity of Bill W.’s spiritual treatise.

In late November, at a televised GOP candidate forum in Iowa hosted by a Christian evangelical group—a “Thanksgiving Family Forum”—Gingrich stole the show. Asked to elaborate on his religious beliefs, he told an anecdote about “a doctor friend in Atlanta” who gave him “the two books that make up Alcoholics Anonymous”—the Big Book and the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions—and spoke movingly about how AA’s principles had saved him from a professional and personal crisis two decades before.

“I wasn’t drinking, but I had precisely the symptoms of somebody who was collapsing from under its weight,” he said, skirting discussion of his divorces and infidelities. ‘My life was full of accomplishments and achievements,” but “there was part of me that was truly hollow. I had to recognize how limited I was and how much I had to depend on the spiritual.”

And then he discovered AA: “Had I not had that intervention, I might have collapsed totally. That was the beginning of turning my life around,” Gingrich said.

Rick Santorum and Michelle Bachman, who claim a direct line to Jesus Christ Himself, could only stare at the prop pumpkin at the center of the cozy wooden table, their frozen smiles melting into consternation and confusion, as if wondering for the first time, Is the drunks-in-recovery vote big enough to court?

snip

Last June, with his campaign floundering, Gingrich started to once again talk up his affection for AA. On Fox and Friends, he defended President Obama against host Gretchen Carlson’s charges of hypocrisy for invoking “God” and “prayer” in a speech despite the fact that the president does not attend church every Sunday. Gingrich said, “Look, in my new book To Save America: Stopping Obama’s Secular-Socialist Machine, I reprint the entire 12-step program from Alcoholics Anonymous. Six of the 12 steps involve a higher authority…” The relevance of his statement to the issue at hand was less then exact, apart from it being a plug for his book. But it was notable, nonetheless, because Gingrich, never hesitant to heap forgiveness of himself, struck this tone of forgiveness toward the president, and forgiveness is an ethic central to AA.

snip

And for a man who says he was saved by the Big Book and the Twelve And Twelve, he seems deficient in the very quality—empathy—that drives the thriving fellowship in the rooms. Gingrich may have found his Higher Power, but he seems to have missed AA’s deeper point as articulated in the Twelfth Step: “the art of helping others and selfless service.” “Addictive drugs deprive you of full citizenship and they lead you to a dependency which is antithetical to being an American,” he said in November, laying on the stigma pretty thick.

Catholic Church Sent Pedophile Father Ivan Ferguson To Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings

A lawsuit by a former alter boy about sex abuse at the hands of Father Ivan Ferguson that took place in the 1980’s, exposes the cover up of the Catholic Church. They think curing alcoholism in Father Ivan Ferguson by sending him to Alcoholics Anonymous will do the trick.

So we don’t just have the problem of the court system sending sexual predators to Alcoholics Anonymous, but the Catholic Church started thinking years ago that sending their pedophile priests to AA was the way to go. This just makes me sick. These poor children. Let’s start protecting the children and stop protecting the pedophiles by covering up their crimes, and hiding in AA granting anonymity.

priest cartoons, priest cartoon, priest picture, priest pictures, priest image, priest images, priest illustration, priest illustrations

The suit claims that senior church officers, including former Archbishop John F. Whealon, knew that Ferguson had abused two brothers in the Tarriffville section of Simsbury two years earlier, in 1979, but failed to prevent the priest from having further contact with children.

Church records entered as evidence in the case show that Ferguson was a teacher at Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford when he confessed to abusing the Tarriffville brothers. Whealon removed Ferguson from the high school and sent him, for three months, to a church clinic that noted Ferguson’s pedophilia but existed principally to treat alcoholic nuns and priests.

The records show that Whealon and the clinicians who treated Ferguson at the St. Luke Institute in Holliston, Mass., in 1979 believed his pedophilia could be controlled if he attended Alcoholics Anonymous and controlled his drinking.

Upon Ferguson’s release from St. Luke, Whealon assigned the priest to a Catholic high school for girls in Milford. Not long after his assignment in Milford, the records show that Ferguson was pressing to be assigned to a school for boys.

The assignment to a boy’s school “did not materialize,” according to the records. But by 1981, he had been assigned as the principal of a Catholic grammar school in Derby for boys and girls. It was while Ferguson was at St. Mary’s School in Derby that he is accused of molesting the altar boy, known in his suit as Jacob Doe, and the altar boy’s best friend. The boys were age 13 to 15 when the abuse took place.

The records show that by 1982, Ferguson and the people who treated him at St. Luke were proposing that Whealon assign him to a “teen ministry.” The records do not reflect how Whealon received the proposal.

