Father Guilty of Felony Child Abuse of Son With 4 Broken Limbs Attends AA Meetings Prior To Sentencing

AA Member Leonard Dorame only gets one year in prison and probation after pleading guilty to abusing his 4 month old son who was found to have 4 broken limbs after he was in his care? Also the boy is permanently disabled now because of brain trauma from the injuries. He did not admit to beating his son, but only that he failed to take him to the hospital! What kind of justice is this? He is now not allowed around children under 15 years of age.

He also attended anger management classes and domestic violence classes along with AA Meetings. Yet he is allowed at AA Meetings where there are children?! He even eluded police afterwards for weeks before he was captured. The good ol’ Alcoholics Anonymous get out of jail card working it’s magic once again in our judicial system.

Sickening isn’t it?

A Tucson man must spend the rest of his life on intensive probation for failing to seek medical attention for his infant son, who suffered multiple broken bones and other injuries last fall.

Leonard Dorame, 29, was also sentenced to serve one year in the Pima County jail, but given credit for the 246 days he’s already served.

Dorame was indicted in January on two counts of child abuse, death or serious physical injury likely, after the child’s mother took the baby to a hospital for a swollen leg.

Doctors discovered bones in the boy’s upper and lower legs were broken, as were his ribs and bones in his left arm. They also observed bleeding in the baby’s retinas and brain.

Dorame pleaded guilty last month to one count of child abuse, admitting only that he didn’t take the boy to the hospital.

He could have received up to 12 1/2 years in prison.

Defense attorney Joel Feinman said that who injured the baby has never been established and no one will ever know. He pointed out the baby’s mother has been investigated for allegedly abusing and neglecting her older two children in the past and was only working part-time during the three weeks the 4-month-old was injured.

Since Dorame’s arrest he has been attending Alcoholic Anonymous meetings and attending anger management, parenting and domestic violence classes, Feinman said in court documents.

The child abuse charge is Dorame’s first felony conviction.

The prior allegations against the baby’s mother were found to be unsubstantiated by state Child Protective Services, Prosecutor Anita Simons told Judge Christopher Browning. She also noted Dorame wasn’t arrested until weeks after the baby was hospitalized because he fled.

The baby is now 14-months-old and qualifies for developmentally delayed services and occupational therapy, according to court documents.

The child’s mother told Browning she didn’t think it was fair for Dorame to get probation when all three of her children remain in CPS custody.

Browning told Dorame that if he violates probation “in any way, shape or form” he will be going to prison.

Dorame, who has two children with other women, can’t have any contact with children under 15 unless his probation officer approves it and he will have to perform 100 hours of community service every year.

    • Good Question Massive. Where the hell are the child advocates? They are hiding and refuse to deal with the abuse of these children.
They allow sex predators and men like this sicko to sit in the same meetings as children.
