It looks like in Nutley NJ local citizens are protesting about AA/NA meetings at a local Holy Trinity Church. They are most likely violating zoning ordinances. The church is putting local citizens at risk by allowing court mandated felons-some with mental disorders to attend, and also running a business out of the church.
The commissioners need to listen to the citizens and enforce local ordinances.
Did you check out the blog at the bottom of the newspaper article? The defenses
coming from the pro- Anonymous people are textbook denial and sound oh so
familiar. They go on the attack totally disregarding the citizens valid
concerns attempting to discredit them. They try to portray the citizens who
have been victims of harassment as being uncaring people who don’t appreciate
the needs of people in recovery. Common sense would tell you that there is an
appropriate time and place for everything. I’m sure these good people want good
recovery programs in appropriate settings! The whole concept of large groups of
court mandates complying with probation and parole by attending unsupervised
anonymous meetings totally lacks common sense. How about the comment from the
minister about there never having been a problem before? Sound familiar? Maybe
she’s not aware of these groups causing problems before, but then she’s not
supervising them, no one is, so how informed is she really? Textbook denial!
Just read the articles in the index pages of this site to see if there’s ever
been any problems with AA or NA meetings before. Once you understand the
non-accountable unsupervised structure of these “Anonymous” groups you will see
that this is a recipe for disaster. These stories just scratch the surface of
what’s actually been “made known.”One can be sure that there is much
that has been covered up over the years to protect the reputation of these
cult-like clandestine meetings!