Ferguson died in 2002.

Dubay’s ruling prevented the archdiocese from calling former Penn State University history professor John P. Jenkins as a witness.

Jenkins is a widely published historian with specialities in the Catholic church and aberrant behavior. In the 1990s, Jenkins wrote, among other things, “Moral Panic: Changing Concepts of the Child Molester in Modern America” and “Pedophiles and Priests: Anatomy of a Contemporary Crisis.”

Colombo Mobster Wise Guy Attending Daily Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings

After Mobster Scott Fappiano left his in-patient drug treatment program after 6 months, he started attending almost daily New York Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. You really don’t know who you might meet at an AA meeting!

Colombo crime family associate Scott Fappiano facing jail time

January 20, 2012

A reputed Colombo crime family associate who served more than 20 years in prison on a wrongful conviction now faces more jail time for a new crime he admits committing.

But an attorney for Scott Fappiano argues that the trauma of his criminal justice ordeal has taken a toll on the man – and has asked a judge to keep this in mind when sentencing the wiseguy next week.

Since being exonerated through DNA evidence that cleared him of raping a NYPD officer’s wife, Fappiano has grappled with problems of substance abuse directly linked to his conviction for a crime he didn’t commit, his attorney says.

“In the years following his release, Mr. Fappiano struggled with alcohol and drugs in a misguided attempt at self-medicating for the severe anxiety and post-traumatic stress from which he was suffering,” his lawyer, Harlan J. Protass, wrote to a federal judge.

Following a DUI arrest in New Jersey in 2010, Fappiano has tried to confront these substance abuse problems and is wrestling to conquer them, his attorney says.

Late last year, the 50-year-old wiseguy checked himself into a long-term residential drug and alcohol treatment facility in Queens and spent six months as an in-patient there. The program proved to be a “success,” Protass said.

Since leaving re-hab, Fappiano has started a new regimen – participating in weekly counseling sessions and attending Alcoholics Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous meetings “on an almost daily basis,” Protass said.

But Brooklyn federal prosecutors have written to Judge Kiyo Matsumoto to highlight another side of Fappiano’s life.

The feds say that after Fappiano left prison after being cleared, he was quick to resume his association with mobsters.

“He schemed with members and associates of the Colombo family to assault the ex-husband of his current wife, to commit a violent armed robbery, and to distribute marijuana,” Assistant US Attorney Liz Geddes wrote to the judge.

AA Sponsor Michael Skakel Wants Reduction In His Sentence For Martha Moxley Murder

michael Skakel is wanting the court to reduce his 20 year sentence, in part because he has helped a lot of people in Alcoholics Anonymous. Talk about AA being a ‘get out of jail card’, they were not kidding!

Michael Skakel joined AA when he was around 20 years old and had been an AA sponsor for along time. He even worked for AA as well. After killing Martha Moxley at the age of 15 with a golf club, he grew up to be An Alcoholics Anonymous Leader.

Here is an except from original trial- 2002

‘During two days of testimony last week, Dennis heard from two men who said Skakel in 1978 separately told them he murdered Moxley while attending the Elan School rehab center in Maine. The judge also heard evidence from Skakel’s childhood best friend, Andrew Pugh, who testified that years after the murder Skakel confided to being at the crime scene the night Moxley was slain with a golf club owned by the Skakel family.

Pugh testified that after a chance encounter at a 1991 Alcoholics Anonymous meeting in Greenwich, Skakel told him he had climbed the tree under which Moxley’s body was found, and that he masturbated in the tree. One of the prosecution’s former Elan School residents, Gregory Coleman, testified Skakel confided he “drove in (Moxley’s) skull” with a golf club and later returned to the body to masturbate over it. Coleman also testified Skakel bragged he would get away with the crime because “he was related to the Kennedy family.” ‘

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Kennedy cousin Michael Skakel plans to seek a reduction in his sentence of 20 years to life in prison for the killing of his neighbor when they were teenagers in 1975.

Skakel, a nephew of Robert Kennedy’s widow, Ethel Kennedy, is scheduled to appear Tuesday before a three-judge panel in Middletown that reviews sentences.
Skakel was sentenced in 2002 after he was convicted of bludgeoning 15-year-old Martha Moxley to death with a golf club in wealthy Greenwich. Moxley’s brother and mother are expected to attend the hearing.Prosecutor Susann Gill said she would argue the sentence was appropriate.Skakel’s attorney, Hope Seeley, said she would focus on the fact he was only 15 at the time of the crime. She said he has helped a lot of people through Alcoholics Anonymous and the life he has lived shows the public doesn’t need to be protected from him.

