Corrupt Cop Attends Alcoholics Anonymous Awaiting Sentence

In a laundry list of corrupt police officers around the country, there was one in particular Scott David Burk, that was attending Iowa Alcoholics Anonymous while awaiting sentencing after stealing drugs and money from the Task Force room.

He was arrested August 28 th 2010. Amazing after reading the very long list of corrupt cops, how many of the offenses are drug related ! Interesting how often the police protect the anonymity of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous members. Some of this is starting to make sense………

In Muscatine, Iowa, a former Muscatine police officer was sentenced last Friday to five years in prison after being caught with cocaine and missing drug money. Scott David Burk, 48, went down after fellow officers in the Muscatine County Drug Task Force searched his home and vehicle and found the dope and currency missing from the task force evidence room. In May, Burk pleaded guilty to misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, a drug tax stamp violation, and second-degree theft. The latter two counts are both felonies. Burk had been free on supervised release since pleading guilty, but was immediately taken into custody and delivered to the Iowa Department of Corrections in Oakdale. He had been undergoing drug treatment and attending Alcoholics Anonymous while awaiting sentencing.

  1. Here is an interesting story about an incident in Sunrise Park with a Ghost On New’s Eve. Interesting, this ghost has a famous background in reference to alcohol……..

‘While many of us have had run-ins with aggressive neighbors and have spent days dreading those encounters as we turn into our driveways, never in a million years would we imagine that we would ever come face-to-face with a ghost. Well, that is exactly what happened to a Holly Hill resident on December 31, 2011, as she was about to ring in the new year.

A local elementary school teacher who only wishes to be identified as ‘Helen’ encountered what she now believes to be the departed and former resident of Holly Hill, by the name of Sea Captain William McCoy. McCoy was an American sea captain for the Union Navy who was also a rum runner smuggler during the Prohibition Era.

McCoy was born in Syracuse, New York In 1877. His father, William McCoy, also served in the Union Navy during the American Civil War. McCoy purchased a home in Holly Hill, Florida, around 1900. He and his family operated a motor boat service and a boat yard. McCoy who always considered himself an ‘honest lawbreaker’ during the period when he ran liquor across the ocean, once attended the Pennsylvania Nautical School in Philadelphia, It would take an Act of Congress to authorize this institution as a place for young men to become merchant marines.

On June 20, 1874, the Secretary of the Navy assigned a superintendent to oversee the training of young men in the ports of Baltimore, Norfolk, Philadelphia, New York, Boston, and San Francisco. William McCoy not only attended the nautical school, he graduated top in his class and would later sail on the USS Saratoga.

However, none of that seemed to matter to ‘Helen’ when she was startled by the apparition of Bill McCoy on December 31, 2011, while strolling alongside the Halifax River. Helen was about to spend another New Year’s Eve alone, and instead she found herself with ‘company’ walking the water’s edge at Sunrise Park. The park is located on Riverside Drive in Holly Hill, Florida. She had just arrived at the park when she felt an eerie sensation of someone watching her. She quickly turned and spotted standing a few yards away from her a dark image of an elderly man wearing what looked to be a white naval cap. The image suddenly ‘blinked away’, as ‘Helen’ herself described it. Filled with fear, she quickly gasped and ran back to her car.

The following morning, Helen decided to research the history of Sunrise Park. The history of the park did not reveal any information, which could explain what she encountered, but she did discover that William McCoy once owned the property alongside Sunrise Park. She then googled a photograph of William McCoy and was shocked when noting how similar the sea captain resembled the frail elderly figure who startled her. Helen later stated that she is doing well but has no future plans to return to the park alone any time soon.’
