DAYTONA NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS MEETINGS IN HOLLY HILL PARKS REFUSE TO PAY RENT

2511

Daytona Narcotics Anonymous Meetings Just For Today in Hollyland Park and The Third Tradition at Centennial Park refuse to pay rent for their weekly meetings.  They are not honoring their 7th tradition that states  “Every NA group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside contributions.”   Both The Third Tradition and Just For Today meetings have been collecting money at  meeting for years in Holly Hill Florida Parks and continue to refuse to pay rent.

The City of Holly Hill asked NA Daytona years ago when Oel Wingo was City Manager to pay rent and they refused. Every time they are asked to pay, the members of these Narcotics Anonymous meetings refuse to pay.

Daytona NA is also fully aware of how much they have upset the community with not only not paying rent, but they also continue to smoke since our parks became NO SMOKING last fall.  They have also been many incidences in our parks with these NA groups and an AA group harassing and threatening locals trying to enjoy the park. You can read many of the horror stories here that citizens of Holly Hill have endured  http://nadaytona.org/rude-awakening/

  1. ( APRIL 6, 2013… CENTENNIAL PARK HOLLY HILL FLORIDA )

UNBELIEVABLE !! CITIZENS OBSERVED MANY DAYTONA BEACH, NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS MEMBERS, ( ONCE AGAIN ) BLATANTLY DISREGARDING THE HOLLY HILL CITY PARK NO SMOKING ORDINANCE!!

THE LARGE GROUP, COMPLETELY MONOPOLIZED THE PARK’S PARKING LOT AND THEN BEGAN PARKING ON THE GRASS UP AND DOWN 10TH STREET FOR THEIR, NON-COMPLIANT, WEEKLY ADVERTISED, CORPORATE MEETINGS. THEY COLLECT MONEY FROM THEIR MEMBERS AT THESE MEETINGS WHICH IS TRADITIONALLY USED FOR THESE GROUPS TO “PAY THEIR WAY.”
( THE AA/NA 7TH TRADITION )……. THESE GROUPS HOWEVER REFUSE TO PAY THEIR WAY WITH THE MONEY THEY COLLECT IN THE PARKS!

NUMEROUS MEMBERS ACTUALLY GATHERED TOGETHER TO SMOKE, STANDING ABOUT 10 FEET AWAY FROM THE” CENTENNIAL PARK RULES SIGN” WHICH IS CLEARLY DISPLAYED FRONT AND CENTER OF THE PARK AND PICTURED AT THE TOP OF THIS POSTING!!!!

THEY BLEW THEIR SMOKE DEFIANTLY AS MANY VERY SMALL CHILDREN PLAYED ALL AROUND THEM.

NONE OF THE HUGE WEEKLY MEETING’S ORGANIZERS MADE ANY ATTEMPTS TO ASK THESE MEMBERS TO RESPECT HOLLY HILL FLORIDA PARK RULES. THEY JUST SMOKED AND SMOKED WITHOUT ANY CONCERN.

WHAT KIND OF EXAMPLE ARE THE NA/AA ORGANIZERS SETTING FOR THESE COURT ORDERED REPEAT OFFENDERS BY ALLOWING AND ENABLING THIS ILLEGAL ACTIVITY?

JUST HOW LONG WILL THIS ORGANIZATION, THAT REGARDS ITSELF AS…… “SPECIAL AND SOMEHOW ABOVE THE LAW” BE BLATANTLY DISREGARDING HOLLY HILL FLORIDA CITY PARK POLICY?

WHAT KIND OF MESSAGE DOES THIS SEND TO ALL OTHER CITIZENS AND ORGANIZATIONS WHO ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ADVERTISE AND CONDUCT BUSINESS THIS WAY IN HOLLY HILL FLORIDA CITY PARKS? THESE AA/N/A GROUPS SOMEHOW DO THIS WEEKLY, WITHOUT ANY PROPER RESERVATION OR RENT FOR THE SPACE!

    WHO IS ENABLING THIS???

AS DARKNESS CLOSED IN ON CENTENNIAL PARK TONIGHT, DOZENS OF CHILDREN MANY WHO WERE 6 YEARS OLD AND YOUNGER, RAN WILD AND RODE SCOOTERS UP AND DOWN THE SIDEWALKS WITHOUT PROPER SUPERVISION! CITIZENS WITNESSED AT LEAST 2 SMALL CHILDREN GET INJURED AS THEY COLLIDED AND FELL ON THE CONCRETE SIDEWALKS AND OUT BY THE PARKING LOT!