Longtime AA Sponsor Sentenced To Death For Brutal Florida Murders

John Kalisz 57, who had over 20 years of sobriety in Alcoholics Anonymous, became a sponsor to many. Even after being in the program for so long he is sentenced to death for the brutal murders of his sister, her employee and a police officer. Also prior to this he was convicted of crimes involving his niece where he had to register as a sex offender.
His public defender actually asked the jurors their opinion of Alcoholics Anonymous and if they believed alcoholism was a disease.
‘During much of last week’s jury selection, public defender Alan Fanter focused his questions on alcoholism. He asked jurors for their opinions about Alcoholics Anonymous, if they knew any alcoholics and if they believed alcoholism was curable.’
Then they had a witness that said if his life was spared he would be an asset to the prison because of his AA experience. Are you serious?
‘Ron McAndrews, a former prison warden who advocates for an end to capital punishment, was the last witness called Thursday morning by the defense. He said Kalisz, if sentenced to life, would become an “asset” to a prison’s general population because of his experiences with AA.’

BROOKSVILLE –Death was the unanimous recommendation by jurors Thursday.John Kalisz, 57, convicted of slaying two women and seriously wounding two more during a Jan. 14, 2010 shooting spree, sat stone-faced when the advisory sentences were read.Jurors were sent shortly before 3 p.m. to the deliberation room to decide on a punishment recommendation for Kalisz. They reached it in less than an hour. The vote was 12-0.Prosecutor Pete Magrino said because of the “evilness” of the killings, the most appropriate punishment for Kalisz was death by lethal injection.Magrino called the slayings “cold, calculated and premeditated with no legal or moral justification.”Kalisz fatally shot his sister, Kathryn Donovan, 61, and her employee, Deborah Tillotson, 59, during a revenge-thirsty rampage. He also shot and wounded his niece, Manessa Donovan, 21, and another woman, Amy Green, 35.All four victims were at the elder Donovan’s home at 15303 Wilhelm Road near Brooksville. Kalisz, who used to live at the house, came in through a backdoor and shot the women 14 times.

Manessa Donovan was eight weeks pregnant when she was shot. Her fetus died during emergency surgery.

The defense tried for two days to paint Kalisz as a good-natured, selfless man who snapped under the weight of stress, desperation and emotional turmoil.

“He was always there when I needed him – any time with anything,” said a weeping Melissa Williams, a friend of Kalisz’s who testified Thursday morning via video feed.

She credited him with hiring her when she needed to earn money, comforting her when she needed a shoulder to cry on and counseling her as she toiled through a crumbling marriage.

Kalisz’s life since the early 1990s centered on Alcoholics Anonymous. He grew up in a household where abusive drinking was the norm, said defense attorney Devon Sharkey.

It wasn’t long before he was consumed by his own addictions. He spent much of his life homeless and estranged from his family.

He found sobriety and salvation through AA and he was committed to it, his friends and relatives said. He sponsored recovering alcoholics and guided them through the 12-step program.

“AA held him together pretty well for 20 years,” said Peter Bursten, a mental health expert hired by the defense. “He was viewed by others as a good person.”

Bursten said Kalisz’s life in AA boosted his self-esteem. It made him proud he could help people – even turn around their lives. He gleaned “almost a child-like” joy out of it.

“For many years, he didn’t feel what it was like to be a decent human being,” Bursten said, referring to Kalisz’s dark days of living under bridges and spending endless nights in jail for committing petty crimes.

In October 2009, Kalisz pleaded guilty in Hernando County Circuit Court to charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was accused of exposing himself to Manessa Donovan while she was a juvenile and leaving a CD containing provocative photos under her mattress.

He also was accused of threatening Donovan’s boyfriend at the time with a knife. The confrontation was witnessed by family members.

Following his 2009 conviction, Kalisz was sentenced to probation and was required to register as a sex offender. It kept him away from Colorado, where he had hoped to return so he could resume his roofing career and be with those closest to him.

Two days before the fatal shootings in Brooksville and Cross City, Kalisz’s trailer in Spring Hill went up in flames following a propane explosion. What little he owned was lost.

“Not only did he lose his home in Colorado, he lost his home in Florida,” Bursten said. “He had lost his support system in Florida. At that point, he described to me he had nothing left … He was exceptionally (and) emotionally distraught.”

More than an hour after the Wilhelm Road shootings, Kalisz drove north through several counties along U.S. 19. He pulled into a gas station in Cross City, at which time several Dixie County Sheriff’s deputies surrounded him. Kalisz opened fire.

Capt. Chad Reed was shot and killed. Kalisz also was shot, but survived his injuries.

