UPDATED 1:16 PM EST Feb 14, 2013 By Chris McGrath

Police arrested Tair Karimov late Wednesday night after he allegedly robbed someone staying at the Homing Inn in Boynton Beach.

According to the arrest report, Karimov told the victim he was an undercover police officer investigating robberies in the area before taking $150 and a room key.

The victim told police Karimov had a handgun in his waistband, which later turned out to be a BB gun.

WPBF 25 News has also learned Karimov had an active warrant out for his arrest in Delray Beach.

According to another arrest report, Karimov threatened to shoot up a Narcotics Anonymous group that meets each morning inside the Church of the Palms in Delray Beach.

In text messages dated Jan. 10, Karimov threatened a member of the group, writing, “(I’m) gonna kill everybody.”

The police report indicates Karimov was also a member of the group, but told police he was high on spice when he sent the messages, claiming he would not have carried through with the shooting.

The pastor of the church, Dr. Charles Mory, told WPBF 25 News he was never made aware of the threats.

“I have people arriving here all the time and I’m sure when they get out of their car they think this is a safe place,” Mory said. “So, yes, I think we should have been notified.”

WPBF reached out to Delray Beach police to learn the protocol in situations like this, but so far has not heard back.

According to the police report, Karimov was Baker Acted just weeks before the threatening messages.

Detectives said they questioned him at a mental health facility where Karimov voluntarily checked himself in.

Karimov was remanded to the Palm Beach County Jail on $40,000 bond

  1. Greetings! I’ve been following your blog for a long time
now and finally got the bravery to go ahead and give you a shout out from Houston Texas!

Just wanted to tell you keep up the fantastic work!

    • You are not alone- many people are scared once they realize that there is no criminal too dangerous to be at a 12 step meeting. No one is too evil. Many also realize that the 12 steps our based on a pagan cult religion that wants to keep you in their clutches for the rest of your life.

When you get raped or robbed from another member they will ask you what your part in it is!

      • There are evil people everywhere and just by your response, it shows you are probably against any type of spiritual assistance.

        • What is your point Melody? There are evil people everywhere…. and…what? As a society we try and protect the vulnerable, particularly minors from harm. That is why their are safety guidelines at churches, schools, the Boy Scouts, Kids sport programs and hundreds of other organizations that put safety ahead of money. Yet AA World Services could care less about women who are raped by mandated violent felons or children who are molested by pedophile AA members.

I do not believe pagan religious cults such as AA or NA have any business praying to doorknobs and any other non Christian Higher Power in a Christian Church.

  2. How many times does this happen in our churches where the crimes by AA and NA members are hidden from the church and pastor? I would think fairly often. Churches really need to think long and hard about allowing an unsupervised group that invites sex offenders and felons to their meetings without any security guards.