    ……. INSURANCE RISK?!

IT’S HIGH TIME THAT THESE ORGANIZATIONS BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE TO THE SAME STANDARDS AS ALL OTHER CITIZENS AND ORGANIZATIONS WHO USE HOLLY HILL FLORIDA CITY PARKS!!!!

    • 4thechildren-NA Daytona cannot and will not control their groups. One is because no one is ever in charge at AA or NA meetings. Daytona Narcotics Anonymous are well aware of all the complaints by citizens, but they REFUSE TO PAY RENT or respect the NO SMOKING RULES.

Come on The City of Holly Hill-and police department do something about this on going problem.

We already know that NA Daytona is going to do whatever the heck they want to do, including packing guns.

I wonder too about Holly Hill’s insurance policy and if they are leaving themselves wide open to lawsuits if someone gets hurts at the parks.

    • More of the same. These groups are out of control because by their own admission no one is in control of them and it seems to just go on and get worse over time. You are right, there are a lot of good news articles in the monthly archives and factual information on this site.

  2. Holly Hill Police Chief Mark Barker says that Joseph Pavano busted for drugs and stolen property recently has been a problem man for some time with multiple drug arrests. This type of ” problem man” is just who Mark Barker allows in our parks to attend court mandated Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous meetings in Holly Hill Parks in Centennial Park, Hollyland Park and Sunrise Park.

When is Mark Barker and the City going to put children first instead of ” problem men” like Joseph Pavano?

Police chief: Holly Hill ‘problem’ man arrested for drug trafficking

A Holly Hill man who has racked up multiple drug convictions over the years was arrested Friday after police followed up on tips the man had been trafficking drugs, records show.

“This guy has been a problem for a long time,” Holly Hill Police Chief Mark Barker said of the suspect.

Holly Hill police received “credible information” in February and March that Joseph Pavano was trafficking prescription drugs out of his home in the 1000 block of Daytona Avenue, according to a Holly Hill police charging affidavit.

About 12:15 p.m. Friday, police received tips that multiple vehicles made short visits to Pavano’s home Friday morning, which police determined was “consistent with residential-based drug distribution operations,” according to the affidavit.

Police tracked Pavano, 49, to the parking lot of the nearby Holly Hill YMCA where he was found in a Ford Mustang with a 23-year-old Ormond Beach woman, according to the affidavit. As police approached the car, they saw Pavano, seated in the front passenger seat, trying to look behind him “while making furtive movements with his hands toward the rear-seat area of the passenger compartment.”

Kristal Balzarotti, who was seated in the driver’s seat, told police Pavano, who she said was her boyfriend, asked for a ride to a local

convenience store, according to the affidavit. After consenting to a search of her vehicle, she told police “all I have is some clothes in the back seat.”

Police found 8 milligrams of hydromorphone hydrochloride, a Schedule II controlled substance, which Balzarotti said she didn’t know was there and wasn’t hers, according to the affidavit.

Hydromorphone hydrochloride is commonly used to treat severe chronic pain, according to the U.S. National Library of Medicine.

Balzarotti said she was aware Pavano was involved in drug trafficking, but did not know if he had arranged or made sales or deliveries during the times she’s given him rides, according to the affidavit.

Pavano is charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and is being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail with bail set at $5,000, records show. No charges were filed against Balzarotti.

Pavano is also facing charges of dealing in stolen property and three counts of sale of a Schedule II controlled substance following his and his brother’s arrest last June, records show.

An investigation that began in January 2012 found Pavano and his brother, Robert Anthony Pavano, were selling drugs out of the Cheap O Depo store in the 900 block of Center Avenue, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

  3. I know Narcotics Anonymous World Services, the Florida Region plus among many local Daytona NA members do not support these rogue Daytona NA groups in Holly Hill parks smoking and not paying rent for meetings that they advertise on the world wide web. The fact that the Holly Hill PD has been called numerous times by local citizens that have had their lives threatened and have been intimidated by NA and AA members makes this all the more horrific. NA Daytona has told citizens that they were packing a gun, and it is known that Daytona NA has a crime problem with drugs, violence and guns. Yet they have the nerve to still have meetings at our parks and don’t even pay and continue to smoke!