Last year, Kalisz pleaded guilty to murdering Reed and received a life sentence.

Jurors heard for the first time Wednesday evidence related to Reed’s death.

Magrino reminded jurors during his closing argument Thursday that Reed was gunned down in the line of duty.

He also reminded them the younger Donovan and Green survived their seven gunshot wounds during the Wilhelm Road shooting only after playing dead. Had they not, “we would have had a giant massacre here in Hernando County,” Magrino told jurors.

Both women gave emotional testimony last week. Both of them made a point to stare their attacker in the eyes.

Green’s testimony was especially trying for her. She lives in a neighboring county, but does her best to avoid driving into Hernando because the memories of the Wilhelm Road shootings still affect her, said Magrino.

“I had grave doubts whether she’d be able to testify,” he said.

Kalisz’s formal sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 6.

Relatives of Tillotson and Reed were ushered out of the courtroom moments after the sentencing recommendation was read Thursday. They didn’t speak to the media.

Kalisz’s relatives and friends also declined to comment.

Ron McAndrews, a former prison warden who advocates for an end to capital punishment, was the last witness called Thursday morning by the defense. He said Kalisz, if sentenced to life, would become an “asset” to a prison’s general population because of his experiences with AA.

Hours later, in an effort to poke holes into McAndrews’ testimony, Magrino told jurors during his closing arguments Kalisz was arrested in August 2011 for “bartering to get drugs” while in jail.

Demi Moore’s AA Sponsor Pattsy Rugg Dies

Was Demi Moore’s AA sponsor’s death the trigger for her meltdown? New claims suggest the actress was left distraught after Pattsy Rugg’s passing

Actress replaced by Mary-Louise Parker in biopic Lovelace

The meltdown which saw Demi Moore rushed to hospital earlier this week could have been caused by the death of her AA sponsor, new claims have suggested.

According to reports, the 49-year-old actress was left so distraught following the death of Pattsy Rugg, who she previously introduced to friends as her ‘mom’, last year, that her passing may have triggered the star’s health scare which saw her seek treatment for anorexia and substance abuse issues.

Demi looked overcome with emotion as she left Rugg’s funeral held Christ the King Church in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, in December.

The new claims about the trigger of Demi’s issues have emerged as it has been reported the mother-of-three is addicted to prescription drug Adderall – one of the addictions that is thought to have led to her reported seizure on Monday night.

A source close to the actress told RadarOnline.com: ‘Demi has been taking Adderall and drinking energy drinks and starving herself and those are some of the serious causes that led her to collapse.

‘The pills and starvation destroyed Demi and this has been a problem for about a year.

‘She’s constantly jacked up on Adderall and combining that with not eating accounts for her loopy behavior and anorexic body frame.

‘She literally refuses to eat any food.’

Demi’s estranged husband Ashton Kutcher was last night seen arriving back in Los Angeles looking strained as he jumped behind the wheel of an awaiting SUV and sped off into the night after touching down at LAX airport.

The 33-year-old actor has been in Brazil for the last week where he has been busy attending a slew of events, including a Brazilian fashion show and a Florence And The Machine concert.

Cocaine Anonymous Treasurer Sentenced To Death In Petit Connecticut Murders

Condemned: Joshua Komisarjevsky was sentenced to death today for the brutal murder and rape of a wife and her daughters in Connecticut

Steven Hayes and Joshua Komisarjevsky first crossed paths at a Hartford, Connecticut, drug treatment center in the summer of 2006, according to police.

Both men, career criminals, had been in and out of jail for similar non-violent crimes. Twice they had overlapping stays at the same halfway house or drug center, and the two attended Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings together and became friends, according to a detective’s report. NA Daytona Meetings in Holly Hill Florida.

They shared similar interests — often the downfall that led them into the criminal justice system — but nobody knew at the time that their friendship would result in what police and prosecutors say was one of the most brutal crimes in memory in the prosperous town of Cheshire, Connecticut.

NEW HAVEN, Connecticut (Reuters) – A judge ordered Joshua Komisarjevsky to be executed this summer for the 2007 murders of a mother and her two daughters during a brutal home invasion in Connecticut, saying on Friday that he committed a crime of “unimaginable horror.”Judge Jon Blue told Komisarjevsky, 31, that he alone was to blame for his new address on death row after the triple murders of Jennifer Hawke-Petit, 48, and her daughters Hayley Petit, 17, and Michaela Petit, 11, and beating of husband and father Dr. William Petit Jr.”This is a terrible sentence but one you have written for yourself,” Blue told Komisarjevsky in New Haven Superior Court.”Your crime was one of unimaginable horror and sadness,” the judge said. “Your fate is now in the hands of others. May God have mercy on your soul.”He set an execution date of July 20 pending an appeal, which could drag out the matter for years. Before the judge spoke, Komisarjevsky, dressed in an orange jumpsuit, denied he killed or raped anyone and blamed “the hurt I caused” on being a victim himself of sex abuse as a child, drug addiction, and his accomplice Steven Hayes, 48, already sentenced to death row.Hawke-Petit was strangled and the girls died of smoke inhalation after the home was set afire. New Haven, Connecticut (CNN) — A judge in New Haven sentenced a 31-year-old man to death Friday for his role in a deadly home invasion that killed a woman and her two daughters in 2007.

Jurors convicted Joshua Komisarjevsky in October on six capital felony charges. The 12-member jury had recommended death by lethal injection on each of the counts.

“The task of sentencing another human being to death is the most sober and somber experience a judge can have,” said Superior Court Judge Jon Blue.

Komisarjevsky responded Friday, saying that he “came into this trial angry and defiant.”

It’s a “surreal experience to be condemned to die,” he said. “Our apathetic pursuits trampled the innocent.”

He said, “I did not rape. I did not pour that gas or light that fire.”

“I will never find peace again and my soul is torn,” Komisarjevsky added.

The family of his victims left the courtroom before Komisarjevsky spoke.

Richard Hawke, in a victim’s statement prior to the sentencing, said the killings of his daughter and granddaughters had left him “half-past dead.”

“They offered to give you everything you asked for, you didn’t have to take their lives,” he told Komisarjevsky. “You will from now on be known as a prison number in the book of death. You are now in God’s hands.”

The man convicted of being Komisarjevsky’s accomplice, Steven Hayes, was sentenced to death in 2010. Juries convicted the pair on charges that they beat and tied up Dr. William Petit Jr., raped and strangled his wife, molested one of their daughters and set the house on fire before trying to flee.

DAYTONA BEACH NA MEMBER THREATENS THE LIVES OF CITIZENS IN SUNRISE PARK HOLLY HILL FLORIDA

PHOTO- Daytona Beach Narcotics Anonymous / Alcoholics Anonymous Member, Sunrise Park Holly Hill Florida

The day was November 21st 2010 in Volusia County, Sunrise Park in Holly Hill Florida. The local community had rented the pavilion for a Thanksgiving celebration cookout. It was a beautiful Sunday morning, and there were ribbons around the pavilion to notify others it had been reserved. Law abiding, local business owners and well respected long time residents were preparing to cook a turkey. Steve who had recently run for the position of Mayor of Holly Hill and had been a long time Boy Scout Master was there to cook the turkey.

At around 11:00 a.m., when The Daytona Beach Area Narcotics Anonymous members were starting to arrive for their Sunday meeting, many NA members were quite upset that the citizens of Holly Hill had actually rented the pavilion. Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous continually refuse to pay rent to secure the pavilion for their scheduled meetings. It was available to rent for those that chose to pay the City of Holly Hill the required fees to reserve it for November 21st 2010.

We were unprepared and shocked for what happened next. A tall biker guy named Terrence, actually walked into the center of the pavilion and started to flex his muscles as if he were Hulk Hogan. He said the words from a beatles song that went,  ” Bang, Bang Maxwell silver hammer came down upon her head, Bang bang Maxwell silver hammer made sure she was dead ” while he continued to flex his muscles. Terrence then did a bow to those of us in the pavilion and said, ” I am feeling generous today and will allow you to live another day!”. Needless to say all of us were pretty shocked.

Pictures were taken of this man as he was leaving. He turned and flipped us the bird in a very menacing manner. He then went to his motorcycle and came BACK into the pavilion a 2nd time and told a local Holly Hill citizen, who was a court employee, that he could squash him like a bug. He took out his cell phone, got in our faces and started to take pictures of us. Then he walked over to the NA meeting that was taking place in another part of the park. The Holly Hill Police were called and 3 officers responded to the call. What a relief (we thought).

Little did we know that we would be revictimized again by the very police officers that were called to protect us. They started questioning us in a very hostile tone. Officer Thornton kept demanding to know why we were there. Puzzled by their hostile and odd behavior we kept explaining to her that we had rented the pavilion for a Thanksgiving cookout. We showed them the big Turkey that we were cooking as well. The police were asked by one of the victim’s “is there a problem with the citizens renting out the pavilion? ” Officer Thornton answered quickly, that she thought it was ” MALICIOUS” to rent the pavilion! This was one of many inappropriate and shocking comments coming from Officer Thornton and the other policeman. ( Formal complaints have been filed against Officer Thornton and The Holly Hill Police Department). Officer Angelo Alexogiannis stated that he used to work at The Stewart Marchman Rehab Center and sympathized with the NA members. They showed no concern or interest whatsoever for our safety, or in what had just happened. They exhibited a strong bias in favor of the NA group. They seemed to be joined at the hip. Later it started to make more sense as we learned of Officer Thornton’s own colorful background.