      • The “big deal” as it were is the crimes against humanity that you perpetrate against HUMAN BEINGS that are reaching out for help in 12 step fellowships. This behavior needs to STOP!!! A.A. N.A. and the rest are the garbage dumps of the universe that need to be cleaned up.

        • AA and NA are certainly the dumping grounds for the courts, mental institutions and even the criminally insane. How anyone in their right mind can send minors to these meetings is beyond me. A massive global state of denial maybe……

  4. Sunday 2/17/2013.

Daytona Beach NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS groups continue to advertise Hollyland Park and Centennial Park in Holly Hill Florida as” their EXCLUSIVE, FREE places for conducting their WEEKLY CORPORATE MEETINGS.

I decided to stop by to observe their conduct and I was truly disappointed to find that after all this time little has changed!

A family was setting up a picnic nearby and lots of small children were playing on the swings and in the basketball courts. This recreational equipment for the children is adjacent to the pavilions that the NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS CORPORATION TAKES OVER, “FOR FREE,” WEEKLY TO CONDUCT THEIR BUSINESS.

After the meeting, two Daytona NA members, who were apparently long time local members, stood just 10 to 15 feet away from the basketball court where the children were playing. They loudly complained to each other about the dysfunction and disorganization that they have long perceived with Daytona NA .

WHAT WAS SO UPSETTING WAS THEIR OBVIOUS LACK OF CONCERN AND TOTAL DISREGARD FOR THE CHILDREN AS THEY EXCESSIVELY, LOUDLY AND REPEATEDLY USED THE “F” WORD and other foul, inappropriate words in literally every sentence!

I witnessed this loud swearing back and forth to one another steadily for about 10 min! The small children just had to play in clear ear shot of it all!

These long time members are supposed to be examples for the newcomers, yet the constant use of the “F” word in every sentence, for the children to hear, was completely inappropriate and a horrible example for newer members as well!

These N\A groups just take over the main pavilions every week. They refuse to pay rent to reserve the space, as all others are expected to do. They take the pavilions over when they show up as if they are entitled to expecting preferential treatment.

Expecting a free place to conduct their business is in total contradiction with their own organization’s 7th tradition!

When asked if they would be willing to properly pay and reserve the space, as all others are expected to do, these CORPORATE ORGANIZATIONS said “NO.”

  5. I cannot believe people bring their children and babies to these meetings where they can hear all the bad language and the horrible stories that are told.

What are they doing in a park around other children when they are so many criminals at these meetings? How selfish and unsafe.

    • I feel sorry for the locals here . They have taken over their park. that’s absurd. If I lived there I would take it back. 100%. Make them pay and change how people gather there like in Culver CIty. There are city ordinances you can implement to stop this.

      • Well even though AA and NA are not supposed to take anything for free so they will not be indebted to anyone, they take freebies from The City of Holly Hill even with public outrage.

It is because there are AA and NA members within the government of The City Of Holly Hill. Also Daytona NA and Daytona AA members work with the police and give them info about drug dealers. It makes the police indebted to the Daytona NA and Daytona AA members. 12 steppers are known narks/informants.

  6. NA DAYTONA MEMBER THREATENS LIVES OF LOCALS IN SUNRISE PARK HOLLY HILL FLORIDA

Since this occurred there have been additional events of harassment of local Holly Hill citizens and business owners. AA Volusia County Intergroup has bullied multiple times people out of pavilions, including threatening and harassing locals. Daytona NA members have actually expanded to other parks like Holly Land Park and Centennial Park. They had an incident where an NA member tried to hit another member with a baseball bat! They continue to run people out of pavilions, and recently have been breaking the new No Smoking rules implemented by The City of Holly Hill.

  7. Here is a post when NA Members got in a fight at Hollyland Park…….

DAYTONA NA MEMBER SWINGS BASEBALL BAT AT FELLOW NA MEMBER AT HOLLYLAND PARK
On September 10th 2011 Hollyland Park, Holly Hill Florida, The Daytona Beach Narcotics Anonymous Area Group sponsored a softball tournament that included NA Groups from other Florida counties. There was a fight that broke out between two Daytona NA members, and one of the members responded by swinging an aluminum baseball bat at this person. According to an inside source that was a witness, if the guy would not have ducked when he saw the bat coming at him, it would have killed him. NA members broke up the fight. There were many witnesses, and the victim called the police.