When we had identified the man who had harassed and threatened us, the police said that they knew who he was. They then went over to the large NA meeting taking place and talked and laughed with them a bit, including the member that threatened and harassed us. The officers came back and said to stay away from one another, and allowed this man to remain at the park! He was not arrested or trespassed from the park. One officer asked if their was anything else he could do. We asked if charges could be pressed for threatening us. They said no, there was nothing we could do. Could we fill out a report? No-we could not fill out a report. Then Officer Angelo Alexogiannis was asked if he would at least fill out a report stating what had happened. He promised he would indeed do that.

Well this initially put a damper on the festivities, we made the best out of it and enjoyed a delicious Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings. It was enjoyed by many from the local community.

The following week the police report was requested from the Holly Hill PD. There was a report # given and the incident call, but no actual report. We were later told by staff that the officer decided not to do a report after all! This was  knowing that a report was requested and it had been promised. This appears to be an attempt to cover up the incident to protect the image of Daytona Narcotics Anonymous and the identity of Terrence, the long time NA member that harassed us.

To our complete surprise there were 2 incidents that day at the park. One had a report and the other did not. Both of them shocked us. Where local citizens were threatened there was no report, only a short statement in the incident log stating that the incident was caused by the victim who was threatened and called the police! Also, even though the police stated they knew who the perpetrator was and spoke to him, they did not put his name in the incident log. It’s a good thing citizens were wise enough to get the licence plate of the man,and were able to identify him, Terrence T. This was another rude awaking as to how the police were protecting the NA members, and what a cozy relationship they had with them. We knew then, that the Holly Hill PD and Chief Mark Barker were not going to protect the citizens and local business owners from the harassment and threats by NA members.

Then there was the 2nd report. A woman named Danielle went to the police station later in the afternoon on the day of the incident and filed a report stating that a woman was following her 8 year old daughter around the park with a video camera! At the time it was was not known, but it became clear in the following months that Danielle was the treasurer for the entire Daytona Area Narcotics Anonymous. No where in the report did she state any connection to the earlier incident or that she was affiliated with NA.This was a false report filed by Danielle. This is a crime. She said in her report that the person who she accused of filming her daughter was the lady who owned the store across the street. The owner of the store across the street just happened to be the same person that called the police on Terrence the NA member, and was part of the Thanksgiving party at the pavilion. The owner of the store did not own a video camera. No pictures were taken of her daughter, and certainly the owner was not following a child around taking pictures! This was an obvious attempt by Danielle to start her initial process of setting up the convenience store owner for retaliation. Diabolical indeed! Mark Barker went along with it hook line and sinker. This was the beginning of Danielle making multiple false accusations when calling police against the owner, along with lying to the the commissioners at a City Hall meeting, stating we were dumping cigarette butts on the ground, and blaming it on NA members was just one of the outlandish claims.

Citizens asked to fill out a report that November 21st day, we were denied this right. Yet Danielle was able to waltz into the police department later and file a false police report, which was very oddly written. Neither the police or Danielle were too worried about it, as no one ever came to talk to the owner of the store who was accused of following a child in the park and videotaping her. You would think that a concerned mother would ask the person themselves why they were taking pictures of their daughter, if it actually happened. Of course that was another lie. Danielle is not the mother of the child she was referring to to but her Aunt. She is the daughter of her brother who has a lengthy criminal background.

We soon realized the depth that Holly Hill PD would go to protect NA / AA members. NA members were fabricating stories and lying about the events of that day. Then Narcotics Anonymous World Services in California said that their policy was to do nothing about criminal matters by their own members. We then knew the extent of what we were up against. NAWS advice was to just call the police and that this was a police matter and has nothing to do with them. Well that was, and still is a joke as time would continue to demonstrate the bias of the Holly Hill PD. We knew then that a grass roots effort had to be initiated to expose this fiasco.

Narcotics Anonymous Member Breaks Protective Order Using 12 Step Program As Excuse

Mark Clark who has a lengthy criminal history dating back to 1995, broke the protective order against him by calling his victim from prison. He says it was all in the spirit of  the Narcotics Anonymous 12 step program and just wanted to say he was sorry. The victim was scared and did not appreciate the call. Considering this was his 4th protective order violation, the Judge was not impressed.

A Beatrice man was sentenced 20 to 36 months in prison for making a phone call to a woman who had a protection order against him.

Mark Clark was sentenced in Gage County District Court Wednesday afternoon by Judge Paul Korslund. The convicted offense was a subsequent offense, making it a felony.

Gage County Chief Deputy Attorney Rick Schreiner opened his statement by saying he appreciated how Clark has recently helped law enforcement by cooperating and informing them what he saw during two recent jail assaults at the Gage County Jail.

Schreiner said, however, that it doesn’t take away from the seriousness of the crime he committed and said more jail time is going to have to be served.

“I know there’s no violence and it was just a phone call,” Schreiner said, “but the state takes compliance with court orders very seriously. Based on what you have before you, which is a lengthy criminal history dating back to 1995, I don’t think anything other than the maximum sentence is appropriate.”

Schreiner also noted that the victim in this case has expressed fear about the possibility of Clark getting out of jail.

A sentence of 20 to 60 months was possible for Clark, which is a sentence that his attorney, Jeffrey Goltz, felt was a bit much for a phone call.

Goltz said Clark’s phone call to the victim was an attempt to apologize, which is part of a 12-step program in Narcotics Anonymous.

Killers Probation Revoked For Missing Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings!

Now this is a tough one. What is a killer to do when he has missed too many Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and is sent back to the slammer ? Demand answers that is what you do! In 1991 Charles Doucette was convicted of killing a man execution style as well as a couple of home invasions. He received 7 life sentences. In a controversial decision, the Parole Board released him on parole in 2007. How does that happen with 7 life sentences? It looks like he missed one too many AA meetings along with other parole infractions though and got sent back to his cell.

Killer in custody wants answer from Parole Board

By Julie Manganis

PEABODY — Lawyers for convicted killer Charles “Chucky” Doucette have gone to court, asking a judge to order the state Parole Board to make a decision one way or the other whether Doucette has violated his parole.

The complaint, filed Tuesday in Salem Superior Court, says Doucette, 51, has been waiting 71/2 months, since a hearing in July before two board members, on whether his arrest on domestic abuse charges — as well as allegations that he associated with someone with a criminal record, missed Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and fell behind on his parole fees — means the revocation of his parole.

Doucette was later cleared of the domestic abuse charges and is being held in custody while he awaits a Parole Board ruling.

Doucette pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the 1991 execution-style shooting of Raymond Bufalino of Salem, as well as a pair of home invasions while awaiting trial, and received seven life sentences.

The Parole Board, in a controversial, split decision, voted to release him on parole in 2007.

Doucette has twice faced new criminal charges — and both times, those cases were either dismissed or he was found not guilty. The first case was an allegation of sexual assault, which was presented to a grand jury that opted not to indict.

The second case was an arrest on Valentine’s Day last year, when he was accused of dragging his girlfriend with his vehicle during a domestic dispute outside his Beverly home. He was found not guilty of that allegation after a trial in May.

Alcoholics Anonymous Treasurer Arrested for Swinging Machete At Fiance

A drunk UK Alcoholics Anonymous Treasurer was swinging a machete at his fiancee and her son. He then attacked the police car after it arrived and then chased the police car with his fiancee and her son in the cruiser! His attorney defended him in court stating he had stopped attending AA meetings. Look out for your local AA treasurer going off the wagon!

Kevin Breedon

Peterborough, UK – Kevin Breedon, 34, had a bad night. Just after 2AM on October 30, UK police reportedly found the drunken Breedon waving an 18-inch machete at his fiancée and her 17-year-old son outside his home. It was not reported why.

For their safety, one of the responding officers immediately got the woman and her son into the back of his patrol car. According to court documents, Breedon responded by striking the vehicle repeatedly with the machete in a ‘frenzy of blows’ as the officer tried to drive away. The officer was able to drive away in an effort to get the subjects of Breedon’s ire to a local police station.

Court documents described that, after the patrol car had left, Breedon got into the woman’s Ford Focus to pursue them. In the chaos, though, Breedon had lost track of which patrol car his fiancée and her son were in and began pursuing the wrong police car.

Pursuing a police car…  Hmmm…

In court, prosecutors described Breedon chasing the police car driven by Pc Barry Gray through the streets of the town of St. Neots. A local news account stated that “police were forced to drive at 70mph in a 30mph zone as [Breedon] chased them” in the Ford Focus. Breedon then got on the A428 where he reached speeds of up to 100mph, the court heard.

Breedon was eventually stopped and arrested. He was charged with affray (really spooky assault), possession of an offensive weapon, common assault, dangerous driving, drunk driving and criminal damage. He pleaded guilty to all charges. …but then he had to face sentencing.

“At one point he was driving alongside Pc Gray at 80mph looking directly at him. The officer said he was frightened, but managed to divert him out of the town centre.” Prosecutor Jonathan Seely told the court when regaling them with the account of the officer’s bravery.

Breedon’s defense attorney – acutely aware of the most clever methods to sway a court in her client’s favor – countered with the fact that her client’s drinking had intensified after he had stopped attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.

“This year [Breedon] had not been engaging with Alcoholics Anonymous and thought he could begin drinking socially,” defense attorney Elaine Havord said while apparently characterizing a drunken machete attack as ‘social drinking.’  She added, “[Breedon] had been appointed as treasurer of [his chapter of AA].” Impressive.

Unfortunately for Breedon, the presiding judge was unmoved by either Havord’s explanation or Breedon’s accolades from his peers.

Toronto AA Member Tortures And Sexually Assaults Fellow Alcoholics Anonymous Member

Warning: This story contains graphic material that may disturb some readers.
This poor man who was attending an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, had no idea how his life would change forever by befriending a man he met at the Toronto AA meeting. He invited John Siscoe back to his home to celebrate New Year’s Eve with his wife to share chips and pop. John Siscoe had a criminal record and drug and alcohol issues while attending AA. Probably court mandated no doubt. The horror that ensued is very hard to read. Let this be a wake-up call to those that think AA meetings are just a benevolent group, lovingly supporting one another. There is a very dark side to Alcoholics Anonymous that people need to be warned about. This man was tortured and nearly lost his life. It is considered one of the most heinous crimes in Toronto’s history! All by an Alcoholics Anonymous Member.
Update- It was Jan Foster and Robert Canavan that went to the police to report their concerns. Thank goodness they did!
John Michael Siscoe, 40, and the victim’s wife, 30, quietly pleaded guilty earlier this week in the Superior Court of Justice to a slew of charges, including endangering a life and sexual assault causing bodily harm.

Man brutally tortured by his wife and her boyfriend in Toronto apartment

Tortured mercilessly by his own wife and her new boyfriend, victim was too broken to escape

John Michael Siscoe, 40, and the victim’s wife, 30, quietly pleaded guilty earlier this week in the Superior Court of Justice to a slew of charges, including endangering a life and sexual assault causing bodily harm.

It took 75 minutes Thursday for Crown Attorney Paul Leishman to read aloud in court the 25 pages detailing one of the most heinous crimes in Toronto’s history — one man, confined to a closet and brutally tortured, physically, sexually and psychologically, over the course of three months.

His body cut with razor blades and beaten with hammers and broom handles until they broke. Lighter fluid poured over his skin, and then set on fire. Cartilage ripped from his ears with a pair of pliers. Pins pierced through his lips, sealing his mouth. Bleeding wounds cauterized with hot knives or sewn up with a needle and thread.

Those responsible for the horrific abuse were the man’s own wife and her new boyfriend. The location was a cramped one-bedroom basement apartment in the city’s west end.

John Michael Siscoe, 40, and the victim’s wife, 30, quietly pleaded guilty earlier this week in the Superior Court of Justice to a slew of charges, including endangering a life and sexual assault causing bodily harm, from Oct. 31, 2009 until police rescued the man on Jan. 19, 2010.

Responding to a call from concerned area residents, they found the victim huddled in the dark bedroom closet, naked, shivering, malnourished and with grotesque wounds.

He had five fractured ribs, two collapsed lungs, facial fractures, abrasions and burns all over his body. Pictures taken after he was found show what resembles a man’s face, but black, blue and bloated to three times its normal size. His eyes were swollen shut as pus and plasma oozed from his wounds.

On Thursday afternoon, as the agreed-upon “horrible litany of facts” was read out, only a handful of people were in the courtroom at 361 University Ave.

They heard a story of a victim whose spirit was so broken that he never tried to escape and who, even when rescued, continued to protect his torturers.

The court ordered a ban on publication of anything that would tend to identify the victim, who is still legally married to the woman in the dock. At the time of the abuse all three were living together in Toronto and she was pregnant with Siscoe’s child.

The story started back in 2005, in a small town southeast of Vancouver. The victim and his wife married in a back yard civil ceremony. Pictures from a Facebook account reveal a smiling couple surrounded by family. They lived off disability insurance — she handled the bills while he cooked.

Starting in 2008, the relationship soured. She was unfaithful and took to the Internet to chat with other men. In December of that year, at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, the victim met Siscoe, a short, solid man with jet black hair, prior convictions and a history of drug and alcohol abuse. They became acquaintances and he invited Siscoe to spend New Year’s Eve with him and his wife.
